About the property

Quiet, Private, 3 Bedrooms, 2 baths, (Sleeps 6 including children)

Relax in the comfort and tranquility of this upgraded Cape style home located at the end of a private drive.

This well cared for home has many amenities to help make this your vacation home. The open floor plan has hardwood floors and a well equipped kitchen with marble counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen flows into the dining area and on into the living room area providing a welcoming space for family and friends to gather.

The adjacent family room has lots of windows providing views of an acre of lawn, shade trees and open space. This is a wonderfully comfortable room in which to watch the flat screen TV, play a video in the VCR, read, play cards and games or just chat with family and friends. There is wireless high speed internet throughout the house.

There are three bedrooms. The first floor has a queen bed, a private bath with walk in shower and a deck with an out side shower. The second floor has a very large bedroom with a king bed and a private deck. This bedroom shares a bath with the third bedroom which has two twin beds. The bedrooms and baths are well furnished EXCEPT FOR SHEETS AND PERSONAL TOWELS.

The basement has the washer and dryer, a second refrigerator and a finished room which can be used as an office. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, cooler and other items are stored here for your use. The ground level door makes it convenient to load and unload these into your car. There is also a half bath and a outside shower for rinsing off the beach sand after a fun day at the beach.

The deck, off of the family room, has a gas grill and a table for 6 with an umbrella. This is a great place to barbecue and enjoy a meal, or start on your tan. It is perfect for watching your gang enjoy a game of volley ball or other lawn game you might bring, or enjoy a morning coffee as the sun comes up. Often times there will be deer eating, geese and wild turkeys wandering around, ducks swimming in the frog pond and frogs sitting on the pond's edge.

Although this home is tucked away from the main road, it is only a half mile plus to the center of Edgartown village or to the town's bathing beach, walk, bike or go by car. We have a great island public bus system and lots of bike paths and walking trails. Both a bus stop and a bike path are at the bottom of Oakdale Drive.

TURNOVER DAY FOR THIS RENTAL IS MONDAY.

TENANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN SHEETS, PILLOW CASES AND PERSONAL TOWELS.

About Ruth

I was born, raised and lived most of my adult life in Edgartown.

Why Ruth chose Edgartown Area

My home was built in 1971 on land that has been in my family since the 1940's.

The house is clean, nicely furnished and well maintained. It is a very comfortable home for all ages. The large yard is great for family games.

What makes this house unique

This is a very quiet and peaceful area. There is no traffic as the house is at the end of the road.

I live elsewhere on the property which enables me to manage my rental home. I am also available to answer any question and share local information if needed.

MONDAY IS THE TURNOVER DAY FOR THIS RENTAL HOME. TRAFFIC IS EASIER TO AND FROM THE ISLAND AFTER THE WEEKEND.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Thank you for renting your beautiful home to us. It was very peaceful to come back to this house and be away from the hustle and bustle of the towns. We enjoyed visiting a new beach everyday! We loved South Beach for the waves, State Beach for the gentle warm water, Menemsha for the rock walls and Cappy Island for the seclusion.

Hint: if you are looking for parking in Edgartown center try the side roads of School Street or the tiny parking lot behind the diner! Worked every time."

A Great Surprise

  • 5 of 5

Three of us decided to travel to the Vineyard to see what all the fuss was about. We chose the off season and were not disappointed. This home was perfect in every sense of the word. The location was close to the town and the beach but was off of the beaten path making it ideal. We are bikers so the convenience of the bike path at the end of the drive was a delight. The house could not have been better as we each had our own room, the outdoor showers were great, and the layout of the living area was just right for someone to be quiet and read as others watched the big screen tv in the family area. Since we all believe we are good cooks, we were delighted in the kitchen which had everything we needed and more. This was the perfect place for us and we are already planning our return. There is so much to see and do on the Vineyard and this rental met our every need. The owner is on the property and was so very helpful in making suggestions. We never would have found Chilmark Chocolates without her!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure meeting you and your friends. I always enjoy answering questions on the where, what and when of Vineyard living. Thank you so much for leaving my rental in great condition. And the bottle of Cabernet was delightful. I look forward to your return in 2017.

Beauty, comfort and relaxation at Frog Hollow! Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our wonderful family getaway at "Frog Hollow" on Martha's Vineyard tremendously.

Coming up the driveway we were delighted to find a sweet home amidst well-groomed, natural landscaping surrounded by woods. We could see through the trees to some water, and there's a lovely pond within view.

Inside everything was extremely clean and we felt at home immediately. The owner has thought of just about everything you need for an uncomplicated, fun stay (from beach chairs to Ziploc bags!) and the rooms are open, airy and beautifully decorated - each with many personal touches. We especially enjoyed the outdoor showers and the 3!!! decks. Plenty of space for together-times and cozy spots to retreat to for a little quiet. The kitchen is a real highlight: completely equipped for preparing all those fresh veggies & seafood, a great grill and seating out on the deck for dining among the trees. This was our favorite spot to enjoy morning coffee and watch the birds, frogs, squirrels and even a deer!

The location was perfect for us - peaceful and relaxed, but easy to get to the shops, to town and - most important to us - to the beach. As enthusiastic walkers, we used the bike path to walk to the beach (a very scenic 18 min - would be great for a morning run) or to the shops (5 - 10 min) or into town (15 min). There is an excellent bus network in place on the Island and the bus stops at the end of the driveway - free into Edgartown or back, only $1.25 to South Beach or Oak Bluffs. Right off the bike path we hiked some lovely little trails in the nature preserve.

I forgot to mention how comfortable the beds were - we slept wonderfully with the windows open to hear the trees rustling and birds singing, always a lovely breeze at night.

This cozy, delightful home was the perfect place for an authentic Island experience - we will recommend it to our friends & family and will definitely come back soon for more!

A wonderful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

This home is very clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished and has a well equipped kitchen. The location is away from the main road and is at the end of the main driveway so there is no traffic passing by. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into the town or to the local public beach. There is a bike path near by and a public transit bus. The Fall time was great for our vacation. There was no lack of things to do on the island. Our husbands liked the fishing while the ladies explored around the island. We will definitely return.

Fabulous and convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We have traveled to this lovely place from Europe with many high expectations to accommodate our different family members (from age 3 to 76) and tastes (from quiet and restful to active and connected) as well as from "1st-timers" to the island to "old-timers".

The place is even better than the pictures - as these don't necessarily convey the feeling of openness to the large garden - as viewed from the house. The location is right on top of "the Village" of Edgartown - allowing very easy access to the beaches and town by bike. It is right next door to all shops - yet the fact it is slightly off the road (in the woods) allows full peace and privacy.

The house is setup and organized in a very user-friendly manner so it was immediately functional and the owner is located right nearby so was incredibly helpful when needed.

This location has met all our expectations and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!
