About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

Welcome to 5th Haven! Our goal is simple, to offer you a place of tranquility, of rest and repose. Remodeled in 2013, this beautiful beach side cottage was built with serenity in mind. Walking distance to the beach, Santa Cruz harbor, restaurants, live music, surf/ paddle board/ boat rentals, beach volleyball and fire pits.

The space

Careful attention to detail was made remodeling the home to give this small slice of heaven a cozy beach feel. It will comfortably accommodate 6 with indoor & outdoor living space to relax and enjoy the Santa Cruz sun.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to all amenities in the home including kitchenware, free Wi-Fi internet, cable TV, hammock and even beach chairs!

The neighborhood

Located on a quaint one-way street, 5th Haven is far enough from the downtown Santa Cruz tourism to unwind, yet close enough to visit. The Twin Lakes area of Santa Cruz has water on 3 of its 4 corners. Santa Cruz harbor to the West, Swan Lake to the right, and Twin Lakes beach out front.

*Note the home is on the corner of Eaton street with local traffic that can be heard from outside. Home is insulated so inside is quiet.

Getting around

One of the great things about 5th Haven is its location. Once you park you never really have to drive again. The home is a short walk to the beach, Santa Cruz harbor, restaurants, live music, surf/ paddle board/ boat rentals, beach volleyball, and fire pits. Of course if you want to venture out, downtown Capitola, and downtown Santa Cruz are only a few miles away. There are two parking spots available in front of the home and public transit is available right down the street.

About Ryan

Born in So-Cal, found home in the Bay. Moved here in 2008 and fell in love with the people, places and slightly more definable seasons. I work for a surgical robotics company with technology that helps people daily, making my job an enjoyment since I started. When I’m not travelling for work I enjoy fitness activities with my beautiful other half Denise. Any weekend we get to sneak away is spent in Santa Cruz relaxing and enjoying the beach, and on the occasion we get a free week we love to expand our view of the world and explore the amazing people and cultures on different continents.

Ryan purchased this cottage in 2013

Guestbook comments from the manager

I have been using Home Away for probably about 10 years and cannot remember a place I have stayed in that was more enjoyable then yours; so much so that I think I am going to book again, for late September or early October. I think that you two thought of just about everything (and you can really feel the women's touch, which I believe is very important). I felt relaxed within five minutes of my arrival; and I do believe that is what you were going for. Not to mention, it is an ideal location.

All the Comforts of Home

Loved our stay at the cottage. Ryan was very quick to respond to any communications. Cottage is very well stocked and decorated with an eye to the beach vibe. Even more chic in person. Very close to everything and within walking distance to the beach and Crow's Nest. Thank you for sharing your home. We'll definitely have to make a trip back!!

Love this home!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at 5th Haven and we would be reserving a third stay for next month if the property wasn't already booked. The home is so comfortable with everything you need, including some spices in the kitchen. The location is great, just a 5 minute walk to the harbor and some great restaurants. The hammock out back, beach cruiser bikes, and firepit on the front patio really make this a vacation home. We will be staying here again soon.

Location Rocks

The property was charming. We all enjoyed the hammock and outdoor seating area. Being able to walk to the Crow's Nest (my favorite restaurant) and the beach made our stay special

amazing place...

booked last minute, and all went without a hitch. we arrived to a simply adorable, comfortable little house. Walking distance to harbor and beach, drivable to everything. Extremely well equipped, with outside seating area, bikes, boogie boards, ample towels, extra blankets...cant even list it all. You can tell a lot of love put into this home. Hope to be back!

What a nice surprise!

  • 5 of 5

We hadn't spent much time in Santa Cruz but had a family wedding in Ben Lomand last weekend. The house looked cute online but you never know. Opened the front door to a beautifully remodeled cottage in a great location. The owners Ryan and his wife have really done a great job with the space and the amenities. Within walking distance to the harbor and some good restaurants. Far enough from the Boardwalk but we ended up walking there too. We had a great weekend and we highly recommend 5th Haven.

Great for our family

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. House is on a cute street about two blocks from the beach. The property was in a great spot.... we walked to the beach and we also walked to the Crow's nest for dinner on the beach! We also drove to Big Basin National Forest and got to see Redwoods for the first time. It was incredibly beautiful, remember to bring Bug Spray.

The house was great for our family of four. Even though we didn't use very much of this.... It was VERY WELL stocked with towels, paper goods and linens. That is always a plus for me. House was clean and nicely furnished. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into the house! Great details! Thanks for the memories.
