Dreaming of a private island vacation, but can't quite afford one?
If you're looking for peace, quiet, and privacy, you've just stumbled upon paradise. Welcome to Turtle Cove, North Eleuthera, Bahamas. Turtle Cove is the most secluded villa rental on mainland Eleuthera Bahamas. This lovely, spacious, fully-equipped 4BR/2BA vacation home rental is located on a peninsula of four beautiful oceanfront acres of tropical fruit trees (at least 20 different varieties) and flowering trees in every color of the rainbow. The landscaping around the Turtle Cove villa is truly a delight to the eyes, and is a wonderful place for bird watching. Turtle Cove offers a fabulous view of the sea, the sunrise, the sunset, Harbour Island, and other surrounding cays. As the name, 'Turtle Cove', suggests, guests usually see beautiful turtles around the property every day.
This native-style Bahamian villa offers its own private dock and coves of deserted pink sand beach that are private enough for private swimming and sunbathing. The closest neighboring home or commercial establishment is more than three miles away in any direction; yet, Turtle Cove is within a short ride by boat and/or car to Harbour Island, Spanish Wells or other quaint towns on Eleuthera where you may visit historical landmarks, dine at quaint eateries, browse the native markets or explore interesting caves. The famous, historic Preacher's Cave is only a few miles away; it is a great place to explore. Preacher's Cave is where the first European settlers took shelter after they shipwrecked on Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef in 1648.
The area is known for its great bone fishing; bonefish have been caught from the home's private dock! The area also offers great snorkeling and fishing, and the famous Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef is less than a 1/4 mile away. Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef is world famous for reef fishing, lobstering, and snorkeling, and plays a very important part in the local history of the surrounding islands. Turtles and pods of dolphins frequent the area around Turtle Cove, and there are many deserted nearby islands and beaches to explore.
Fishing charters, diving charters, snorkeling guides, tour guides, caving excursions, rental boats, and rental cars are available for your enjoyment.....or you may just want to relax in paradise.
For your enjoyment this vacation rental offers free use of bicycles, and ocean kayaks that you may use to explore the beautiful natural surroundings. (Otherwise bicycles and kayaks are expensive to rent separately.)
Turtle Cove is great for those rental parties that definitely want to stay off the beaten track. If you are looking for a real natural escape with no neighbors right next door, and where the fishing and snorkeling are second to none, then, Turtle Cove is the place for you. Most guests never see another soul at Turtle Cove; a few run into a lost tourist or two or a local farmer turning around at the end of the road.
Please note that Turtle Cove is completely 'off the grid', and, as such, water and electricity conservation is encouraged.

We are a local family living in Spanish Wells Eleuthera Bahamas. Our family dates back to the original Eleutheran Adventurers, the first European settlers in The Bahamas dating back to 1648 who shipwrecked just a few miles from Turtle Cove. Brian aka Capt. Scuba is a licensed boat captain and works full time as a lobster diver. When not diving commercially for lobsters, he is a local fishing & snorkeling guide, and also offers area tours and cave exploring. (Some have called him the Crocodile Dundee of North Eleuthera.) Brent aka Capt. Smiley is also a licensed boat captain who also offers fishing and snorkeling trips, boat rentals, and golf cart rentals. He is also a local rental property manager. Lorraine is the local North Eleuthera realtor and will be pleased to show you all the best local real estate deals (her listings and all other agents' listings) when you are in town. Just give her a call if you would like any information on the local real estate market or a free real estate tour.
Brent Beauregard purchased this house in 1991
We found Turtle Cove in 1991 and fell instantly in love with the place. There are many little coves of beach on the peninsula and one long amazingly beautiful beach on the north side that seems to go on forever and there are no other souls in sight. The area around Turtle Cove is very private and secluded, and, yet, groceries, restaurants, bars, etc. are close enough for us at 3 - 5 miles away.
Turtle Cove is a very unique property. It offers seclusion. There are no other homes or commercial establishments within 3 miles of the property. The property also offers many coves of pinkish sandy beaches and a amazing beach that seems to stretch forever on the north side. You really don't know how nice it is to have a beach all to yourself until you try it. Turtle Cove also offers a dock on the protected east side of the property, which is great for persons that like boating and fishing, etc. It is very rare to find a property that offers both a beach and dock. The property offers many tropical fruit trees where guests may pick fresh fruit whenever it is in season. Most guests see beautiful turtles around the property just about every day. The property is completely off the grid and water and energy conservation is encouraged. Ocean kayaks and bicycles are offered free of charge to guests of Turtle Cove. A jeep rental is offered to guests of Turtle Cove at a discounted rental rate.
My wife and we're looking for a place to completely escape the real world...and we found it at Turtle Cove. It was just what we hoped it would be...Perfectly secluded, quiet and relaxing! We started our days watching the sunrise over the water from the porch...beautiful! We watched countless sea turtles and fish from the dock and the beaches. Sunsets and star watching were favorites. We only made a couple quick trips to gather supplies because we didn't want to be away from the dock and the water. We had everything we needed and being off the grid was a treat. We can't wait to get back!
2.2 miles down the road from preachers cave is a home worth going. I chose off the grid as this was how it was described and it is on point!!
Right on the water looking across at Harbour Island and 10 minutes drive from the Spanish Wells ferry, it is idyllic. No one will bother you unless they are lost. We were there 25 days and 4 cars total arrived (all lost). This is not a resort. not for all that want pampering and your meals made for you. You do it all. It is worth it!! You must rent a car. There is a dock if you decide to rent a boat and an easy trek across to Harbour Island. The 5 minute walk on the "secret path" through the brush takes you to your won private beach. There are 131beaches on Eleuthera and this is in the top 3. And all yours!!! The beach at Spanish Wells is gorgeous as is Harbour Island. Nice shops on HI and we enjoyed Runaway Hill for dinner. Taking time to drive to Rainbow Cay Inn (about 40 miles) is worth it. Monday is Pizza night and great entertainment. We went to St. Lucia after Eleuthera for 2 weeks and now in Bequia, St. Vincent for 2 weeks. Trust me, the beach at Turtle Cove beats everyone.
Just returned home from 10 days atTurtle Cove, we wished it was longer. We arrived at the house and was greeted by Brent and Brian, who had fresh mangos and sour oranges for us and after a short walk through of the house, we were on our way to one of the best vacations we've ever had. Turtle Cove might not be for everyone, but it was perfect for my wife and I. The generator was no problem, we used it at night for the a/c and in the mornings to make coffee, on cooler nights we didnt use it at all. Renting the car is a must staying at this house and the boat, the best way to get around to all the secluded beaches and Harbour Island. We made almost daily trips to the Devils Backbone to some of the best snorkeling we have ever experienced but mostly spent our time on the private beach just a short walk thru the water or a 2 minute boat ride, next to the house. The dock was amazing, we dumped our food scraps everyday and the amount of fish that came was amazing. But the nights were even more incredible on the dock, we listened to music, had wine and enjoyed the night sky. We are definitely planning a return trip in the near future as soon as we can. If you are looking to get away from it all, Turtle Cove is a great place to stay!
Thank you Lorraine, Brent and Brian for sharing your house with us! We look forward to seeing you again!
What a wonderful place. Don't let the trek to the house alarm you, the reward is worth it. Don't let the fact that the electricity is supply by generator alarm you, it was a simple key start. There is no beach directly at the house, but after a pleasant walk on a well kept path, you will
find yourself alone on a fabulous beach. At low tide I
would guess you could walk two miles from one end to the other. We never saw another person on the beach.
The house was very comfortable. The SUV was an
absolute must since the grocery store was several miles
away. A boat is highly recommended although we had a great time with the kayaks. But the absolute best part was the dock. Something new happened everyday day. One day and eel came swimming out of the tires. Lots of beautiful fish hang out under the dock. Two french
angels. Lots of sergeant majors. Turtles. Rays. It was our own personal aquarium. We had a great time there and so lost track of time when Brent came to pick us up we thought he had come a day early. If you want to get away, this is the perfect place.
One note that has nothing to do with Turtle Cove. We arrived January 21 and even though we are from Iowa and used to the cold, it felt cool most of the time and we
were only able to tolerate getting in the water once. Too cold.
We spent a week in January 2015 at Turtle Cove with 3 teenagers, my mother-in-law, my cousin, and myself and hubby. There was plenty of room for all of us. The second living area has two rooms and a shared bath. The wall doesn't go all the way to the ceiling so it's not the most private area but worked well for our family. We spent most of our time at the end of the dock. The sunrises and sunsets were absolutely amazing! We loved watching the fish and saw a ray, many turtles, and even a small nurse shark. We enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling every day and the kids loved fishing off the dock. The short, 10 minute walk to the most amazing, private beach is well worth the walk every day. We took the cooler and spent the day just floating around. We only ever saw one other group on the beach and they had come in by boat. We grilled most meals. I wish I had looked through the provided cookbooks on day one!
Our favorite day was boating with Captain Ron and Captain Smiley. The snorkeling was fabulous! We saw rays, tons of little fish, beautiful corals and even three nurse sharks resting in a cave. They even took us to a secluded island so my mother in law could snorkel from the beach. Amazing family day!
We went to Spanish Wells and Governors Harbor (Sip Sip was excellent but pricey).Rent a golf cart to explore each Island (about $60). Rainbow Inn on Eleuthera was one of our best meals. There were fruit and veggies stands along the way.
The little biting flies did eat us alive. We tried the oil, and it worked as long as you kept applying. I wore long sleeves and pants in the evenings. My son was even pulled out of class after we returned to ask him about his "rash". We could have stayed inside, but it was just too beautiful on the deck!
Overall, a great stay in paradise. We made memories as a family that will last a lifetime!
What a secluded getaway! Close to all the secret Eleuthera beaches and attractions. The boat is a must, and it was our gateway to the nearby Devil's Backbone reef where we speared dinner for the week and enjoyed the underwater views that were better than an aquarium. Briland (Harbour Island) is right across the bay, a quick 10-15 minute boat ride away. My favorite part of this house was the easy access to Tay Bay beach, a remote beach with a private path back to this house. This is a spearfisherman's paradise. If that's not your cup of tea, we caught plenty of bar jack off the dock. Just be sure to cover up when you are outside if you are there during certain times of the year- there are biting flies. They were out in full force on this December trip! This was the only downside about the location. When you are in a house on the water, you are near the rocks and seaweed, both of which biting flies love, unfortunately. We were bit up very badly but if you keep the windows shut and the AC running it will keep the flies out of the house. Sadly, this meant coffee in the living room instead of the beautiful porch, but no one else before us seemed to have this problem so hopefully it's just an unlucky thing for us. We will definitely be back if Lorraine installs one of those carbon dioxide traps other houses on the island have.
The house comes with all the necessities you could think of (it even had a percolator!) and a great car we found to be reliable. Lorraine's sons were very helpful and nice, coming out to show us the place and fix the generator when it needed a little help. You are staying in the middle of nowhere (although the Bluff grocery store is only a 15 minute drive away) with no one around you. We loved being that secluded. What a memorable vacation! Thanks Lorraine! Thanks Scuba+Smiley :)
Discount Jeep rental available.
Turtle Cove is very secluded having no homes or commercial buildings within 3 miles of the property in any direction. This location is not for those looking for luxury and pampering. It is good for those who appreciate peace and quiet, for those who love the tropical outdoors, and for those who can entertain themselves by kayaking, boating, fishing, snorkeling, beach combing, viewing historic ruins, and occassionally boating or driving (3+ miles) to 'civilization' for a fantastic lunch or dinner, or a little shopping.
