About Barbara Wille

I am a semi-retired teacher who spends my time hiking, swimming, jet skiing and traveling. I love art and all types of music. I spend my summers between my home in the Poconos and my condo near the Jersey shore. In the winter, I go to Hawaii for several months to visit friends and enjoy traveling to Europe in the fall.

Barbara Wille purchased this house in 1999

Why Barbara Wille chose Poconos

I fell in love with this property because it was right on the water.

I can go swimming, kayaking or tubing from my backyard or just put my beach chair in the creek and sit and read a good book. There are many waterfalls as you walk along the creek and a lake on top of the hill where I go at night to sit and reflect on my day. I love watching all the wild animals. I see deer crossing the creek and wild turkeys, ducks and geese. The lighting in the mornings is especially beautiful shining through all the windows. It feels so warm and cozy. I enjoy all the peace and serenity that surrounds me.

What makes this house unique

This property is very secluded with no visible neighbors. I like the privacy and especially the view from my kitchen window. It is truly a magical place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

In late October with my young friend Katrien, I celebrated my 90th birthday in the setting of a fantasy I'd once described to her: a quiet cabin in the mountains, no neighbors nearby, trees and rough terrain, and a gurgling stream. And then, thanks to Katriens computer skills, Behold, there it was! Such clear fresh air besides (until the rain came), and a small group of late-traveling raptors for intermittent company. The house itself had many more comforts and pluses than the fantasy would have allowed and I cherished them The warmth, the kitchen, easy chairs. But it was the warmth and loveliness and wealth of interest of the hostess herself that permeated the space and made the welcome unbelievably rich. Reading a bit of Hawaiis history, returning to the Prophet for the first time in 70 years, browsing among snapshots and feeling the warmth of friendships they represent, just sitting in comfort on the sofa and watching the forest landscape.

For me, though, the best and most magical hours were spent standing or seated on the cabin steps watching the stream as it leisurely passed in front, veered right, debated for a moment whether to branch (decided not), picked up steam and went over some cascades, then disappeared from view The movement of the water was clarified by fallen leaves and those days need no reminders - they're with me always-yet the precious little "bejeweled notecase you"d left in greeting in your Pocono home remains active on my desk, with a few leaves remaining. Those were rare and wonderful days, Barbara. With a full heart, I thank you.

With love, Sue

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

Camella and I fell in love with the retreat. From the moment we stepped thru the door we felt at home.

The view from the deck is memorizing. sitting by the water in the evening and listening to the water cascading over the rocks is so peaceful and relaxing you feel completely at peace.Watching the ducks in the morning while we had our morning coffee was a blessing.

We both felt renewed and felt so blessed to be able spend a week in a piece of paradise.

The view and the retreat touched our souls.Camella practice her yoga and we would meditate by the stream feeling like we did not have a care in the world.

The house has such a good comforting feeling and you feel like it was always a part of your life.

If you're looking for a piece of heaven We would highly recommend you stay there and let all the stress of the world wash away as you watch the water cascading by.We will definitely stay there again and again. Trails and the numerous waterfalls are a experience you do not want to miss.

The surrounding towns have some great spots to eat and some unique shops .We know you will love this place as much as we do.

Like a Storybook Picture

We had a peaceful few days here and made some new friends in a family of deer that passed through the backyard every morning to cross the creek. We also saw a large gray egret and a hawk while sitting in the backyard. What a beautiful scene right from the back door.

Beautiful property, great location, very quiet, nice porch, creek behind the house, sweet owner, can't ask for more. BBQing with sounds of the creek in the background is the best. It was a wonderful experience and we'll visit every year! Highly recommended!!

Perfect retreat in the woods, beautiful & comfortable home, love the view and sounds of the creek

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything I needed for a rejuvenating escape to nature, including a deck and back yard I almost didn't want to leave, and living spaces that were well-thought out, comfortable and convenient. Kitchen is nicely equipped. Lots of hiking nearby, too. Barbara was a pleasure to interact with.

A private cottage in the Pocono's

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the Pocono's and it was memorable one. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. It is a charming very private cottage, surrounded with flowers, and lovely views of a creek, that sits below the house, and surprisingly there were no mosquitoes! The creek is deep enough to swim and our dog, loved going for a morning dip. The deck was fully furnished, with wooden rockers, wooden table and chairs, and complemented by hanging flowers. And it was roomy enough to do yoga.

The near by small town had conveniences of a market, liquor store, and drug store. We frequented the nearby National Recreation Area, which had 2 of Pennsylvania's largest waterfalls.

It is a lovely quiet bungalow situated on a very private lane, and I would highly recommend a visit.

Enjoy!
