The property offers you historic perspective with a modern decor. Centrally located in NW Washington, DC with easy access via Metro to all the tourist sites. Few minutes to Verizon Center and the Washington, DC Convention Center.
Spacious and central location is definitely a plus. Also like the fact that the neighborhood is growing and offers great local coffee houses, restaurants, and bars.
Colin's place is absolutely incredible - this apartment/home really exceeded our expectations. It seems newly remodeled and has a gorgeous kitchen and bathrooms and the rooms are wonderful. We were very comfortable here and Colin was quick to reply to any of our needs. Definitely recommend.
Mr. Powell's place is clean, comfortable, and set up like a private hotel. He responds quickly to questions and makes sure guests have info about the house, the neighborhood, and seeing the sights in DC. There was parking on the block every day, and getting into the city center was a snap. Grilling on the porch bbq was a highlight of our long weekend!
This rowhouse had all of the comforts of home and was close to all of the DC attractions and if not close, the train was 5 blocks away or the bus was down the street. The home has obviously been remodeled in spots and was well done- the bathrooms were really nice, the kitchen and dining had everything we needed, and the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen is a little tall, my husband is 6 foot 1 and could only reach the bottom of the upper cabinets. There was a step stool available to help us out when needed. There are a lot of sirens going on a lot of the time in DC, and the neighborhood we were in was not immune to that. The owner is well organized and his instructions were clear and easy to understand. Check in and out went very smoothly.
What I find most surprising about this property is that there are only two reviews before mine. There is a visitors' book filled with very positive comments from the many guests who have stayed there previously . This is really gratifying for the owner but doesn't help people when trying to decide whether or not to book this property and have only the information on the web to help them.
We stayed in October 2015 and were extremely fortunate with the weather; in fact it was really hot with beautiful blue skies. Colin our host had thoughtfully left a whole stack of bottled water for us; very welcome indeed.
We had spent several days in NY prior to arriving in Washington and arrived into the main railway station. The house is a fairly short cab ride away and is situated on a pleasant tree-lined avenue. Inside there is absolutely everything you need; a well-equipped kitchen to enable you to stay in and make meals should you so wish (augmented by a BBQ outside on the porch), washing/drying facilities and fast free wifi.
The house was scrupulously clean, the beds very comfortable and there was a plentiful supply of high quality towels in a cupboard on the landing upstairs. Bathrooms were very well appointed with good flow rate to the showers. (We have stayed in some hotels where you are lucky if you get a trickle of water from the showers!).
On our first day we walked into Washington and along the monuments walk. It is walkable - depending on your level of mobility. After that we used the metro as it saved time. The nearest metro is at Shaw-Howard U on the green or yellow lines and NOT Rhode Island Avenue on the red line. The system is very easy to use. You buy an initial card/ticket which comes loaded with around $8 of travel. When you exit the system take a note from the readout how much is left on the card as you may need to top up via the machines for that purpose (like the Oyster card in London).
If you turn left when leaving the house there are loads of restaurants to choose from on U Street a short walk away; a real multi-cultural, multi-ethnic eating experience is available. You can have a taste of virtually any type of cuisine from anywhere on the planet. For those coming next year or later there will be even more to choose from as this area is very much "up and coming" and more chefs and restaurants are choosing to site themselves here. Our party of four (4) arrived to clean, spacious, comfortable and warm accommodations. The detailed e-mail and Guest Book instructions provided thorough information on the alarm system, parking, getting to the Metro, restaurants, sightseeing, etc., which contributed to a seamless stay.
Colin was a gracious host! We called him very late on the night we arrived and he was refreshingly very accommodating to us. (An added PLUS!)
Instead of driving, we opted to take the Metro to the National Mall. It was a very short walk/ride. We did some shopping at City Place Mall in nearby Silver Springs, MD. They've got some great shops and eating places there.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone visiting the DC area.

We stayed at this address for a week. The house was very comfortable: spacious rooms that were well appointed, good air conditioning, and all the amenities that a guest could want. The neighborhood was better than I had expected, so there were no problems with that. Overall, staying here was a seamless experience and I would highly recommend this house to future guests.
Property was easy to find, directions for entry simple and house was clean and ready for guests. Location was approx 1.3 miles to Convention Center (4 professionals staying in the house as an alternative to hotel life). Metro close by if sightseeing, however many restaurants within walking distance. Owner available and easy to communicate with.
Trendy area in town, lots of restaurants a few local bars (always crowded) and within walking distance to the Green line Metro at Shaw/Howard. If you're looking for livelier areas, a short taxi ride to Logan Circle, Adams Morgan, U Street Corridor (walking distance), Georgetown Law School, Howard University, and Catholic University. Bike share for adventurous bicycle riding tourists. Stay in the heart of DC amongst the Washingtonians, while enjoying the culture and city living.
