Bahamas House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Very Secluded Beach House, Dock, Amazing Views, More...

Dreaming of a private island vacation, but can't quite afford one?

If you're looking for peace, quiet, and privacy, you've just stumbled upon paradise. Welcome to Turtle Cove, North Eleuthera, Bahamas. Turtle Cove is the most secluded villa rental on mainland Eleuthera Bahamas. This lovely, spacious, fully-equipped 4BR/2BA vacation home rental is located on a peninsula of four beautiful oceanfront acres of tropical fruit trees (at least 20 different varieties) and flowering trees in every color of the rainbow. The landscaping around the Turtle Cove villa is truly a delight to the eyes, and is a wonderful place for bird watching. Turtle Cove offers a fabulous view of the sea, the sunrise, the sunset, Harbour Island, and other surrounding cays. As the name, 'Turtle Cove', suggests, guests usually see beautiful turtles around the property every day.

This native-style Bahamian villa offers its own private dock and coves of deserted pink sand beach that are private enough for private swimming and sunbathing. The closest neighboring home or commercial establishment is more than three miles away in any direction; yet, Turtle Cove is within a short ride by boat and/or car to Harbour Island, Spanish Wells or other quaint towns on Eleuthera where you may visit historical landmarks, dine at quaint eateries, browse the native markets or explore interesting caves. The famous, historic Preacher's Cave is only a few miles away; it is a great place to explore. Preacher's Cave is where the first European settlers took shelter after they shipwrecked on Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef in 1648.

The area is known for its great bone fishing; bonefish have been caught from the home's private dock! The area also offers great snorkeling and fishing, and the famous Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef is less than a 1/4 mile away. Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef is world famous for reef fishing, lobstering, and snorkeling, and plays a very important part in the local history of the surrounding islands. Turtles and pods of dolphins frequent the area around Turtle Cove, and there are many deserted nearby islands and beaches to explore.

Fishing charters, diving charters, snorkeling guides, tour guides, caving excursions, rental boats, and rental cars are available for your enjoyment.....or you may just want to relax in paradise.

For your enjoyment this vacation rental offers free use of bicycles, and ocean kayaks that you may use to explore the beautiful natural surroundings. (Otherwise bicycles and kayaks are expensive to rent separately.)

Turtle Cove is great for those rental parties that definitely want to stay off the beaten track. If you are looking for a real natural escape with no neighbors right next door, and where the fishing and snorkeling are second to none, then, Turtle Cove is the place for you. Most guests never see another soul at Turtle Cove; a few run into a lost tourist or two or a local farmer turning around at the end of the road.

Please note that Turtle Cove is completely 'off the grid', and, as such, water and electricity conservation is encouraged.

Rates for four persons: $1895/wk. year round except Jan., Feb., April 1 - 15 & May 25 - September, and December 10 - 20 -$1995/wk. About Brent Beauregard

We are a local family living in Spanish Wells Eleuthera Bahamas. Our family dates back to the original Eleutheran Adventurers, the first European settlers in The Bahamas dating back to 1648 who shipwrecked just a few miles from Turtle Cove. Brian aka Capt. Scuba is a licensed boat captain and works full time as a lobster diver. When not diving commercially for lobsters, he is a local fishing & snorkeling guide, and also offers area tours and cave exploring. (Some have called him the Crocodile Dundee of North Eleuthera.) Brent aka Capt. Smiley is also a licensed boat captain who also offers fishing and snorkeling trips, boat rentals, and golf cart rentals. He is also a local rental property manager. Lorraine is the local North Eleuthera realtor and will be pleased to show you all the best local real estate deals (her listings and all other agents' listings) when you are in town. Just give her a call if you would like any information on the local real estate market or a free real estate tour.

Brent Beauregard purchased this house in 1991

Why Brent Beauregard chose Bahamas

We found Turtle Cove in 1991 and fell instantly in love with the place. There are many little coves of beach on the peninsula and one long amazingly beautiful beach on the north side that seems to go on forever and there are no other souls in sight. The area around Turtle Cove is very private and secluded, and, yet, groceries, restaurants, bars, etc. are close enough for us at 3 - 5 miles away.

What makes this house unique

Turtle Cove is a very unique property. It offers seclusion. There are no other homes or commercial establishments within 3 miles of the property. The property also offers many coves of pinkish sandy beaches and a amazing beach that seems to stretch forever on the north side. You really don't know how nice it is to have a beach all to yourself until you try it. Turtle Cove also offers a dock on the protected east side of the property, which is great for persons that like boating and fishing, etc. It is very rare to find a property that offers both a beach and dock. The property offers many tropical fruit trees where guests may pick fresh fruit whenever it is in season. Most guests see beautiful turtles around the property just about every day. The property is completely off the grid and water and energy conservation is encouraged. Ocean kayaks and bicycles are offered free of charge to guests of Turtle Cove. A jeep rental is offered to guests of Turtle Cove at a discounted rental rate.

off the grid

  • 5 of 5

2.2 miles down the road from preachers cave is a home worth going. I chose off the grid as this was how it was described and it is on point!!

Right on the water looking across at Harbour Island and 10 minutes drive from the Spanish Wells ferry, it is idyllic. No one will bother you unless they are lost. We were there 25 days and 4 cars total arrived (all lost). This is not a resort. not for all that want pampering and your meals made for you. You do it all. It is worth it!! You must rent a car. There is a dock if you decide to rent a boat and an easy trek across to Harbour Island. The 5 minute walk on the "secret path" through the brush takes you to your won private beach. There are 131beaches on Eleuthera and this is in the top 3. And all yours!!! The beach at Spanish Wells is gorgeous as is Harbour Island. Nice shops on HI and we enjoyed Runaway Hill for dinner. Taking time to drive to Rainbow Cay Inn (about 40 miles) is worth it. Monday is Pizza night and great entertainment. We went to St. Lucia after Eleuthera for 2 weeks and now in Bequia, St. Vincent for 2 weeks. Trust me, the beach at Turtle Cove beats everyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking a moment to write a review. It was a pleasure meeting you and getting to know you. Yes, indeed, Turtle Cove is off the grid, and it is unlikely that you will see another soul in the area unless he/she is lost. Turtle Cove is not the place for persons who want luxury, pampering, or meals cooked for them. It is really a place for those who truly want to get away from it all, gaze at the stars at night, and enjoy a beach where the only footprints in the sand are their footprints. Yes, a car is a must and we offer one at a discount. A rental boat is, also, fun to have for those that have boating experience as it is another way to explore the beautiful beaches, reefs, and islands that surround Turtle Cove. I know you all went every where in Eleuthera when you were here only to find that the beach at Turtle Cove beats them all. I hope you are having fun in St. Vincent. Wishing you safe travels. ~ Lorraine and Capt. Smiley :)

Awesome location

  • 5 of 5

Just returned home from 10 days atTurtle Cove, we wished it was longer. We arrived at the house and was greeted by Brent and Brian, who had fresh mangos and sour oranges for us and after a short walk through of the house, we were on our way to one of the best vacations we've ever had. Turtle Cove might not be for everyone, but it was perfect for my wife and I. The generator was no problem, we used it at night for the a/c and in the mornings to make coffee, on cooler nights we didnt use it at all. Renting the car is a must staying at this house and the boat, the best way to get around to all the secluded beaches and Harbour Island. We made almost daily trips to the Devils Backbone to some of the best snorkeling we have ever experienced but mostly spent our time on the private beach just a short walk thru the water or a 2 minute boat ride, next to the house. The dock was amazing, we dumped our food scraps everyday and the amount of fish that came was amazing. But the nights were even more incredible on the dock, we listened to music, had wine and enjoyed the night sky. We are definitely planning a return trip in the near future as soon as we can. If you are looking to get away from it all, Turtle Cove is a great place to stay!

Thank you Lorraine, Brent and Brian for sharing your house with us! We look forward to seeing you again!

Owner's Response: It was our pleasure to have you as our guests, and we are delighted to hear that Turtle Cove was one of the best vacations that you have ever had. I'm happy that you found some fresh mangoes and sour oranges available at Turtle Cove during your stay. It is nice to rent a boat to explore the Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef. It does offer amazing snorkeling. All guests seem to really enjoy the dock and all the interesting and beautiful sea creatures that are attracted to the area surrounding it. If you enjoy star gazing, Turtle Cove is definitely the place to be. There are no city lights around to detract from the beauty of the stars on a clear night. We are looking forward to your visit again later this year. Smiles :) Lorraine, Brian, and Brent

Turtle Cove Amazing

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place. Don't let the trek to the house alarm you, the reward is worth it. Don't let the fact that the electricity is supply by generator alarm you, it was a simple key start. There is no beach directly at the house, but after a pleasant walk on a well kept path, you will

find yourself alone on a fabulous beach. At low tide I

would guess you could walk two miles from one end to the other. We never saw another person on the beach.

The house was very comfortable. The SUV was an

absolute must since the grocery store was several miles

away. A boat is highly recommended although we had a great time with the kayaks. But the absolute best part was the dock. Something new happened everyday day. One day and eel came swimming out of the tires. Lots of beautiful fish hang out under the dock. Two french

angels. Lots of sergeant majors. Turtles. Rays. It was our own personal aquarium. We had a great time there and so lost track of time when Brent came to pick us up we thought he had come a day early. If you want to get away, this is the perfect place.

One note that has nothing to do with Turtle Cove. We arrived January 21 and even though we are from Iowa and used to the cold, it felt cool most of the time and we

were only able to tolerate getting in the water once. Too cold.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Yes, Turtle Cove is a wonderful place! The Turtle Cove beach is fabulous, stretches for miles, and guests rarely ever see another soul on the beach. Yes, many guests do enjoy a boat rental at this location, which allows them to explore the nearby sounds, reefs, islands, and cays. We are happy to hear that you made use of the ocean kayaks, and had a great time kayaking around the area in the ocean kayaks provided at Turtle Cove. Yes, our guests always marvel at the beautiful sea creatures that they find right under the dock. We are happy that you, too, enjoyed seeing all the fish, turtles, and rays right next to the dock. Turtle Cove is the perfect place for those who really want to get away. I am suprised that you folks from Iowa would say it was cool at Turtle Cove in January. I don't think our night time low got any lower than 60 degrees F this January. (I'm sure it was much, much colder in Iowa.) You might want to try April or May next year. Looking forward to seeing you then. Lorraine, Capt. Smiley, and Capt. Scuba.

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in January 2015 at Turtle Cove with 3 teenagers, my mother-in-law, my cousin, and myself and hubby. There was plenty of room for all of us. The second living area has two rooms and a shared bath. The wall doesn't go all the way to the ceiling so it's not the most private area but worked well for our family. We spent most of our time at the end of the dock. The sunrises and sunsets were absolutely amazing! We loved watching the fish and saw a ray, many turtles, and even a small nurse shark. We enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling every day and the kids loved fishing off the dock. The short, 10 minute walk to the most amazing, private beach is well worth the walk every day. We took the cooler and spent the day just floating around. We only ever saw one other group on the beach and they had come in by boat. We grilled most meals. I wish I had looked through the provided cookbooks on day one!

Our favorite day was boating with Captain Ron and Captain Smiley. The snorkeling was fabulous! We saw rays, tons of little fish, beautiful corals and even three nurse sharks resting in a cave. They even took us to a secluded island so my mother in law could snorkel from the beach. Amazing family day!

We went to Spanish Wells and Governors Harbor (Sip Sip was excellent but pricey).Rent a golf cart to explore each Island (about $60). Rainbow Inn on Eleuthera was one of our best meals. There were fruit and veggies stands along the way.

The little biting flies did eat us alive. We tried the oil, and it worked as long as you kept applying. I wore long sleeves and pants in the evenings. My son was even pulled out of class after we returned to ask him about his "rash". We could have stayed inside, but it was just too beautiful on the deck!

Overall, a great stay in paradise. We made memories as a family that will last a lifetime!

Owner's Response: It was great meeting you all. Happy that you found that you had plenty of room at Turtle Cove for your group. Most of our guests spend much time on the dock. It is a lovely place to watch all the marine life and amazing sunrises and sunsets. There are beautiful areas to explore by ocean kayak around Turtle Cove and most folks can catch dinner from the dock. Captain Ron and Captain Smiley certainly enjoyed their day with you, too! Happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and have great memories of your vacation. Thank you so much for all the lovely photos of your vacation that you shared with us. Beautiful, Secluded Home with Easy Reef Access!

  • 5 of 5

What a secluded getaway! Close to all the secret Eleuthera beaches and attractions. The boat is a must, and it was our gateway to the nearby Devil's Backbone reef where we speared dinner for the week and enjoyed the underwater views that were better than an aquarium. Briland (Harbour Island) is right across the bay, a quick 10-15 minute boat ride away. My favorite part of this house was the easy access to Tay Bay beach, a remote beach with a private path back to this house. This is a spearfisherman's paradise. If that's not your cup of tea, we caught plenty of bar jack off the dock. Just be sure to cover up when you are outside if you are there during certain times of the year- there are biting flies. They were out in full force on this December trip! This was the only downside about the location. When you are in a house on the water, you are near the rocks and seaweed, both of which biting flies love, unfortunately. We were bit up very badly but if you keep the windows shut and the AC running it will keep the flies out of the house. Sadly, this meant coffee in the living room instead of the beautiful porch, but no one else before us seemed to have this problem so hopefully it's just an unlucky thing for us. We will definitely be back if Lorraine installs one of those carbon dioxide traps other houses on the island have.

The house comes with all the necessities you could think of (it even had a percolator!) and a great car we found to be reliable. Lorraine's sons were very helpful and nice, coming out to show us the place and fix the generator when it needed a little help. You are staying in the middle of nowhere (although the Bluff grocery store is only a 15 minute drive away) with no one around you. We loved being that secluded. What a memorable vacation! Thanks Lorraine! Thanks Scuba+Smiley :)

Owner's Response: Yes, Turtle Cove is the most secluded getaway on the island of Eleuthera. Most of our guests do enjoy the use of a boat so they can explore the nearby reefs and islands. The sea around Turtle Cove is the most beautiful anywhere. The beach at Turtle Cove is one of the most beautiful beaches in The Bahamas. Most guests are able to catch dinner from the dock, and I’m happy to hear that you caught your share. The very small gnat type bugs called sand flies in The Bahamas and no-see-ums in Florida and other States do show up around the times of sunrise and sunset if there is no wind at all. Unfortunately, there was no wind at all for three of the eight days you vacationed at Turtle Cove, which is quite a rare occurrence. On those very still days the no-see-ums were out around the times of sunrise and sunset all over the island of Eleuthera. The upside is that those very still days are great days to be out in the boat. Once you are off land, the no-see-ums are not a problem, and you get to enjoy the most beautiful still water with over 70 feet of visibility. Turtle Cove is one of the few homes on Eleuthera that has installed no-see-um proof window and door screens throughout. These screens do work at keeping the no-see-ums out. We do advise all of our guests that if they do want to go outside when no-see-ums are present that they will just need to put a layer of oil (suntan oil, coconut oil, – really any kind of oil) on their skin, and the no-see-ums will die when they touch the oil and before biting them. When you want to come inside, you can just shower off the oil. This approach really works as many locals will attest. Unfortunately, there are no gadgets that can be installed to prevent no-see-ums. It is very rare throughout the year to have days that are very still with no wind, so, you are correct, most of our guests have never experienced no-see-ums, and they do enjoy the beautiful views from the front porch daily. Views from the living room aren’t too bad either. Happy to hear that you found everything you needed was provided at Turtle Cove. Thanks, my sons are good guys, and are happy to help our guests with anything they may need. Turtle Cove is the place to be if you want to be in a very secluded spot where your foot prints are the only ones in the sand. I’m happy that you loved your vacation at Turtle Cove and have taken home many good memories. We look forward to seeing you again.

Privacy and Relaxation Galore!

  • 4 of 5

We visited Turtle Cove in April 2014. At first I thought the cottage was a bit too rustic for my liking but quickly got used to the quiet (when the generator is off) and basic conditions. The property is beautiful and we loved walking to "our beach", a lovely 5 minute walk down a tropical path. The included car is a wonderful perk. When we got home, we realized that we didn't need luxury, that this was actually one of our favorite vacations and for the first time, we are returning to a vacation home. We have never found our perfect place. I just booked a return visit, this time reserving a boat. Lorraine is wonderful to work with, even providing me my favorite Bahamas treat, coconut bread waiting for me when we arrived. If you like to just unwind, be with your favorite person, relax and recharge this is the place for you!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review! Yes, Turtle Cove offers PRIVACY and RELAXATION like no other rental. These are two very important points for all of our repeat renters. Yes, Turtle Cove is not luxurious, but is clean and well-kept and offers quiet, privacy, and relaxation..... Turtle Cove is a place that "grows" on guests the longer they are there. Guests have said that they were not too sure about it on DAY ONE, but by DAY SEVEN they positively didn't want to leave. I think some people arrive at Turtle Cove so stressed that they need to take some time to relax, unwind, and adjust to enjoying a very simple life with beautiful natural surroundings; they start re-evaluating what is really more important in life. I'm so happy that you appreciate how truly beautiful and unique the property is at Turtle Cove. How many places in the world can one go and have miles of the most beautiful beach in the world all to themselves? The vehicle offered with the rental of Turtle Cove saves our renters about $190/wk. in car rental fees, so, it is, indeed, a nice perk. The generator is housed away from the villa, so it would be a very rare occurence for guests inside the home to hear the generator. I'm so happy that you have decided that Turtle Cove was your favorite vacation and the first ever vacation spot to which you will be returning for a second time. We have received your booking for Turtle Cove and a boat for March 2015 and, again, October 2015! Thank you. A boat is a wonderful way to explore the nearby islands, reefs, and even more beautiful deserted beaches. Just remind me about your coconut bread a few days before you arrive in March, and we'll try to get some made just for you. Turtle Cove is definitely for those who like to unwind, relax, recharge, and enjoy quiet time with family and friends. It has been our pleasure to meet you, and we look forrward to welcoming you back in March 2015 and October 2015. Sunny smiles :) Lorraine and Capt. Smiley

Turtle Cove is very secluded having no homes or commercial buildings within 3 miles of the property in any direction. This location is not for those looking for luxury and pampering. It is good for those who appreciate peace and quiet, for those who love the tropical outdoors, and for those who can entertain themselves by kayaking, boating, fishing, snorkeling, beach combing, viewing historic ruins, and occassionally boating or driving (3+ miles) to 'civilization' for a fantastic lunch or dinner, or a little shopping.
