|Minimum Stay||30 nights|
30 day min rental - Our property is located on the frontage road to the Five-Diamond Resort know as the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.
Our guest house is private, quiet, and very comfortable. We are literally steps away from the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. Enjoy the amenities of the Inn including 4 wonderful restaurants, an 18 hole championship golf course, and a world class spa. We can even arrange for room service from the Inn if you wish. Many of our guests are attending some type of event at the Inn, others are just enjoying all that Ojai has to offer from our convenient location.
Our guest house is over 1200 sq. ft. and has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchenette. Each bedroom has a sliding glass door with access to individual patios. Just outside are a full size pool (not heated), sauna, and a four-person Jacuzzi for you to enjoy. The pool area is a shared area. If you would like this area to be private during your stay it is an additional $100, please request during booking.
Our guest house is newly re-modeled throughout using local craftsmen to create custom furniture and fixtures. It is tastefully decorated to provide simple comfort. We include all amenities, including three flat screen TV's, one in each bedroom and one in the living room. Cable and WiFi are provided at no charge.
The grounds are completely separate from the main house. You may enjoy the Pool, Jacuzzi and Sauna as well as a large open pool deck, perfect for lounging the day away in the Ojai sun. There is a separate patio that is perfect for a quiet cup of coffee in the morning or an evening cocktail.
We are close to downtown Ojai, only a 15 minute walk down the famous bike path. You can also borrow a few bikes and take a ride to the beach in Ventura, about 15 miles one-way. Or, walk 1 minute to the Inn and jump on the Ojai trolley that will take you around town for 50cents.
I'm a life-long resident of Ojai. While I grew up here, I didn't always appreciate my home town. What changed...? I met my husband, who has showed me how truly unique our little town is. I love telling people all the secrets of our magical community.
Lynn Gardner purchased this cottage in 2006
It was the first time in nearly a decade that a home on this street came up for sale. We were not looking to buy, but couldn't turn down the possibility. As a lifetime resident of Ojai, I know how special this location is.
This is a special place. You'll drive into the gated property and up the long tree-lined drive along the golf course. Just before you enter the Inn, you'll find our home, one of just 6 estates on Country Club Road within the gated property.
We are the only vacation rental that offers the convenience of walking to the Ojai Valley Inn, only 100 yards from our door. It's a wonderful option to enjoy drinks at Jimmy's Pub or breakfast , lunch, or dinner at one of the multiple restaurants. You may also book a massage or other treatment at the Spa. Or if you prefer, book a Tee-time at the championship golf course and walk over to the range.
Occasionally, we even arrange to order room service from the Inn, delivered by their wonderful staff, on golf carts, directly to our door.
This house is located in a very quiet and lovely area.
Hike trails, restaurant and shops are a few minutes away by walk.
We really enjoyed our 2 nights there and could rest peacefully.
Hope we can come again soon. Thanks Lynn!
This house was lovely and simple. Perfect, low key getaway for a few days. Beautiful pool and hot tub, well appointed house. We enjoyed the meteor shower on the pool lounge chairs and waking about 1 minute up the drive way to the Ojai Valley Inn for live music on the lawn. Great stay.
My husband and I spent almost a week here with our four children (aged 11 to 6) and everyone had a wonderful time. Lynn was a very responsive and kind host. The house is in a great location right across from the Ojai Valley Inn, but felt very private and secluded despite being right behind the owners' house. It was quiet, low key and very relaxing. A bonus was Jackson, the owners' dog, who spent hours playing in the pool with our kids. (Yes he likes to swim.) The downtown area was walking distance, as was a very nice park with tennis courts, walking trails and a playground. It was just the right amount of space for us and the pool was a delight (as were the hot tub and sauna). The only downside to the house was the small kitchenette given that we had to feed four kids, but we still give it 5 stars because the rest of the property was great. We would definitely rent again!
Some pros and cons to this property:
-In a really lovely location. Even if you don't use the facilities at the resort, you're able to stroll around and enjoy the lovely grounds.
-Nice pool, with thoughtful amenities like a basket of sunscreen, lots of towels, and some pool toys.
-Pretty backyard space that feels really private. Even though you're in a little backhouse to the owner's main house, we never ran into the owners and it felt pretty private.
-Nice welcome basket from the owner with wine and snacks
-There's some maintenance required on the property that might be easy to fix, but were still kind of a pain as a guest. The main door is a sliding door that is nearly impossible to close/lock. There was an ant problem in one bedroom as a result of a little hole near the corner of the room. We had a plumbing problem that took a bathroom out of commission for the length of our stay, but I imagine that it's been fixed in the intervening time so it won't be an issue for subsequent guests (Lynn, the owner, was prompt with responding to our message that the toilet was running/leaking when we arrived and offered a small refund, but we ended up with 1 functional bathroom nonetheless).
-In the summer it was just really, really hot inside. There's an A/C, but it wasn't on when we arrived, so it never got up and running enough to cool down (plus, the guest house is basically uninsulated--we could never get it below 85). In the spring I'm sure it's fine, but with a pregnant lady in tow we never felt comfortable in the house. At night, you'd have to sleep with all the windows and screen doors open to get it cool enough. Again: fine for other seasons, but in July we counted on AC.
What a find! Beautiful, comfortable rental right next to the Ojai Valley Inn. Well appointed and meticulously cared for. Fantastic.
We were in town for a friend's wedding at Ojai Valley Inn and spent a lovely couple of days here. Perfect amenities, less than 5 min walk to the Inn's lobby, immaculate pool perfect for that brutal afternoon heat. Lynn was a great hostess, available for check-in and if we needed her, and guest house felt very separate and private despite the close proximity to main house. Would absolutely recommend and stay again!
