About Barbara Wille

I am a semi-retired teacher who spends my time hiking, swimming, jet skiing and traveling. I love art and all types of music. I spend my summers between my home in the Poconos and my condo near the Jersey shore. In the winter, I go to Hawaii for several months to visit friends and enjoy traveling to Europe in the fall.

Barbara Wille purchased this house in 1999

Why Barbara Wille chose Poconos

I fell in love with this property because it was right on the water.

I can go swimming, kayaking or tubing from my backyard or just put my beach chair in the creek and sit and read a good book. There are many waterfalls as you walk along the creek and a lake on top of the hill where I go at night to sit and reflect on my day. I love watching all the wild animals. I see deer crossing the creek and wild turkeys, ducks and geese. The lighting in the mornings is especially beautiful shining through all the windows. It feels so warm and cozy. I enjoy all the peace and serenity that surrounds me.

What makes this house unique

This property is very secluded with no visible neighbors. I like the privacy and especially the view from my kitchen window. It is truly a magical place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

In late October with my young friend Katrien, I celebrated my 90th birthday in the setting of a fantasy I'd once described to her: a quiet cabin in the mountains, no neighbors nearby, trees and rough terrain, and a gurgling stream. And then, thanks to Katriens computer skills, Behold, there it was! Such clear fresh air besides (until the rain came), and a small group of late-traveling raptors for intermittent company. The house itself had many more comforts and pluses than the fantasy would have allowed and I cherished them The warmth, the kitchen, easy chairs. But it was the warmth and loveliness and wealth of interest of the hostess herself that permeated the space and made the welcome unbelievably rich. Reading a bit of Hawaiis history, returning to the Prophet for the first time in 70 years, browsing among snapshots and feeling the warmth of friendships they represent, just sitting in comfort on the sofa and watching the forest landscape.

For me, though, the best and most magical hours were spent standing or seated on the cabin steps watching the stream as it leisurely passed in front, veered right, debated for a moment whether to branch (decided not), picked up steam and went over some cascades, then disappeared from view The movement of the water was clarified by fallen leaves and those days need no reminders - they're with me always-yet the precious little "bejeweled notecase you"d left in greeting in your Pocono home remains active on my desk, with a few leaves remaining. Those were rare and wonderful days, Barbara. With a full heart, I thank you.

With love, Sue

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

Camella and I fell in love with the retreat. From the moment we stepped thru the door we felt at home.

The view from the deck is memorizing. sitting by the water in the evening and listening to the water cascading over the rocks is so peaceful and relaxing you feel completely at peace.Watching the ducks in the morning while we had our morning coffee was a blessing.

We both felt renewed and felt so blessed to be able spend a week in a piece of paradise.

The view and the retreat touched our souls.Camella practice her yoga and we would meditate by the stream feeling like we did not have a care in the world.

The house has such a good comforting feeling and you feel like it was always a part of your life.

If you're looking for a piece of heaven We would highly recommend you stay there and let all the stress of the world wash away as you watch the water cascading by.We will definitely stay there again and again. Trails and the numerous waterfalls are a experience you do not want to miss.

The surrounding towns have some great spots to eat and some unique shops .We know you will love this place as much as we do.

Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here and we loved it! So did our dog! It was very peaceful and serene. I loved hearing the sound of the creek all day.

This was exactly the type of getaway we were looking for. We drove 30 min to go hiking at Raymondskill Falls (which I highly recommend) and the waterfalls are breathtaking, not to mention it was free! There are so many beautiful places that you can hike for free.

Barbara was very friendly and helpful with giving suggestions of places to check out. We will definitely come back here!

Can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

This property was just at the pictures show! It is right near the water and you could hear it from the bedroom while falling asleep every night. The kids enjoyed learning how to kayak and fish. I LOVED the huge deck and views from it. I could wake up and drink my coffee there every morning.. Which made it hard to leave. We drove 15 minutes to hike to a waterfall. Needless to say, I did not hear a peep from the dog or kids the entire way home after our long weekend there. From playing in the stream to just running around having fun (without electronics) they were exhausted!! I would come back and deff recommend to come here.

Amazing House

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent our 1 year wedding anniversary at the house and it was amazing. The house was beautiful and very peaceful. Having the lake in the backyard made such a difference. Barbara was a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely be coming back and have recommended the house to my family and friends.
