I am a semi-retired teacher who spends my time hiking, swimming, jet skiing and traveling. I love art and all types of music. I spend my summers between my home in the Poconos and my condo near the Jersey shore. In the winter, I go to Hawaii for several months to visit friends and enjoy traveling to Europe in the fall.
Barbara Wille purchased this house in 1999
I fell in love with this property because it was right on the water.
I can go swimming, kayaking or tubing from my backyard or just put my beach chair in the creek and sit and read a good book. There are many waterfalls as you walk along the creek and a lake on top of the hill where I go at night to sit and reflect on my day. I love watching all the wild animals. I see deer crossing the creek and wild turkeys, ducks and geese. The lighting in the mornings is especially beautiful shining through all the windows. It feels so warm and cozy. I enjoy all the peace and serenity that surrounds me.
This property is very secluded with no visible neighbors. I like the privacy and especially the view from my kitchen window. It is truly a magical place.
I spent a long time searching for a great and affordable rental for my birthday. All of my diligence and patience paid off! When I found this listing, I just KNEW it was going to be a great place for my boyfriend, our dog and myself to relax and get away from Philadelphia for a few days.
Upon entering the house, we smelled the familiar scent of a fireplace and everything was neat and clean. The kitchen /living room has plenty of windows and a stunning view of the creek that runs through the backyard. Some of the other listings mentioned a hot tub in the yard and we were disappointed to find that there isn't one. The owner explained to me that it was from a different property. I kept my swimsuit in my suitcase and opted instead for a sweater as we sat in the chairs out back and built a fire. I watched the harvest moon rise between the gap in the trees as I rung in my birthday the best way I could think to.
Each morning, our dog would run outside and go swimming. I think that may be the happiest she's ever been! She absolutely did not want to leave and neither did we. Unlike many other vacation rentals I've stayed in, this one feels like a home. There are the owner's books and photographs throughout the house, CDs to listen to, cooking supplies, a cute crystal collection and various other signs of life.
We weren't able to use the grill because the propane tank was empty and I wasn't sure what to use to inflate the rafts. Minor hiccups in an otherwise flawless stay. Make sure to nap on the hammock and definitely do some exploring. I'm prone to making 1,000,000 pit stops to wander. I basically pull over every two minutes and go run through the woods to explore.
I would absolutely recommend this place to friends for a similar stay. I wouldn't suggest it if you're just looking to party because since it IS someone's home, it would seem disrespectful.
Thanks for everything and we will definitely be back!
Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely comments! I am sorry about the hot tub (comments) in the past reviews. This is a new listing on a homeaway site that was from a different house! We are working on all these "minor hiccups" as you put it and look forward to having you again at Yellow Magnolia!
4 out of 5 Stars
Camella and I fell in love with the retreat. From the moment we stepped thru the door we felt at home.
The view from the deck is memorizing. sitting by the water in the evening and listening to the water cascading over the rocks is so peaceful and relaxing you feel completely at peace.Watching the ducks in the morning while we had our morning coffee was a blessing.
We both felt renewed and felt so blessed to be able spend a week in a piece of paradise.
The view and the retreat touched our souls.Camella practice her yoga and we would meditate by the stream feeling like we did not have a care in the world.
The house has such a good comforting feeling and you feel like it was always a part of your life.
If you're looking for a piece of heaven We would highly recommend you stay there and let all the stress of the world wash away as you watch the water cascading by.We will definitely stay there again and again. Trails and the numerous waterfalls are a experience you do not want to miss.
The surrounding towns have some great spots to eat and some unique shops .We know you will love this place as much as we do.

A last minute long weekend trip was planned and when I found this beautiful home with the best view, I couldn't believe it. The house is so peaceful and it always you to breathe and refresh. Barbara was so wonderful and very helpful. You can tell she has great care for her home and she enjoys sharing it with others. Was was a wonderful blessing. We will definately be back.
Amazing cabin in an amazing location. If you quietly sit on the deck, you will see some spectacular wildlife, from bald eagles, cooper hawks, over 15 different species of birds to include rare sightings of two separate types of red headed woodpeckers. It is quiet and peaceful and located perfectly for many different hikes and bike rides. The fall foliage was great. As many of the reviewers have state, Barbara really has set up a very special place. I will return.
The view from the deck was amazing and the sounds of the creek were calming. Although the weather was not cooperative we managed to site see Bushkill falls and antique shops. The men did not get to fish in the creek but they still had a good time! Thanks for sharing your house with us.
My husband and I just returned from spending Labor Day Weekend at Barbara’s home. It was just what I needed. Hurricane Hermine kept herself away and the weather ended up being beautiful. There’s plenty to do in the area if you have kids but if you’re like me and just want peace and quiet in a beautiful setting then buy your supplies at the local Foodtown and hunker down- Just stay in and around the house and enjoy the zen-like outdoor environment that Barbara has created. Note-this is not a house for high-maintenance people, if you need stainless steel appliances, a Weber Genesis grill and king-size beds, then this is not the place for you. But if you’re laid back, cool and the gang, and appreciative of the natural beauty in life, then definitely reserve some time here. PS. I can’t even imagine how awesome it would be here in fall with the leaves changing, I can just picture myself around the fire pit or on the deck watching the golden leaves float down the creek. . .
This was one of the most peaceful houses we've ever rented. We loved having the creek right outside. I was looking for a relaxing vacation where I could sit back and read a book and that's what I found. It was quiet and there aren't any neighbors in the immediate area although we did find a couple of nice locals on our walks who were very friendly.
I can't remember when I last slept as much and as soundly. It rained on one of our days there and I was thrilled. Got to lay back, read my kindle and feel the breeze coming through the screen of the sliding glass door.. The saddest part was leaving, my boyfriend didn't want to leave and fell in love with having a creek within steps.. My little Maltese dog didn't want to leave either.. We plan on going back again sooner rather than later.. Barbara, the owner was very helpful and always a call away if needed. This was the first vacation I've taken in a long time that left me feeling renewed and not like I needed another vacation upon returning home..
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us Barbara!
My property is 5 minutes from Bushkill Falls, the Delaware River and offers many hiking trails with waterfalls. You will see deer, wild turkey and sometimes bear. You can walk or hike on the 25 mile McDade trail, canoe, kayak or SUP in the Delaware River nearby.
