Available May through September. This home is nestled in a beautiful, wooded area of Northern Michigan. Located at 1226 Rams Road, Indian River, it sits at the south-end of Mullett Lake in Pigeon Bay.
The house has both a furnace and gas fireplace/stove. There is a full kitchen, dining area, closed in porch (ideal for evening card-games) and large deck. You will find the house to be clean and furniture in good condition. There is one downstairs bedroom with a double bed. There are two upstairs bedrooms. One has a double bed, bunk-bed set and one twin bed. The other has a double bed and sofa-bed. The living room also contains a sofa-bed. There is also a sleep cot available.
The evening sunsets take your breath away. The lake in front of the house is sandy, shallow and ideal for children. Lake depth in front of the house for approximately 100 yards is 24-36' deep. The boat dock and lift are available for your use. (Boat lift accommodates flat bottom fishing or ski boats under 3,000 pounds. Deep draft - V bottom boats will need to use the mooring approximately 75 yards off the boat dock.)
A gas barbeque grill, picnic table, fire pit, horseshoes, volleyball/badminton, two kayaks and lawn chairs are available for your enjoyment by the lake.
Mullett Lake is a 10-mile long, spring-fed, crystal–clear lake. Pigeon bay is calm and ideal for fishing (walleye, bass, pike, trout, perch and muskie) or serious water skiing. Pontoon, water ski and fishing boat rentals are nearby.
The lake is part of the great inland waterway, by which one can boat 45 miles through a wildlife-filled, scenic chain of lakes and rivers starting in Pickerel Lake to Lake Huron through two locks, four large lakes and three beautiful rivers.
There's a local bald eagle that we see on a regular basis either soaring above the lake or catching fish.
If you enjoy river tubing, kayaking or canoeing, be sure to plan a ride down the Sturgeon River which can be arranged through Big Bear Adventures in town.
It’s only a short drive to Indian River or Cheboygan, only 40 minutes to Petoskey or Harbor Springs and 30 minutes to Mackinac. A trip to Mackinac Island is a recommended day-trip activity where travel is only allowed by foot, horse-drawn carriage or bicycle. The scenery and historic setting is wonderous.
Other area attractions include the famous 'Cross in the Woods,' the world's largest crucifix carved from a giant 55-foot California Redwood.

This home was built in the 1980's by my parents and was their retirement home. We have spent time there every summer ever since. My parents have since passed, thus our reason for renting. This is our family's favorite place in the world!
We think this is paradise.
We spend our time mostly on the water, skiing, jet-skiing, sailing, swimming. Every year we take a trip to Mackinac Island for a leisurely bike ride around the Island. We also do an annual tubing or canoe trip down the Sturgeon River. We are always sure to go to town for the best pizza/Italian dinner at Vivio's. Also, just a lot of relaxing.
We knew it had been a fantastic stay when we tried to highlight "just a few" of our memorable moments while staying at this beautiful cottage, and our list ended up taking up two pages (and even that was cut short by not wanting to waste more pages in the journal:) There were 4 adults and 4 teens, and every one of us had a blast. The kids loved sharing the big bedroom, where they each got their own bed. We adults found ourselves spending almost all of our indoor time on the sunporch, enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake. Of course, what we most enjoyed was the outdoor space. The large flat year allowed us to play many outdoor games, have campfires and just relax in the lawn chairs. The shallow sandy lake bottom lent itself well to water volleyball and the calm bay to kayaking and paddleboating. Everything was so peaceful since we were on the bay and the last house on a dead end road...very quiet and relaxing!
The cottage was well located for our needs, as we were only about 5 minutes from Indian River, 20 minutes from Mackinaw City and within a few minutes of hooking into both the Indian and Cheboygan Rivers. We cruised out to Duncan Bay one day and the cruised the other direction another day to dock and eat at The Inn Between. Our kids tubed almost every day, and spent almost all of their spending money on ice cream, eating it twice every day (a mix of Drosts, Dairy Queen, Dairy Mart, Topinabee and The Sweet Shop). Knowing the safety of Indian River, from many past vacations, we also let our kids bike around to the shops and play sand volleyball at the state park while we enjoyed some adult time. Some days we did a lot, other days we did absolutely nothing..making both the adults and kids happy with the trip:)
While selfishly I do not want to recommend this cottage to other because it might result in us not being able to "get" our week next summer, I HIGHLY suggest checking into Bev's Pigeon Bay cottage.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The cottage had absolutely everything you could want and need. We didn't need to bring anything except for our clothes, personal items, food, and drink. The two closets, full to the brim with games, books, and water toys were a hit. It felt like we were staying at Grandma's cottage, very homey and comfortable. We saw the eagle almost everyday, he caught fish in front of the cottage. The family had a great time tubing down the Sturgeon River and playing putt putt at Big Bear Adventures. The cottage is close enough, we took half day trips to Petoskey, Cheboygan, and Mackinaw City. We had a horseshoe competition and nightly campfires. We all loved the kayaks too, what a nice treat! I would highly recommend this home/cottage. It is perfect for all ages.

Wonderful property on beautiful Mullet Lake! The house is in a very quiet area of the lake. The water is very shallow pretty far into the lake, which made it fun for the kids to splash around, but it wasn't as great for swimming. During the week, with few to no boats on the lake, the water was crystal clear with a soft, sandy bottom. We rented a pontoon boat for two days, and had a great time on the lake. The house was just as described. Although it is a bit older, it was very clean and well maintained. With 6 adults and 5 children, we had plenty of room to roam around and sit/eat together. There were plenty of games in the house for both, kids and adults to enjoy. The sun room was wonderful for late night card games with a nice breeze coming from the lake. The owner was very easy to work with and answered all of my questions promptly. Overall, our experience in this rental was great. The only downfall that we found was no air condition (which was consistent with the description of the house). Although there were plenty of fans to use, 2 nights were pretty warm in the upstairs bedrooms. I would definitely consider staying in this house again in the future and would recommend it to my friends and family.
First and foremost, the view out to the lake was phenomenal! Enjoyed our time there very much. The house was very adequate and supplied plenty of towels, sheets, games, fans (weather very hot first 2 days). Also the 2 kayaks were a big hit for us as someone was going out everyday in them. We rented a pontoon boat conveniently close by and basically had Pigeon River Bay all to ourselves Monday thru Thursday. Fishing was so-so at first; after trying different spots all over southern Mullett Lake - we figured out best fishing was 100 yards right outside our cottage! Ended up catching several Northern Pike and Perch to enjoy the fishing side of this trip. Mackinac Island within 30 minutes and was another big hit as we visited up there a full day. All other supplies needed (golfing included) were also conveniently close by. Thank you for opening up your home to us - has made great memories!
An excellent place to stay, very accommodating and home-like feeling to the place. The sun room was worth it all by itself. The kids could play games in the living room while the adults played cards in the sun room with the nice breezes off the lake coming in. Could use new beds, or at least mattresses. Not really uncomfortable, but not really comfortable, just old.
The home was very clean as many other reviewers described. We had 5 Adults and 3 kids and was spacious for all. Bev was VERY accommodating with answering all my questions quickly. I feel if she could have changed the weather for us that week, she would have. Lake is beautiful. Neighbors are very nice. Great place to stay!
The house comes with two kayaks, volleyball/badminton and horseshoes.
