Great cottage on the lake with a beautiful view
We stayed here from a week in July with our 2 little boys. We had a great time. The cottage was very clean and located in a quiet bay that was perfect for little children. The cottage provided 2 kayaks, lots of life preservers, a nice dock for fishing and a nice pebble beach. It is located very close to Southwicks Beach, Sacket's Harbor and Old Macdonalds Farm...all great family locations to visit. You do have to be careful with little children as the deck is open on the sides and in between railings. They also provided drinking water which was a nice bonus. We did run out of propane for the grill, toilet paper and paper towels which we went and purchased, but after talking with the owner I believe it was an oversight and they refunded our money for the propane tank. We would stay here again and would recommend this cottage for a peaceful stay with your family.
Perfect location, everything you need!
This home is perfectly situated to watch the sun rise over Whites Bay each morning. It is a calm area that is perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and boating. The home has everything you will need for a relaxing vacation.
Very clean cottage and everything was as advertised.
Beautiful location with amazing sunrises and plenty of things to do in the area. The bay was beautiful and the kids enjoyed kayaking and fishing. Great place to go and plenty of parks nearby as well.
A wonderful, well equipped cottage!
We had a wonderful, relaxing week at this property. It is located on the beautiful, protected White's Bay on Lake Ontario. The cottage is very comfortable with three bedrooms and two baths. It is comfortably furnished and the kitchen was super well equipped. The best part is the beautiful front porch with unobstucted views to the lake. The sun rises in front of the cottage so this is an amazing place to greet the sun with a morning cup of coffee. There were two kayaks provided and we made good use of them each day paddling on the still waters of White's Bay. I highly recommend this property and hope to return again.
Very nice retreat.
Everything was as advertised, but the best thing was how nice the owner was to work with.
The lake views from the living room, dinning room and deck are absolutely outstanding. The house was furnished very nicely. Lots of cookware and linens. We wish we could have spent more time at this house. Our security deposit was returned very promptly.
nice sunsets clean
sunsets were nice, nice location, quiet, owner had kayaks brought to us that was nice. You had to limit the use of the wash machine. .disappointed we could not bring the boat at first but when we read the property rules you had to launch and load the boat daily rules stated no overnight docking which we were relieved we did not bring the boat parking would be rough to do with a 22 ft boat and trailer also. The day before we left a water drain or something broke which completely flooded the entrance to the cabin so you had to be barefoot or get rubber boots to go to and from your vehicle there was a stream running on each side of the cabin from it. We understand stuff happens it was out of the owners control. they had brought in a machine to fix it and when we left the next day it still was not being worked on after we were told they would fix it right away. So we loaded up barefoot and rubber boots to go home. I think that you should fix the amenities washer (limited use) 32 ft. dock (no overnight docking) all in all we had a nice stay even though we got wet feet.
It has been a rough season on Lake Ontario and unfortunately much of this negative review is out of our control. The water level is at an all time high no one has been able to put their dock in the water as a result. Owners around the lake have been hit with unexpected water damage and it should be noted that a $200.00 credit was given to the renter for the inconvenience of no dock. If the dock were in the water and a boat was brought, the owner would have been notified of docking restrictions, special permission, as well as neighboring areas to park the boat and trailer.
The renter had read comments left by previous renters who had brought and used their own canoes, kayaks, jet skis and boats. They assumed the house had these to offer and in an effort to make their stay better, we had a double kayak brought to them for use during their stay. Two single kayaks have since been purchased for future renters.
The washing machine is to be used as needed. Because the cottage is on a shore well, limited use is preferred. There are not restrictions, just a simple request to use as needed.
As for the flooding due to an additional 6 inches of rain (Thursday night/Friday morning), I called and had a company come right away (Friday). They were not able to dig up the yard and find the cause until the rain had stopped. Again, sadly there is nothing more I could do to address this issue.
