Exceeded all expectations
I rented this cabin for my wife's annual birthday trip, as we have begun what hopes to be a long tradition of visiting different cabins around the central Texas area, and this one will be very hard to top. The cabin was everything the website and photos presented it to be and more. The design and build out of the cabin was rustic but with all of the modern conveniences. The attention to details is impressive as nothing was left out. There were even bottles of wine for purchase which were very appreciative as we sat on the porch and enjoyed the magnificent scenery. We were very pleased with everything, and will definitely be back.
Thank you so much for your review of the Ruby Cabin. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated all the care that has gone into this little space. We hope you have you back as you build on your tradition.
Great, but could be amazing.
This cabin is awesome and the view is spectacular, the pictures do not do it justice and it was great getaway with the wife. I hate to be nit picky but I feel like with very little attention it could be amazing. For example, There was only 1 white and 1 red wine glass, no baking sheet, stainless steel cookware but nothing strong enough to scub the burnt bits off like a Brillo or scotch brite (one pan had 2 black squares burnt into it from a previous guest), The outdoor shower had a used bar of soap sitting in the holder, cobwebs and bathroom needed to be dusted and behind the headboard needed to be swept. This is just because we are accustomed to memory foam, and some may call us crazy, but the bed was too soft for us. Again, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return. However, I just feel like for the “luxury” price charged, $20 or less at Walmart and a word with housekeeping would would top this place off and make it absolutely amazing.
Great Cabin to Getaway
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It is located in an elevated and tucked away area off the road, which makes for a very secluded and quiet stay. Beautiful views of the hills. We saw a gray fox, deer and a lot of different kinds of birds. The cabin is very clean and is stocked with mostly everything (not food/condiments) you would need to cook and live for a few days. HEB is a close drive if you forget anything. The Emerald cabin is right next door but blocked by view with trees so it still feels very private. Fireplace wasn't available for use since it was April, but it did get chilly at night so that would have been fun.
We had a fun time hiking at Jacob's Well, Blue Hole Regional Park and Madrone Park (make sure to download a trail guide before tackling this last one). We also visited Salt Lick BBQ and a few wineries. Wifi internet was <1 mpbs but sufficient for work emails, etc. They have an awesome surround sound that goes outside as well, so bring an AUX cable and HDMI cord if you want to hook up your computer for movies. The hot tub is very relaxing for two people, easy to use. We plan on coming back for sure!
Secluded, 35+ mile view, nice sound system to all rooms and deck. Beautifully decorated.
The cabin was wonderful, private, and comfortable. While a second cabin was next door it was hidden by thick cedar trees. The deck was a great place to read, relax, or just enjoy the view. The décor was nice and the large ceiling beams were impressive. You had to exit the deck to get to the hot tub which was a few feet away. We did have an issue with two outside lights being burned out, one by the hot tub, but we used our flashlight to arrive safely. Another issue was the sliding back doors would not lock. Also, the light over the cook top was out and the kitchen did not have a sheet pan for cooking a pizza or biscuits. There was also no shampoo or bath soap. Upon checkout these issues were brought to the attention of HCPL and they were going to get them fixed immediately. HCPL was happy to learn of these issues since many guests never mention what issues need to be addressed. Don't let these minor issues keep you away because the cabin is very nice. We rarely stay in the same cabin twice since we like to see other places, but this one will be on our list to visit again.
Great Couples Retreat
I visited the Ruby Cabin with three girlfriends for a weekend birthday celebration. The place is absolutely adorable with stunning sunset views. However, it's really best suited for two people, not four as listed on the site. There are only two kitchen chairs and two patio chairs. There weren't enough wine glasses or mugs to go around either and four sets of towels weren't set out (although we were able to find some in one of the closets). I was hoping the property manager would have prepared accommodations for four people since I clearly indicated there would be that many guests prior to our arrival. Luckily, I packed two folding chairs just in case. We ended up using them. That said, we did enjoy our stay. We took advantage of the hot tub (bring your own beach towels) and the fireplace (unfortunately, the lighter was empty and only one fire starter was provided) each night. Overall, this is an adorable little cabin and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a semi-private couples retreat in Wimberley. With a few small changes, this would be a great place for a group of four close friends or family members.
Gorgeous, rustic hideaway! Beautiful views from every window!
Wimberley, has so much to offer! If you like to go shopping our downtown square offers shops and restaurants. The San Marcos outlet is only 15 miles away. Zipline anyone! Wimberley has it. Winery are only short distances away.
