Excellent get-away cabin
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our (spring break) get-away weekend at your cabin. It was perfect for a family of 4 and our little dogs; which loved the fenced-in side yard! The cabin is very nicely outfitted with everything we needed. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, fishing and playing guitars next to the beautiful river. We will be back for sure! Thank you for sharing your home and a little piece of ‘paradise’.
Wonderful place to stay while taking classes at the folk school
The cabin was a wonderful and peaceful place to stay while we took a week of classes at the John C Campbell Folk School. We enjoyed sipping wine on the screened in porch and taking our dog for walks along the river. It is a very quiet dead end road and everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming. The kitchen was fully stocked and the shower in the upstairs bathroom was wonderful. There is a nice little dog run just off the kitchen, that is well fenced and big enough for our dog to sniff around. Also, there is a great selection of DVDs to choose from. We will definitely stay here again.
Take me away Hiawassee River
The house was not exactly what we were expecting but worked out for us. My sister and I invited a newly wed couple to join us. There is a downstairs bedroom with twin beds and an upstairs loft. The loft is nice but not completely private. The river is across the street with a beautiful view from the screened in balcony. This is where I would have been more than satisfied to spend my time. But I am glad I didn't. We visited one of the winerys and loved it. We had dinner at the Irish pub downtown (delicious and fun). Our friends spent one evening visiting the casino. While my sister and I sat on the balcony listening to the water. It was a great weekend get away and we are already planning for next year.
Peaceful and snug
The sounds of the river, the wind in the trees, and the geese are wonderful to sit and listen to while reading on the porch. Things got a little louder on Monday when the world started back to work, but over the weekend was very nice. On Sunday, we had massive rains from Hurricane Nate, and the sound of the rain on the roof kept putting us back to sleep. The cabin was clean and neat and had everything we could have needed in the kitchen and in terms of linen. We were there for the Folk School Fall Festival, and this location was very convenient for that. We had a wonderful time.
Location was not as expected
The house was lovely, clean, and well appointed. However, we went to fish and the property was not actually on the water. It had access, but the water access was across the street on the owner's personal property.
We are sorry that these renters were misled by our next door neighbors. They told them not to fish on their private property and that next to them was the owners "private property". Our home, including the rental cabin is on one lot and river access is available. In fact, we even have a stone patio and steps leading into the river for renters to use. The cabin sits about 40 yards from the river and the "street" is a private, dead end, one lane road more like a driveway, for private use only. If the renters had asked us they would have been told "fish to your hearts content".
Beautiful well equipped cabin hosted by wonderful people.
We could not have asked for a better site. The cabin is equipped with everything you could asked for and many items I didn't know to ask for. Great to sit on the porch and watch the river and listen to the geese..
This was our dog's first vacation and he had a wonderful time.
My husband tried fishing in the river with little success but went with a guide and did very well. There many activities in the area and our hosts, George and CW , were great at letting us know and the happenings in the area.--GREAT music.
We had booked 2 weeks and then got caught in Irma's arrival. Fortunately the cabin and was available and our hosts were so accommodating in letting us wait out the storm while Irma took her toll on our Florida home.
Don't miss an opportunity to stay.
We will definitely be back next year.
Located on the river providing access for Tubing, kayaking, canoeing or fishing.
