About Jeremy Ray

I am currently the Superintendent of School in Bidderford, ME. The property was owned by my grandfather who once operated a sardine factory in the town of Milbridge. My wife and I are renting for the first time as we are unable to come up every week. My family and friends still live about a 1/2 mile from this location.

Jeremy Ray purchased this house in 2013

What makes this house unique

The house offers a private setting on a working waterfront. I don't believe you will find a setting like this anywhere else. It is unbelievably close to the ocean and lobster boats.

Something for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful oceanfront rental...the constant activity on the working harbor gave my Dad plenty to watch! He loved it! The cottage is so incredibly charming and comfortable, all you need is clothes and food. The kitchen was well stocked with all the staples. If you have children they will never get board. Lots of toys and games for inside and out. If you have teens..they are covered as well, Wi-Fi, video game systems, Hulu, Netflix. Great place down the shore path to launch kayaks! Something for everyone! In the evening sit around the fire pit and listen to the sounds of the ocean! Views from the master bedroom were awesome!

Outstanding relaxing views - just what the Dr. ordered!

My family and I the pleasure of staying in Jeremy's family home the last few days of July into the first week in August, and were delighted by the experience. The home is very comfortable and very well equipped with wireless internet, 3 Netflix equipped flat screen TV's and an endless supply of music from 'Alexa'. These items pleased the kids but my favorite things involved the restive warmth of the tongue and groove woodwork, the amazing surrounding scenery and the astounding amount of daylight that comes with an oceanfront sunrise. We watched the sky turn pink before 4AM on multiple mornings as the lobsterman out front began their daily trips out to sea, and then shortly thereafter enjoyed the actual sunrise and a hot coffee and breakfast on the deck. I also enjoyed the sitting on the same deck and watching intense and chilly fog banks come in on several early evenings, which gave us an opportunity to try out the newly installed lawn front fire pit. We also cooked lobsters with the provided outdoor propane boiling pot. The home is a 50 minute drive to Campobello Island in Canada to the north and the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse which is the easternmost point in the US. The home is also only 30-45 minutes to Schoodic Point, Acadia and Bar Harbor to the south. We made day trips to all of these.

Finally, the home is very comfortable and in great condition, and evidence of extensive care is evident throughout the property (doors, windows, deck, siding, roof, floors, bath, etc. are all new). My only suggestions would be to add more in the way of reading lamps in the living rooms, and investigate what seemed to be low water pressure in the shower. My wife and I along with our children celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary here, and we hope to come back to do so again. Thank you for a memorable experience!

this property is amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This property on the coast in quaint Milbridge is remarkable and offers a peaceful, quiet and private getaway. This was the first time I had ever been to Maine, and after this trip I am about ready to book again for next summer. You are an hour drive to Acadia, where we went 4 of the days we were here to explore Mount Desert Island and Schoodic Point. If you like hiking, I highly recommend Acadia, and be sure to stop in Bar Harbor. The owner and his family are very responsive and accommodating, and are extremely nice people. The house was clean, and the property was perfect for us and our dogs. Be sure to pick up fresh lobster at the wharf down the road!

This place is remarkable!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week from 5/31-6/7/17. We have rented homes in many places all over the world but I knew we had arrived somewhere very special when we took the left hand turn into the driveway. I can't begin to describe the property and the view that we looked at everyday. This home is located in a very quiet fishing village away from the hustle and bustle and yet 30 minutes from everywhere. The house is older but the feel and history of the home is breathtaking. You are surrounded by life in Maine and humbled by the magnificance of the area. We will return to this place. I thank Jeremy for allowing us to be a part of his family home and experience the "way life should be".

Amazingly beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

My cousin and I spent 5 nights at the house and absolutely loved it! The house was clean, decorated perfectly for a seaside home, and quite spacious for just the two of us. The town of Milbridge is only a few miles down the road and has a grocery and several restaurants (which we did not get a chance to try, as we took picnic lunches and then had dinner at the house), so you will want for nothing. The house's location directly on the rocky coastline with the fishing pier off to one side - but not too close - and boats moored just beyond the shore is gorgeous. Watching the boatmen load lobster traps and head out for the day made for some fun entertainment on several mornings. We traveled as far south as Acadia National Park and as far north as Campobello and highly recommend both. The East Quoddy Lighthouse (the easternmost point in the United States) is also a must see! Since we left hoping to return again, I can honestly say that, if you want to see Downeast Maine, you should stay here!
