About Nancy Tardy

Nancy and I grew up in Colorado. We love backpacking, biking, and hiking. I spend most of my spare time hunting, fishing and getting the cabin ready for guests.

Nancy Tardy purchased this house in 1998

Why Nancy Tardy chose Northwest Colorado

I fell in love with the area when I was a boy hunting deer and elk in the mountains north of town. Although the area is developing, it still remains a more laid-back resort spot with great hunting, fishing and skiing.

What makes this house unique

Deer and elk are often seen in the hay meadow in front of the cabin. We can bike to town or up Rabbit Ears Pass for a more challenging road-ride. The Emerald Mountain State Wildlife Area lies two miles north.

Absolutely adorable, cozy, CLEAN cabin! Perfect to spend the holidays in. We cooked all of our meals in the cabin and it's perfectly equipped kitchen. We made fires each evening and played games. Our dog LOVED running through the several feet of snow. Snow-snowing on the property through the aspens was gorgeous. Cannot wait to return and stay for longer!

Best vacation we've ever taken

  • 5 of 5

We had THE most wonderful week at Haller Hideaway! The cabin was exceptionally clean, simple but oh so cozy, and we did not want to leave! The Steamboat area is absolutely beautiful in the fall. The town is lovely in every way. And the people of Steamboat were the friendliest we've ever met! But our time at the cabin topped it all. The setting is easy 15 min drive to town. It's perfectly secluded, very quiet, and we loved having coffee on the porch and watching our pups run and explore the field. The view from the cabin is just magnificent. The kitchen is well supplied for all cooking needs. Great bed and linens. My husband loved the use and efficiency of the wood stove in the living room. Bob and Nancy were great to work with. We can't recommend this highly enough. And we most certainly, can't wait to go back.

Stayed in this great cabin with my grand kids, dogs and husband. Wonderful vacation. The cabin fulfilled all of our needs, was clean, kid friendly, private and very comfortable. Great location for hiking, sightseeing and getting supplies from town. Had plenty to do for everyone! Lots of hummingbirds, elk and an occasional fox. No bugs! Laughed at the very few, tiny moths. We were anticipating the moths from the front range not these small nothings. Owners were wonderful. Easy to book. Will be returning for sure!

Pure Magic!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is fantastic. If you like waking up to deer in the front yard stay here. Super clean and comfortable. Great communication with the owners and nicely supplied with basic cooking supplies like spices, cooking oil etc...there was even coffee in case you forgot it. It was hard to pack up and leave!

It's just a short scenic drive to the mountain and town.

Fantastic Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the cabin for a long Surprise Birthday Weekend last September. It was perfect. The owners were very easy to work with and the cabin was extremely clean and accommodating. Our only complaint is that they do not do shorter stays anymore.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed the cabin. We work hard to keep it clean and well maintained. Routt County requires a 30-day minimum rental and we are following their rule. Please email to see if we have availability for shorter visits.

Lovely Nature and Family Time

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a wonderful 5 days at this rustic cabin. We have 2 little kids and a dog and everyone enjoyed themselves. The wood burning stove kept us cozy for the first snow, the kitchen had everything we needed and the view was AMAZING. Our 3 year old loved exploring the the woods behind the cabin and we had a pretty wicked game of soccer out front. We can't wait to come back and try out what could be the perfect sled hill! The owners have clearly put a lot of time and love into the cabin. It was neat and clean. Don't miss the sunrise on the deck with a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa! We will certainly be back.
