My wife Birgitta and myself have enjoyed living in the Bay Area for almost 40 years. I originally moved to the Bay Area from Philadelphia as part of the Navy Dental Corp. back in the early 1970's. I was taken by it's beauty, activities and wonderful people. After the service I decided to make the Bay Area my home and opened up my dental practice in San Francisco's Union Square. Soon after that, I met my Swedish wife Birgitta a former Pan Am and later United flight attendant. After a few years in San Francisco we moved to Sausalito where our first child Melissa was born. Wanting more space then our cliffside condo could offer we found our home in San Rafael. We have spent the last 35 years making improvements to and expanding our house into a truly delightful and welcoming home to accomodate our two sons Jason and Andrew.
Now that our children have grown we are really taking the time to enjoy what the Bay Area has to offer. We have adopted a wonderful dog named Bogey and can often be found hiking the trails that surround Marin. When not walking the dog I can be found at my dental practice or at the golf course. Both Birgitta and I are avid golfers that try and hit the course at least 2-3 times per week. In addition, to our love of the outdoors we love to travel the world and have recently begun cruising to exotic ports as often as possible.

We are proud to be sharing our home with our guests. We moved to sunny San Rafael over the last 35 years and raised our children in our home. Now that they are grown and have left the 'nest.' We are proud to share our home paradise and our beloved San Francisco Bay Area and wine countries with our guests.
Our home is perfect for almost any visitor. From an executive looking for a short-term rental to call home away from home to a family or couple looking to experience all that the Bay Area has to offer; to a student who wants a nice place to lay his or head that is close to school (Dominican University is 4 minutes away). Our proximity to everything from Six Flags Theme Park to world class wine regions; to Majestic state parks such as Muir woods to the cable cars and sights of San Francisco our home offers you a trip with access to the best the bay has to offer.
Hi Ed & Birgitta-
We loved staying here! Thank you for a great vacation place to stay! We hope to see you soon!
It was great meeting you both! We will miss your place!
We stayed for 3 nights in late October. Birgitta and Ed were gracious hosts. The suite is even bigger than it looks in the photos. The bathroom is huge with a big tub for soaking and a heated floor. Location is close to downtown San Rafael, but very private. It took us about 20 minutes to drive to Sausalito for dinner. My husband and I will be staying here again.
I cannot say enough about this beautiful property. The accommodations were far beyond any expectations and the gardens are absolutely lovely. The owners are two of the most wonderful people on the face of the earth and go out of their way to make you feel special. The location is perfect, with very easy access to all the area activities. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub after a long day of cycling the many picturesque roads nearby. We will miss the stellar hosts and can't wait until we can return!
We were treated royally at this lovely, large garden suite!! Our flight being delayed we arrived late!!
Our hosts were so concerned and gracious, they are truly hospitable
people!! Great location, so quiet. Hope to visit again soon!!
First of all- the folks that own this property were just amazing and she knew how to help me blow the lady of my life's mind with the special detail to my request. Just great people and an awesome property. Slept with the door open
So peaceful quail were at our door to the private deck. While next to an amazing home- we never felt that at all. Top of the list

We loved our stay in this garden estate which is spacious, nicely appointed and has the kindest owners. It was so lovely, with such beautiful gardens, great location truly the "Best of Both Worlds". Close to San Francisco and wine tasting country. The hosts Birgetti and Ed were fabulous and very responsive to any questions!
Birgitta was a very helpful host when we arrived at her home. She explained the property and amenities. The Suite is quite a bit larger than the photos portray. The bedroom was very comfortable with high quality linens and a nice bed. It was very restful and we really appreciated the patio access, very easy to keep windows open all day and at night and enjoy the weather in San Rafael. The kitchenette worked for us and it was nice to have the gas grill on the patio. The location was close to many stores and restaurants while being in a very nice neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again!
