Custom Timberframe Home Away From Home

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom 2 Bath Home With Large Deck And Game Room.

Custom designed Timberframe home designed and built by owner. It is hidden off the beaten path on 3 acres of land, and sits among beautiful oak trees with great sunlight all day long. This Post and Beam home was built in the Shaker tradition from wood that was harvested from the land it sits on, with hand cut joinery and pegs. There is also a custom formed pine countertop that was made from a 5 foot diameter tree that blew down in Northern Maine.

This modern home has 3 bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens) with the Master Bedroom in a loft overlooking the Living Room. The Master Bath also features a two person Spa tub to relax in after those long hikes. The large deck is great for sunbathing and outdoor entertaining. Norway Drive is less than 10 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor, and less than 10 minutes to the main entrance for the Acadia National Park Loop Road.

Quiet surroundings, but close to everything, including Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Long Pond, Echo Lake Beach, Hulls Cove Beach and of course Acadia National Park. Enjoy your close proximity to Acadia National Park’s hiking trails, lakes, carriage roads, and rocky coastline. Take advantage of other activities, like whale watch trips, sea or lake kayak tours, fun shopping, great dining, biking, bird watching, swimming and more!

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

This is a very nice, clean, and open timber frame house in a great location- very close to Eagle lake and relatively central- easy to get to Bar Harbor or the quiet side. House is clean, nicely decorated, with comfortable furnishings. We did find that with 2 Adults and 2 15-yr old girls that there was not quite enough lounge seating around the tv for all of us... at least if we wanted a little room, but really we didn't watch much tv with all there was to do. Plus, the girls liked to lie on the floor in the loft and look down at us. Best of all the owner was incredible nice and could always be reached through the home away app- very responsive. Thanks for a great week!

A great week in Acadia

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and thought the house was very comfortable for our family of 4 and our black lab. The proximity to Eagle Lake, the main entrance of the park and Bar Harbor was excellent. I recommend this to small families or couples, it is bright and sunny and has a very open layout. Be prepared to wake up early the master bedroom gets bright early from the many skylights, which are great, but there are no shades. Also be prepared to bring your cooking supplies if you plan to eat in. The cooking utensils, pots/pans, etc are all fine for making breakfast and we grilled out our dinners on a functional, but old gas grill. It all worked out and we had a great week.

Owner's Response: Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Can you let me know what you were lacking for cooking supplies? We have several crying pans, a couple sauce pans, a lobster pot, PIE plates, a crock pot, cookie sheets, casserole dish, serving platters, cooking utensils, measuring cups, even odd items like a pop over pan. I'm listing all these just so other folks know what I have. I was always told I was well equiped. Sorry about not having shades on the skylights. Maybe I'll look into that. When we live there in the winter we love it as it wakes us up for work :) We are also looking into a new grill. Thanks again!

We loved it!

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home. The open beams and large windows made me feel like we were in a tree house. The location was perfect, 5 miles from town, 1 mile from eagle lake and yet feels remote with the property being surrounded by trees. Edi was very quick to reply with any questions. We would stay there again in a heart beat.
