A true labor of love, 18 years, and lots of $$ they transformed and brought back to life the historic townsite including the farm house, tin building and many surrounding out buildings with charming touches and inspiring detail for design.
Pattea adores people making this chapter in her life very rewarding!
Pattea has been featured in two hard cover books as well as countless articles showing her body of interior and exterior design work.
Pattea Torrence purchased this farmhouse in 2000
'My family has been visiting this town site since 1970's and I fell madly in love with it.'
I could not get EDNA off my mind, I just knew I was destined to live out many years here on site. My goal was to raise our son in the Country, while I worked away at the restoration of each and every building introducing him to farm-life, offering lots of animals to love. he was nearly born here on site and is now 18 years old.
He is a Hay farmer He continues to makes his momma so proud!
'My family & I hope you enjoy its beauty & charm as much as we do.'
this property is an Historic Landmark an EDNA VALLEY Icon.
The views are exceptional out of almost every widow. From vineyard views to Happy Hay planting fields, everywhere you turn you will see beautiful, picture perfect vignettes, you will also find remnants of the former Old Edna Townsite.
New to our property is a former root cellar turned wine cellar where one can share stories about their time spent in San Luis Obispo County, the Edna Valley and so on.
We spent four nights across Christmas at this wonderfully comfortable and charming farmhouse, and although it was too cold to enjoy the porches, the indoor space was perfectly cozy whether at the kitchen table or in the living room. There is a rooster on the property and he fulfills the pre-dawn duties with diligence. It was not a problem for us but a light sleeper might find it annoying. Cooking in the farmhouse kitchen was no problem, as it was amply stocked with dishes and cookware, and the gas stove was easy to use. The home is beautifully decorated, with little surprises on every shelf. Beds are super-comfortable, with luxury linens, plenty of blankets, and more pillows than you could use. Pattea added some Christmas decor to give the house holiday spirit, which was perfectly suited to the rest of the home. Probably the most delightful vacation rental home we've ever had. Thank you to Pattea for making our stay perfect. We can't wait to come back!
We spent 4 nights at Old Edna and had the entire farmhouse all to ourselves! What beauty surrounds this beautiful old house! The grounds are well cared for, and designed for comfort and relaxation. I loved having 3 porches to enjoy while drinking our coffee, eating our dinner, and relaxing with our wine in the evenings. The inside was also just a place of rest and beauty!! Gorgeous furniture and old world charm set this place apart! I loved every aspect of Old Edna! The animals made it feel like home, the antique buildings made us wonder about the activities and people that have enjoyed this place for many many years!! What a fun history lesson we got from the owner and a new friend, Pattea. We took trips to downtown SLO and enjoyed the shops and restaurants, went whale watching in Morro Bay, and spent time in Avila Beach eating dinner while watching a beautiful sunset over the harbor. So much is so close and so easy to access. We even stopped at Hearst Castle on our way to Old Edna. I loved that this beautiful home away from home is off the beaten path and yet so centrally located to visit many fun sights easily. If you love wine, the tasting rooms are everywhere!! There is even one on site and a cute deli in one of the out buildings. Loved this place and can't wait to share it with friends and family! Thank you Pattea!! You are a special lady!
We loved our time at Old Edna. Pattea has created a charming and magical farmhouse experience. The beds are so comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked with all kinds of tools for making homemade meals. The entire home is well decorated and very clean. Our kids, ages 6 and 9, loved roaming around the property. There were chickens and goats to feed, as well as a very friendly turkey named, Leonard. If you haven't tried Sextant wines, don't miss your chance to pop into their tasting room... just steps from the front door of this house. I almost am afraid to say anything else because we don't want to compete for a reservation with anyone. We HIGHLY recommend this wonderful home!!!
We spent three weeks at Old Edna this summer and LOVED every minute of it. My children (aged 12,10,6) fed the goats every morning and evening and chased the chickens all around the yard. The house is full of little nooks where you can disappear by yourself without leaving the property. The outside reading cottage is a great place to relax with a book and a glass of wine. Pattea was an amazing host - she was always around when we needed something, but never in the way. Some days I felt like a house guest and not a paying customer! Another bathroom in the main house would be helpful, but in light of all the wonderful reasons to stay at Old Edna, this certainly isn't a justifiable reason to stay away!!!
We needed a memorable place to stay for 4 people to enjoy during the event's of our son's wedding. It was so much fun, filled with charm and old fashioned hopitality! The owner is fantastic in every way. We loved our time spent here and highly recommend it to anyone! I can't say enough positive things. This is run the same way I would run a vacation rental, as a particular person, that is saying a lot! Great place to enjoy special events with friends or family!
This farmhouse cottage was so comfy and meticulously decorated. Mom, dad and our two teen daughters had plenty of space to relax between tours of Cal Poly and hikes in the hills. Pattea, the creator of this homey cottage, was the highlight of our visit. She's super friendly and is a talented artist as she conceives, decorates and maintains this lovely spot on the planet. Imagine looking out over a white picket fence, smelling flowers blooming, seeing the misty hills and watching the grapevines send out their first leaves of the season. Truly paradise.
The kitchen was an awesome sunny gathering spot, fully equipped with appliances, utensils and dinnerware. The beds were comfy as was the living room couch.
Aside from being convenient to Cal Poly, the cottage is near to the beaches with Pismo being the closest. I think it was a great value and a super worthwhile respite destination for our family's spring break. Stay at Suite Old Edna. You'll love it.
