Pine Knoll Shores is known as one of the loveliest communities on the Bogue Banks Island which stretches from Fort Macon at east end to Emerald Isle at the west end. We have an extremely well patrolled and safe community.
Our home is well suited for a carefree family vacation. We are child friendly. We have an open level lot with trees and forested areas. You can walk to the beach in less than five minutes or a one minute drive to the gated private parking lot (free parking for our guests) with steps leading up to the 'sittum' where you can sit and eat or have an evening cocktail and a magnificent panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. (The 'sittum' has an outdoor shower area as well as a Porta-Potty in the parking area.) Another set of steps leads down to the beach and the dunes. If you bring your boat you will have free access privileges from gated private boat launch areas.
We are dog friendly with pets that are well trained and socialized and up to date on shots and flea treatments. Our beach is dog friendly and everyone is requested to please clean up. An additional security deposit of $100.00 PER PET is required and will be fully refunded within 14 business days after a satisfactory post-stay inspection.
DON'T BE INTIMIDATED BY OUR WHITE LIVING ROOM FURNITURE! THEY ARE WASHABLE SLIP COVERS AND WE PROVIDE 'THROW' COVERS LOCATED IN THE ROOM IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR PETS OR KIDS (OR ADULTS).
Our living room has a TV, VCR, DVD and a CD stereo player and comfortable seating. The room looks out over the deep frontage of the property onto a treed vista.
Our kitchen is very large with full amenities and seating at a solid pine table for up to eight people.
There is an ensuite bathroom in the master bedroom with a large shower stall. The bathroom in the main hall has a full bathtub/shower and was recently completely refurbished. A large sofa in the living room could accomodate a child (7th person) at parents discretion. Fresh linens and towels are included in the rental. $100.00 cleaning fee is in addition to the rental fee.

The present owners (daughter of the original owner) are professional designers who have updated the house with much love and hard work. You will find the furnishings an eclectic mix of the contemporary and antique.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
This has been a family owned seashore paradise for over forty years. The ultimate place to chill out, reconnect with family and nature, and just plain decompress. We think you will agree. If you are looking for tranquil and beautiful surroundings, you found it!
Just plain relaxing. While dining, watching birds feed throughout the day at the rear of the property. Visiting the beach especially in mornings and at the end of the day for that wonderful sunset. We have tons of books and videos for your enjoyment on those rainy days. And don't forget the Aquarium and historic Fort Macon. Four screen movie theater just five minutes from the house in Atlantic Beach. The Food Lion supermarket is located in the same complex as the theatre plus 4-5 restaurants and shopping. Morehead City is accessed by the bridge connected to the mainland. As the area has grown up over the years big box stores abound along the highway. The historic town of Beaufort is just 15-20 minutes drive and a fun town to visit and take in the visiting boats docked off of the boardwalk. Many fine restaurants throughout the town as well as shopping. Great for taking the kids after dinner for an ice cream cone.
Enjoy the Beaufort Maritime Museum !
This was a perfect home for our family of five to stay. The owners were excellent to work with, friendly, and full of knowledge about the area to make our stay more pleasant. We were close to great restaurants, the Aquarium, Fort Macon, and the town of Beaufort. We had a wonderful time. It was so nice to go out on the beach and sightsee during the day, and then come home to a private house at night. The owners really went out of their way to make this a home away from home.
We (two families with three kids between 1-6yrs of age and a dog) stayed at this lovely home at Pine Knoll Shores for a week in early June. Steve and Nancy are fantastic hosts, were easy to communicate with on both email and the phone and had provided us with all the information, down to the details, for a relaxed, pleasant beach vacation. The home itself was lovely, clearly very well-loved, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kids had high chairs and on request, the hosts even provided us with a pack n play for our toddler to sleep in. This is truly a designer's home and the signs of the artist are all over the house. The exquisitely clean, pristine and uncrowded beach, just a ten minute walk from the house, is one of the nicest we've been to on the east coast and we went twice a day on most days. We also went to the lovely NC state aquarium (less than a ten minute drive from the house) twice because our kids loved it so much! The neighborhood is great, people were very welcoming and we had many lovely long walks in the early mornings. We are grateful for an unforgettable stay.
Great pet friendly family style home.
Great response time and communication with the owner.
We look forward to another visit sometime soon
We loved everything about our stay - comfy beds, proximity to beach, sound and the sights. We spent two mornings on the beach and had a chance to visit the aquarium, Fort Macon and the Maritime museum. This was a perfect amount of time to spend away from home for our autistic family (me and my son)! Thanks again for offering a reasonably priced three night stay in such an obviously loved home. Our time there was perfect.
We stayed in Pine Knoll Shores this August for the second year at this home. It truly feels like a fun home, not a rental. The owners have created a whimsical and fun place at the beach. It is so nice to be in a great area for long walks and still so close to the beach. Another wonderful week.
Three adults stayed at the house for a week. The size of the house was more than enough space for us to spread out. The house was very clean and well stocked. The owners Steve and Nancy were very friendly and great to work with regarding lease and payment. Always answered my emails or calls immediately. The beach is very close to drive to and within walking distance. The location of the house was great .... Pine Knolls Shores is a lovely town. The private beach parking was a big plus. Our favorite spot was the "sittum" on the beach where we spent every evening having drinks and munchies. The blue ocean fish market is the Best. Thanks Steve for the information.
Pine Knoll Shores is a bird and sea turtle sanctuary-incredible bird watching! Minutes drive to NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. Nature trails throughout the township. Great safe area to bike in. Fort Macon at the north end of the Island is an historic treat for kids and adults. Also the town of nearby Beaufort which is great for restaurants and taking tour guided boat trips around the area.
