The property is second to none. The house is beautiful and comfortable and has everything we could possibly need. The location is central to so much, Watkins Glen, wineries, breweries, and more. We loved the hot tub and hope to be back. We especially hope Katya, the owner, and her fur babies are happy and healthy!
Great fall getaway
Everything was great!
Loved this place
We really enjoyed this property. I wish we got to utilize it longer! Very unique house and large spaces. Secluded property. Great hot tub and views too.
We had great communication with owner.
This location is great for anyone looking for a quiet retreat. The property is set back far enough from the road and is very private. The house is uniquely shaped with a wrap around price and floor to ceiling windows. Highly recommended and would love to stay here in the future.
Watkins Glen Review
When we arrived at the property we were surprised by the condition of the driveway...potentially damaging cracks if not careful. Once in the house we were disappointed to find a refrigerator that was not very clean and had expired food in it. There was little room for us to put our groceries in it after we cleaned it. Thankfully we came with cleaning supplies. We also had to dispose of a bag of rice when we saw bugs crawling around in it. While looking around we also found a drawer full of cleaned eggshells....that was surprising. There was quite a bit of dust in the house especially on the fans in the bathrooms and light fixtures. We were warned of the lack of stability of the deck railing but the floor boards could be quite dangerous...there are some cracks in the wood. If you plan on enjoying the deck at night bring flashlights there is little to no light outdoors. Overall we had an enjoyable weekend because we were in good company not because of the property which is a shame. If we paid that much money for a hotel we would have checked out and asked for a refund.
I was appalled to read this review. It is utterly out of line with all my other reviews. The renters claim that my driveway is dangerous. This is a rural area and the driveway is dirt which is not as smooth as asphalt. I had other renters right before and right after this group and none of them had any issues with my dirt driveway. A dirt driveway is not dangerous. The renters claim that my deck is dangerous. The deck is made of wood. Wood is a material that has cracks. The deck is completely stable, and in no way dangerous. Most shocking of all about this review is that, although I provided these renters with my personal cell phone number and encouraged them to call or text me any time if they had problems, the renters never contacted me during their stay or after their stay. These renters infer that my beautiful home is over-priced compared to a hotel. I know the area and the hotel prices so I know that for their group of 6 adults and their dogs, they would not have found a better priced hotel. The local campground might have been cheaper for their large group of humans and canines, but not a hotel. As for the unbelievable claim that they would have checked out had my lovely home been a hotel, they never contacted me to say they would like to leave and they never asked for a refund. Of course, had they called and communicated their lack of comfort with dirt roads and natural wood decks (and, it seems, their fear of the dark nights we have in rural areas) and their wish to check out, I would certainly have agreed. I most certainly do not want to have unsatisfied renters in my home! I have an excellent relationship with local law enforcement and would have had an officer over in no time to help them move out and to safely escort them off my property. Had they called me during their stay and said they wanted to leave, I would have readily refunded any nights they did not stay in my home. Since these renters chose to stay for the full time, then chose to place this review, and did not make a simple phone call to resolve the situation, it is completely unbelievable that they wanted to check out. There is only one statement in this review that is correct. I do in fact collect eggshells! I make a powder out of them which I use as a calcium supplement for my dogs. There are labeled jars of eggshell powder in my fridge. With all the invasive digging these renters chose to do into my personal space, I would have thought they could have put two and two together when they saw the eggshells in the kitchen drawer and the eggshell powder in the fridge.
