Caressed by ocean breezes. Lulled by gentle waves. Ever-changing skies with spectacular clouds, glorious sunrises, multitudes of stars. Away from the bustle of town in a small beachfront residential community. Surrounded by peace and tranquility. Original art, sculpture pieces, oriental carpets. Luxury touches at a very affordable price. Secure WiFi broadband internet connection throughout the house.

The best snorkeling in East Hawaii is just a few steps away at the Wai 'Opae Marine Sanctuary. Reefs break the waves beyond the tide pools so even small children can float in the calm waters and see the multitude of colorful tropic fish.

It is the perfect spot for a few days or a long term stay.

The house is up on stilts with all living areas on the second floor, accessible by stairs. You can relax outdoors on the lanai gathering area or sit in the living room and enjoy the fresh salt air through the two french doors that open the living room to the lanai. The private garden below has fragrant Plumeria, bananas and pineapple.

Both bedrooms also face the ocean. The master bedroom with a queen bed opens on to the enclosed end of the lanai and features an outdoor shower accessible from the lanai or from the bedroom. It also has a private bath with a classic claw-foot tub and laundry facilities (full size washer and dryer), and a walk in closet. The loveseat in the master bedroom unfolds to a double foam bed. The second bedroom has a double bed and is across from the hall bath with stall shower.

The kitchen features a gas stove and includes all needed for preparing family meals, simple to elaborate.

The dining table can be expanded to seat 6.

Every room has a fan, cross ventilation and guide lights for comfort and safety.

Wife is a CPA practicing locally in Pahoa.

We love our Kapoho home and take pride in presenting one of the best rentals in the area for an affordable price.

We love to snorkel and watch the fishes, and Wai 'Opae is one of the best sites on the Island, certainly the best in E. Hawaii.

What makes this house unique

The sound of the breakers and the sea breezes are primo for relaxing and soothing the spirit. The outdoor shower is another amenity that provides an entrancing evening experience.

It's always hard to leave every time we go to Kahi Ko 'Ola Uhane.

My sons and I had a wonderful 6 days at your Kahi Ko 'Ola Uhane. You have thought of everything anyone could possibly need here and more!

We loved the tidepools, coral gardens, Champagne pond and the little town of Pahoa.

We will miss the cute geckos that live behind the mirror and dreser that come out to visit. We will let all our friends know how lovely your place is.

Mahalo, we had and Ono time!

EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS!!!!!!!!!

GREAT HOME. WELL EQUIPPED! Peaceful little community, completely walkable. Beach a block away with some of the best snorkeling ever!! Fragrant jasmine bush in the front yard. TOTALLY COMFORTABLE BEDS!

The OUTDOOR SHOWER was a GREAT TREAT, we used it exclusively, big shower head, nice hot water!!! Large expansive deck, perfect for a family or adults. GREAT LOCATION ON THE ISLAND. Perfect to hang out and relax or adventure out and come back to rejuvenate. LESS THAN 5 MINUTES TO ALANUI HOT PONDS. I cannot say enough about what a great value this property is, the owners were available and helpful and our stay was

Nice Home-Homeowner Problems

The home was as advertized. It was comfortable and included everything we needed and expected. We enjoyed the outdoor showers like everyone else.

This was our third VRBO rental, so we have some experience communicating with homeowners. David was not our favorite due to his attitude. We are seniors was maybe part of our communication problems with him. We informed David we would be arriving in the evening, he agreed to turning on the lights, which he did but not the outside ones, which is what we needed. We consequently had difficulty finding the home. We needed his help on the phone- he seemed annoyed. The house number is not visible at night and there wasn't a number on the newspaper box. The key box needed a flashlight to open, which was there but wasn't visible at night.

The next day we informed David the TV wasn't working. He assumed we didn't know how to work the controls. He mentioned that he was surprised we needed TV, most people visiting didn't watch. (He had not watched TV since 1979 was his comment). We wanted to know the results of the Super Bowl and keep curtain on news. He came the next day and found out it was in fact not working. He arranged for a repairman to come two day later but we would have to be there, which we reluctantly agreed to, he had an important appointment to attend.

Since everyone else writing reviews had better experiences with the owner, maybe he was having a bad couple of days?

Relaxing Oasis

Mahalo to David and Nancy for making their cozy home available to VRBO! It was comfortable and quiet, the perfect spot from which we explored the lower half of the Big Island. The Kapoho pools can't be beat for the diversity of marine life and the proximity of the property from the pools was perfect. We look forward to visiting again as soon as possible!

Very homey, spacious, well appointed home.

Very comfortable spacious home, with all the necessities provided. Tucked into a quiet secluded lot only a block from ocean. Sit on lanai and listen to ocean or fall asleep in one of the two lovely bedrooms to the sound of the waves. Outdoor private shower was a big hit, with indoor shower and claw foot tub as well. Fresh flowers in every room were beautiful and nice high ceilings in main living room. Owners were caring and great. The whole VRBO experience was seamless and easy.

A wonderful oasis

Indeed our spirit was renewed after a long flight and wintery weather in Canada. The home was nice and secluded and only a few blocks away from our daily snorkel routine. The environment of this secluded community is lush, full of greenery, beautiful trees and peaceful. It was only when we explored the west side of the island later on that we realised how spoiled we were with the abundance of vegetation. The outdoor shower was another highlight and so were the beautiful flowers all through the home.

Thank you David for making our stay so enjoyable in your well appointed home.

Laid Back Slower Pace

If you want to be away from all the rat race and enjoy Hawaii at a more normal pace, in a beautiful environment this is the place to do it.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your post - yes, Vacationland is 'away from it all', everyone contemplating staying here needs to know that driving will be necessary for services. But as you say, one gets to enjoy the slower pace of life and easy access to wonderful swimming and snorkeling.
