This property offers the finest fly fishing on one of the best streams in the southwest. The historic Ranch House that overlooks this fabulous property is the perfect compliment to this 'private', pristine fish and wildlife area. The property reeks of western heritage and history and is so special that we call it the 'Holy Waters'.
This is the only private property in the Cimarron River Canyon that has a beautiful, historic house and over 1/2 mile of the best fly fishing on the entire river. It is so special and the water is so rich that we call it the 'Holy Water'. You can view fish and wildlife from various viewing locations in the house and hiking, biking, photography, hunting and fishing abound right outside your door!
We really loved the property and the house. We loved the extra little touches that made the house more cozy and lived in. The only issue we had, was with the upkeep of the exterior of the house. We had to clean spiders and webs off of most of the windows just to be able to open them to let in that awesome fresh air. Some of the windows did not have screens & some of the windows would not close properly. The weeds and grass were so tall at some of the exits and paths that we could not walk through. But in comparison to the experience of the property those issues were small and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.
House was clean and nice. Shower head was all plugged up with lime so showers were not very good. Also, the septic tank is located between the house and the kids swingset but was only covered by a narrow board. A child or pet could easily fall into it. Hopefully owner will fix this immediately and this should not prevent anyone from renting it but just be aware if you have small kids there. I would have called to tell them while I was there but there is no land line phone, no cell, no internet. Comfortable, clean, and a magnificent view from the outdoor hot tub especially on a warm summer night like we had.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The view was so pretty. The house had every thing you could ever need and more.we enjoyed being out in the country.Looking forward to coming back this summer and going fishing.
We stayed here between Christmas and New Years. It was great. The house stayed
warm-even in a blizzard- and the kids had a wonderful time playing outside in the snow. It was an easy trip to Angel Fire because the roads were in such good shape. We would definitely recommend this house.
Really enjoyed the house and the view of the Holy Water is awesome! There was not much flow from the dam so that was a little disappointing since we came to fish it but the fishing was good in other spots so that made up for it. My only complaint is that I could not find any pots and pans...everything else was great. It is a fine house in a very scenic spot and the weather in the mountains was a welcome change from the triple digit summer we are having in Houston!
The setting for this property is absolutely beautiful. There is lots of space outside for roaming and enjoying nature. Inside the house flows really well with a complete walk around in the main part. Beds were extremely comfortable. Good kitchen set up. Only draw back is one bathroom downstairs, really need 3rd bath in addition area preferable not up the stairs maybe in atrium. Locks on gate are a bit confusing in daylight in dark might be overwhelming.
Combine the Hacienda with our cabins, event tents, dance floors, tables and chairs to host your next event, wedding or family reunion. Quick access to Angel Fire and Red River ski areas, villages and nightlife.
Guided fly fishing trips available through the Solitary Angler- please inquire. Lodging does not include the right to fish on the property but it can be arranged seperately.
