Bad Apartment, Good Neighborhood

  • 1 of 5

Renters Beware! This apartment is small and dark. It is half underground. The windows look out onto a brick wall. The worst part is that to get to the apartment from the street you enter through a narrow, poorly lit alley between two building. The area outside the apartment was littered with trash and cardboard boxes. The sidewalk is broken up and there were many tripping hazards, especially dangerous because the area is so dark. After one night we wanted out. We contacted the owners and were promised that they would refund two of the three remaining nights. That was the last we heard from them. No refund, no explanation. I have waited two months to see if they might still send a refund, but no. Booking this apartment turned out to be an expensive mistake. If there was an option for zero stars on the rating, that is what I would give this place. These people are not honest!

Comfortable, clean, well supplied, easy walk to everything, neighbors dirty.

  • 3 of 5

I hate to give 3 stars because most of what’s wrong is not the owner’s fault. But here goes. Pros:The home itself is excellent, clean, comfortable, well stocked kitchen, bath and linens, washer/dryer, dishwasher, good internet and close enough to walk to everything downtown. Pretty much anything you need. Neighborhood is safe and quaint. Sandra was quick to respond to all questions. Cons: The tiny courtyard (which looks a bit scary but is locked and secure) that you need to enter first was full of neighbors’ trash. I think they are remodeling and just left boxes and junk lying in piles. Owner is trying to resolve this. The apartment is half underground so gets very little sunlight. The bedroom is next to the “boiler room” for the whole building, so sounds like someone is vacuuming on and off through the night. An ambience noise app is helpful. There is no street parking, so you need to park several blocks away if you have a car. Better to use the train or walk.

Because of the noise and trash I give the 3 star. Otherwise would give 4+

Right in the heart of everything!

  • 4 of 5

What a charming, little place! We were very comfortable in a scenic location near everything we wanted to see while in Boston. One small area for improvement...there was a lot of trash in the tiny private alley leading to the condo. This only slightly marred a very charming place to stay.

Fantastic location, beautiful and cozy apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is super comfortable. Fantastic location walking distance to Boston Common, to Quincy Market, to the T-station. Located in a beautiful and very quiet neighborhood. The bed is very comfortable.

The apartment has a washer and dryer, which is very convenient.

Really enjoyed our stay and will certainly try to book it again for another visit to Boston.
