About Fred Goldsmith
Purchased the land in 2008. Restored the log home at other end of property and started to rent out. Since it was a success and the land where the new home was built had an amazing view it just made sense to build a home on the river to take advantage of the views. With the help of friends and myself we built it and i may have went a little overboard when building the deck but turned out to be a one of a kind place to stay.
Fred Goldsmith purchased this House in 2008
Why Fred Goldsmith chose Whitefish
You can walk around the deck and have a view from everywhere you are. Wildlife, elk, eagles, geese, etc. along with mountain and river views. Walk out back and throw a line in to get some pike. Together with the log home a great wedding venue
What makes this House unique
The one thing that sets this apart is the view and deck. When I was building the deck I may have gotten a little carried away. An extra foot here, extra foot there. It ended up to be a 2800 sq. ft. full wrap around and the views are amazing. Close to town for all the winter and summer activities. Ice fish in the winter also. Elk farm and Black Angus across the road. Calving season is April and May. Eagles are across the river on top of the Aspen. Snow shoe around from the home and cross country ski. Use the fire pit in summer and winter. Caretaker nearby for anything you may need.

Beyond our expectations!
We were fortunate to spend a week in this amazing house! Party of 12 including kids, grandkids and best friends, had the time of our lives. The property itself is breath taking with views of cows, deer and elk off the front deck. The back wrap around deck was where we sat every morning and ended our night with wine and stories about our day in the park. We watched a crazy lightening storm that blew out an electrical transformer our second night. We lost electricity for 24 hours. Kirk, the caretaker arrived at our house with lights and ice chests. He was concerned and helpful and kept us informed when the electricity would be turned back on. He was great! We went to the dollar store and purchased tons of candles and cooked on the outdoor grills. Might be our favorite night! We did 3 day trips into Glacier Park. Breathtaking! Other days we went river rafting, pontoon boating, kayaking, paddleboarding and rode the chair lift at Whitefish and hiked down. The Kalispell dairy provided us with yogurt, ice cream and iced coffee. The only thing that the house doesn't have is a good sound system or at least we couldn't figure it out. Our daughter brought a bluetooth jam box that worked great. So bring one in your luggage if you want to have music playing upstairs. Thank you Fred and Kirk. We hope to be back!
Week with family in paradise
I regret I can’t go beyond 5 stars. From the email conversations by the owner to the very nice cleaning staff to Kirk the caretaker who gave me great advice on the area. The house was perfect for the eleven family members. We saw beautiful sunrises and beautiful sunsets and then built a campfire and watched the Montana sky come to life. Thanks to Fred and staff for a beautiful week. Hey Fred, loved that covered deck!
Wonderful ranch home in a beautiful Montana Setting
Our family of 12 with 7 adults and 5 children thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at this private property. So much privacy. Sitting on the wrap around porch was a perfect way to begin and end our day with its beautiful mountain views. Views of the cow and elk herd across the road was an added plus with a dairy farm just down the road so we had access to fresh milk, ice cream, and yogurt. The manager was very helpful. There are horses on the property to pet and feed which was a hit with the kids and fishing in the backyard creek. We loved our stay here and didn't want to week to end. We would definitely return.
Well maintained house with scenic views
Great house for a large family gathering with all the amenities of home. Close to Glacier National Park and surrounding towns. Lots of outside seating to take in the beautiful and relaxing views.
By far, the nicest place we have ever and probably will ever stayed in.
The home was very open and did not lack for anything in the kitchen or anywhere else. The views from anywhere on the deck were amazing. The owner was readily available and made us feel like was renting from family. Very friendly and accomidating. Will definatly be back
Loved our stay in Montana!
Our family got together and had an incredible stay in Montana. The place is great for an awesome family gathering. The views are beautiful as you are surrounded by Mountains! The river is right in the back yard and fun to catch a fish! We loved our stay and will be back for sure!
River Meadow Ranch is situated close to town yet
secluded. An elk farm sits just up the road and you
can see them from the front deck sometimes.
Surrounded on 2 sides by approx. 800 acres of open land with cattle at times and a few horseback riders sometimes.
Big Mountain and Blacktail ski resort are seen from the deck. Walk out back, fish and catch pike with rods provided. 360 degree views of mountains from the 2800 sq. ft. full wraparound deck.
Short drive to Costco, Wallmart, In Kalispell. 10 min to grocery stores in Whitefish. Best caterer in the valley 10 min. away.
Horseback riding close by . Easy access to town via very scenic
drive or scenic drive. Close to quiet lake rarely used by tourists with restrooms and camping sites. Horses all around. Watch the eagle across the river on top of the pines. Play horse shoes.
