I grew up and got married in NYC and moved to St Croix in 1971. I love St. Croix. My three children grew up in St. Croix, one was born on there. It's a wonderful place for children to grow up on. I lived and worked there for 37 years. I am now living in Florida but do hope to return to St. Croix. There is no better place to live or to vacation in.
C. D. Cortes purchased this house in 1973
The view from this property is fantastic. Every room offers a wonderful sea view. The trade winds breezes that go throughout the house are marvelous and keeps the house comfortable especially at night. There are many mature fruit trees such as mango, plumb(Caribbean), genip, sour sop, carambola, sugar apples, guavas, and limes that I planted because I love these fruits.
The house is located on the West End of St. Croix which offer the most beautiful white sand beaches on St. Croix. My very favorite is Dorch Beach. The snorkeling is great at this beach and it is only 5 minutes away from the house.

The house is fantastic thru and thru. An open plan that gives a great relaxing feeling to the four of us who stayed there for 8 days and truly became our home for that time. Everything was as advertised and Carmen was instrumental in making our stay so appreciated that we are looking at coming back again. Can only say that between the terrace the fruit trees the quietness of the neighborhood and its location in Two Williams you can not go wrong with this property.
As a frequent traveler and user of VRBO and FlipKey (somewhere between 8-12 locations per year)I can honestly say this is in the top three properties and location and the top two in terms of service and attention to detail from the owner.
We loved our stay. Carmen was very helpful. Highly recommended for a relaxing winter break. We intend to come back and stay at the house for winter break when we have a chance.
The house is magnificent! A charming, cozy Caribbean style house which sits on top of a hill with lush views of trees and the ocean from its large seated terrace. Everything you could ask for to make your holiday authentic and convinent is in the house. It has a beautiful open living space, full kitchen, terrace, 2 bedrooms, lush yard, terrace and BBQ grill. The location is in a perfect part of Fredricksted, near the main road, bus stop and restaurants nearby. It's truly a gem.
We have stayed at the beautiful home many times before and as in the past, the house was in immaculate condition. The front porch has a screened cover so we could stay out there and enjoy the breeze without worrying about getting sunburned. The kids enjoyed eating the star fruit and mangos they picked off the trees for breakfast. My favorite part of the day is drinking my coffee and looking at the breath taking view of the south side of the island. We also like that this house is just a 5 minute drive to the beach, town, and stores.
St.Croix is a beautiful island and this home is the perfect place to stay with my family. The home is located on the west side of the island close to Frederiksted. It is less then ten minutes away from beautiful beaches and fun water sports. We went hiking, did SUP paddle. snorkeled and swam with sea turtles. The porch is our favorite place, In the morning I watched the sunrise with my coffee and at night, my kids and I stargazed in the breeze. There is plenty of room and the house has everything you need to be comfortable. We saved money by cooking most days. Grocery shopping can be expensive but if you go to the local market, You can make it more affordable. This is our 3rd stay on this property. My kids love exploring the property and finding what ever fruit is in season. We missed the mangoes this last time but we did eat star fruit and sour-sap. I have looked at other places but they do not compare for the value. My children love it and it truly has become a home away from home.
I have stayed at this property before and just could not wait to go there again. The house is very clean and decorated very nicely in a coastal theme. The view from every room is to die for. The trade winds are nonstop so it is comfortable even in summer months. If you like cooking at home you will find everything you could possibly need and more. Even though the house is very private it is close to everything, groceries, Kmart, attractions and best of all the best beaches on St. Croix in the West End. My favorite beach was Dorsch Beach. Loved having lunch at the Beach Café, right on the beach and then going on that beautiful beach that has great snorkeling. There is also paddle boarding and even sea doo rentals at Rainbow Beach. My favorite thing was to hang out on the porch with a drink and get lost in the breathtaking ocean view. I also enjoyed picking the fruits in the property, oranges, limes. starfruit, soursop, sugar apples, delicious mangos, cashew fruits. There are beautiful tropical flowers everywhere. Just love this place and can't wait to go again.
You can take up paddle boarding at Tres Veho, or dive the Frederiksted pier. History buff's can visit the Whim plantation and Fort Frederik. All of these attractions can be found less than a 10 minute drive from Casa Cortes. For suggestions please contact the owner.
