This cottage offers a wonderful location on the end of a dead end street. Every room has a view of Island Pond. Island Pond is a private, 49 acre, fully recreational pond in south Plymouth. Bedroom 1 is an oversized room with a queen bed and a pull out couch. Bedroom 2 has two twin beds that can be joined into a king size bed.

Ideal location for relaxation or as a home base for day trips

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was the perfect getaway for my family of five. It was immaculate and had everything you needed for a week away. The setting is very private and quiet. It is a little busier on the weekend, but it felt like we had the pond to ourselves during the week. Even though there were beds to sleep in, my two sons chose to sleep elsewhere. One slept on the porch on an inflatable mattress and the other wanted to sleep outside in his tent. My daughter had a room to herself. The window seat and hammock were favorite spots to read or relax. There were several places to sit outside whether we enjoyed the sun or preferred to sit in the shade.

Since we live only 45 minutes away we didn't need to sightsee. Although it is in a perfect location to go on day trips to Plymouth, Boston and/or Cape Cod. We brought our own kayaks and paddleboards, which we used from dawn to dusk every day. My children had friends visit for a day and they too were impressed with this ideal location. They spent the entire day on the pond...except to come in to eat. Another day we had older family come to sit by the pond. They loved the beautiful scenery and solitude. It was the perfect spot for young and old.(From 15 years to 80 years).

Three days into our stay I checked to see if the cottage was available the following week, unfortunately it wasn't. My three teenagers can't wait to return next year. (Hard to believe they were all happy and having fun with each other. They even gave me credit for finding this place!)

My only regret is that I didn't find the cottage years ago.

A lovely hideaway with water frontage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this house during one of the hottest periods of the year, unusual even for the time of year. We really appreciated the few yards across the lawn to the water accessed by a private jetty. We found there was always a shady spot in the garden to be had and despite no air con we actually slept really well! The fans and through drafts in the house kept us cool at night without any problems. We cooked some meals and the kitchen was well equipped for that and grill great. As an avid bedtime reader I did find the lack of a bedside lamp a little tricky but this is the only thing I could say could be improved otherwise the house was perfect for us. Eileen was a perfect host even helping us out to dispose of a suitcase damaged by our airline. We visited the cape a couple of times - drove down to P town, ate oysters in Wellfleet, had ice creams in Sandwich and visited the Kennedy Memorial in Hyannis. We also foolishly went to the Plimouth plantation and Mayflower ship on the hottest day. There were a range of shops within a few minutes drive including a good supermarket, wine shop and petrol station, and a more upmarket supermarket over the bridge - (think Waitrose!) All in all we had a relaxing week on our tour of NY state and New England. Thank you Eileen for a great stay

Owner's Response: So glad you had an enjoyable vacation. Thank you for the input about a reading lamp. I read from a tablet so didn't even think of a bedside lamp! I'll make sure to add one to the cottage. Also, thank you for expanding my vocabulary. I didn't know that a jetty was another word for a dock.

Perfect lake house with brilliant location!

  • 5 of 5

Super charming, clean and comfortable holiday house by a lake with crystal clear and warm water - perfect for bathing! Outdoor patio with a grill, outdoor sun loungers and a hammock invites to outdoor living. The cottage has one very large bedroom with a double bed and a pull out sofa (for two) in addition to a another double bedroom with twin beds. The kitchen has everything you need to cook home made and healthy meals. The living rom has two sofas and a lounge chair. But my favourite was probably the bay window spot with cushion and a lake view. We went to Marthas Vineyard and Boston as well as Cape Cod for day trips. All is within one hour drive from the house. Eileen is the perfect host, from excellent communication to being really considerate. We needed towels, which she provided. But she then thought we'd need larger beach towels too - and went out on the first day and bought some really good quality ones for all of us. Very kind indeed.

This is the sort of lake house you wish you could stay at for the entire summer. I'm sure Autumn is pretty there too. We hope to revisit sometime in near future!

Owner's Response: I'm thrilled to have travelers enjoy the cottage as much as I do. I do my best to provide what international guests are unable to bring for themselves. I think we have a terminology difference. To clarify, the master bedroom has a queen size bed (not a double size) and a full size pull out couch.
