About sherri mansell

Larry and Sherri live in south Florida with 4 children ages 12 to 25. Their parents live in NC and Georgia, and the family travels to western caroloinas as much as possible. They love the outdoor hiking, boating and many other activities.

sherri mansell purchased this cabin in 2011

Why sherri mansell chose Asheville Area

We wanted to be close to Asheville, a city with an airport, university and culture events, and also close to both parents in Geogia and NC. We love the quaint town of Black Mtn with great restaurants.

What makes this cabin unique

Biggest benefit is being only 10 minutes to town for food/gas/etc...and 20 minutes to the city of Asheville, BUT having a peaceful property with beautiful views and feeling like we are away from it all!!!

A Perfect Holiday Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

It could not have been a better Thanksgiving Holiday Getaway for our family and friends and we also celebrated our daughter's birthday which made it an extra special Holiday. The cabin and amenities exceeded our expectations and were all topped off with fresh fallen snow on Thanksgiving which was a real treat for a group of Floridian's (which we think may have been arranged by Sherri since she thought of everything else you may want or need for your stay). In addition to the beautiful cabin we also enjoyed the view of the mountains from the large porch and have fallen in love with the Town of Black Mountain (sorry Asheville we found a new love). We highly recommend this cabin to anyone and hope to return soon!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed yourselves...we do certainly appreciate all the great restaurants and quaint town of Black Mtn...we rarely find the need to drive into Asheville. Look forward to hosting you again in the future.

Just Like Home But Better!

  • 5 of 5

Staying in this cabin is truly a highlight for us year after year. Larry and Sherri have thought of everything their guests might need during their stay, and it's all right at our fingertips. I can't say enough about the well-appointed kitchen, as our group did a lot of cooking throughout the week, and made full use of the kitchen with a dumb waiter to the basement and dine-in wine cellar. Most of all we love to walk on the trails through the property to observe the pond and winding creek. It is so peaceful and enjoyable. We will be back!

Great location, great home

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to find such a wonderful home and the location for our needs was perfect. Plenty of room for the four of us. The finished lower level was just the thing for the boys to hang out in the evenings and play games. The home came with everything we needed and much more. The owner was very responsive when we had a question. Thanks for letting us stay in such a beautiful home.

Beautiful mountain home

  • 5 of 5

This home is very well-maintained with updated and high-quality furniture and appliances. The game room and "wine cellar" are nice touches. The view from the back deck is very nice, but only gives some distance glimpses of the mountains. The hot tub on the deck is a great way to relax after a busy day of touring, hiking, etc. I was impressed that clothes and dishwashing detergent as well garbage bags were plentifully provided. Getting up to the home can be a little challenging to a less experienced driver. I would recommend 4WD or AWD in any kind of inclement weather, but we did fine without it, as we had nice weather. We climbed to Chimney Rock and hiked to Hickory Nut Falls (30 min. away), shopped and dined in Black Mountain (15 min. away) and toured, shopped, dined and Biltmored in Asheville (30 min. away). I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Hightock Retreat Did Not Disappoint.

  • 5 of 5

The owners and managers at Highrock are professional, prompt, and overall wonderful people. The property is beautiful, and our cabin was precisely as advertised. Small issues were quickly fixed by awesome property manager, and owners were easy to reach and attentive. Overall, fantastic cabin rental but, more than that, great people behind it.

The people of Asheville were fantastic too. A few days bee-bopping around Asheville and surrounding area, some GREAT craft beer, and beautiful views at the Highrock Retreat is a fine way to spend a few days!
