Escape to our affordable oceanfront duplex that has a bright, airy, cottage feel with stunning views of the ocean and nature. Admire the view from the inside or step outside onto the covered porch to catch an oceanfront breeze. There is also a dune landing steps from the beach with a bench and more outstanding views. Due to Emerald Isle's restricted off street parking the beautiful beaches are never crowded.

Fully equipped kitchen. Amenities also include hi-speed wireless service, outdoor shower and shared/washer dryer.

Additional Information: Emerald Isle's unique location affords homes on the island both beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Our home is located at the end of a no-through street so there is no traffic. The house is located minutes from restaurants, shopping, golf, kayaking, movie theaters, fishing, biking, water slide parks, tennis, basketball courts, an aquarium and many other activities. Other interests in the area include visits to historic Beaufort, Fort Macon, Swansboro, 1/2 or full day trips to Hammocks Beach State Park or Cape Look Out. (Both of these islands do not have any homes or commercial development and have great shelling.)

Rentals are Sunday-Sunday. There is a No Smoking policy and no pets are allowed. You must be at least 25 years old to rent the property. Prices listed are for weekly rentals. Nightly rentals are available off season or last minute during prime season if a week opens up. Prices include linens and cleaning during high season and cleaning only during off season. Note: Rates are subject to change without notice until confirmed.

About Debbie

Two families bought the duplex together in 2001. Each family has thoroughly enjoyed their memories spent at the house over the years. We have found it a rare occasion not to see dolphins swimming or pelicans flying by during our visits there. I especially love sitting at the dining table with my family and looking out at the ocean. Older family members love sitting on the porch in the shade and looking at the ocean without 'ever getting sand on their toes.' The children have loved the freedom of biking from the house for either long rides or to just go and buy ice-cream.

We had our family reunion at the Catalina East & West for the week of August 5, 2012 and then the "older folks" stayed a second week to recover from the reunion beginning on August 12, 2012 in Catalina East. We TOTALLY enjoyed ourselves during this time and were thrilled with the fact that the ocean was pretty much at our toes !! It was wonderful to wake up each day and enjoy the view and sound of the ocean. We had coffee etc. on the lower deck - just to be a little bit closer to the view and sometimes we watched the sunrise with the grandchildren who woke up way too early!

We played mini golf, hit golf balls at the range, played golf, raced in go carts, got soaked on bumper boats, visited Fort Macon, the NC Aquariam at Pine Knoll, Tryon Palace, Swansboro (lunch at Yana's was amazing - try the fruit fritters YUMMY!), Beaufort (6 hour catamaran ride with Lookout Cruises to Cape Lookout etc.) BUT most of the time we enjoyed each other and the beach.

The house was perfect for us and dealing with the owners was easy and they were always accessible. We plan our family reunions every four years, so look for us again in 2016!

Beautiful beach...beautiful views!

Let me start by saying that the location is fabulous! The views from the porch...watching the dolphins pass by in the early morning while sipping our coffee on the covered porch was priceless. We have older kids...15, 20 & 21. We were worried about them being bored but they had a great relaxing time. This is the first time that we rented a cottage right on the waterfront and now that we have experienced it we will always want to be right on the water. The kids had their run of the quiet beach to play wiffle ball and ride the waves. We enjoyed the local restaurants, mini golf and other adventures.

On the negative side.. we found the furniture in the living room and the bed in the master bedroom to be VERY uncomfortable. My very favorite most comfortable spot was the rockers on the covered porch overlooking the water. The cottage was very real luxuries which was just fine with us...but we felt that it needed a good thorough scrub down. The basics were taken care of ... vacuumed, countertops and frig clean but the kitchen towels, mitts, front and shelves of cabinets, vents, fan, bathroom rugs were all in need of a good cleaning.

Our neighbors next door were great. We enjoyed the time we spent with them and yet had our own space when we wanted it. is an adequate cottage in a FABULOUS location with a wonderful porch!

We really enjoyed our stay at Catalina West. It was great The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the comforters and pillows were nice! There were plenty of kitchen supplies, microwave and dishwasher. The owner was so helpful in assisting us, very prompt with a contract and a packet about the island and where to eat and shop. I want to mention that there is a fabulous bike rental shop on EI called 58 Bikes. We rented cruisers and thoroughly enjoyed the bike path to run errands ( er- shopping).We recommend "Chowdaheads" and "Andy's" for the budget minded, and "Kathyrn's Martini Bar and Bistro" had a great atmosphere, impeccable service (thanks Rob!). Captain Willis seafood had fresh seafood as well as wonderful gifts from 'Gullah Gourmet" to tuck into our carry-on luggage. A trip to Beaufort to ferry to Shackleford Island to shell and see the wild ponies was a highlight of our trip. The ocean and beach were wonderful, and sipping sangria on the deck on comfy deck chairs with our duplex neighbors was an experience I will always remember. My daughter and I couldn't have been happier- we want to go back soon!

Spectacular Oceanfront Getaway

I have stayed in Emerald Isle before but have never enjoyed myself more than when I spent the weekend at this property. As I wallked up the stairs, I was greeted by the most beautiful ocean views seen through the living room sliding glass doors. We loved sitting on the deck in our rocking chairs watching the waves and feeling the fresh sea breezes. Once I saw dolphins gracefully swimming by.

The location is perfect...just a few steps to the beach and off we'd go for a healthy three mile walk to the pier and back. A handy outdoor shower was refreshing and conveniently located next to the deck. We could walk down the quiet neighborhood streets or ride bikes into town. We went there on two separate occasions and found this home to be especially inviting, warm and cheery. This property has all the comforts of home, couldn't ask for much more. We hope to stay there again soon and bring our extended family as there is plenty of room.
