We decided at the last minute to book a quick getaway. I contacted the owners on Thursday about renting the following day. They responded quickly and we reserved the lodge.
We arrived Friday evening after work and spent a wonderful weekend relaxing and unwinding. The weather was a bit rainy but we didn't care. We enjoyed the cabin and all it had to offer - the covered hot-tub kept the rain off of us; the fireplace kept us warm, the welcoming living areas kept us comfortable; and the views kept us entertained.
We chose this rental over several others in the area because of the welcoming feel. The owners did a wonderful job decorating. There are pictures on the walls and even a story about a family member's experience during the Civil War. We didn't want to leave but now that we've found this place, we will be back!
My family from the UK were visiting and we booked this lodge for the Labor Day weekend. Absolutely beautiful location and the lodge is so gorgeous. Do not let the one bad review discourage you from renting this beautiful lodge. The lodge was extremely clean and the owners were a pleasure to deal with. Extremely helpful aND courteous. The recliner chair is the most comfortable chair in the place....family were fighting over it! Real beautiful place and it made my families vacation so much more special. The Walmart is close by for grocery shopping along with a food lion and some other small stores. This place is a hidden gem! Can't wait to stay there again!
Good: Beautiful house in a beautiful setting.
Bad: Place was pretty dirty upon arrival. Pet hair on the sofas which ended up on our clothes. Grill had last guest's meat stuck to it. Dirty dishes in cabinets. Baking trays were not clean. Bedding was torn. Towels in bathroom smelled, we had to wash them before use. AND, despite giving us the cabin in this condition, the owner had the audacity to send my girlfriend a nasty text after we left saying we had left a mess (yeah, we hadn't). Would not stay again.
Me and a group of dear friends stayed here at the Foggy River Lodge for three nights. The cabin was beautifully situated atop a high ridge with wonderful views of the valley and mountains as a spectacular backdrop. Inside was warm and cozy with everything that you needed. The only thing that we had to bring was our personal items (that included toilet paper btw) and they supplied the rest. There was a wonderful fire ring in the back for a cool autumn night hot dog roast and an amazing shower and jetted tub on the inside for relaxing for the night. I will definitely come here again and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a mountain cabin getaway with a "forever" memory attached. Thank you Patricia.
Great place to stay as a base for exploring the area. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and finished cabin. Extremely private and quiet spot with beautiful views from the wraparound porch. The owners are super friendly and helpful, willing to answer any questions about the cabin or the area. I'd consider the value very good for the quality of the accommodation.
Although all three locations are secluded and private, they are only minutes from popular attractions, such as The Luray Caverns, New Market Battlefield, George Washington National Forest, and Shenandoah National Park. Local stores for your shopping needs are also just minutes away.
