Ragged Edge is owned by the Roberts family. Chad is a Bahamian born and bred native. He met his wife, Candice, when they were in their teens during a family cruise. The two were married in 1999 and blessed with a beautiful daughter in 2004. The family currently resides in New Kent, VA.
Chad and Candice Roberts purchased this house in 2008
After our daughter was born we decided it was time to upgrade so we spent the next few years designing our dream home. Just as the plans were being sent out for bid, some friends of ours told us that we should go and take a look at this oceanfront home that has just dropped its asking price. Candice saw it once and it was our dream home already completed and on the water. We closed on it a few months later and have enjoyed every minute of it since.
From almost every room in Ragged Edge you can see the ocean.
In my 74 years, I've never actually lived (or visited) anywhere so lovely - not for a day - let alone a week. No regrets.
This house was better than we expected. We had a great time snorkeling off the back of the house. There was a lot of room so in the evening everyone has their own space. House is well equipped for cooking. Remember to get lots of water when you are at the grocery store:). We packet a fishing pole with artificial bate and caught some fish off the back of the house. Which was a lot of fun. We used Joe to travel into town he was great I would highly recommend him. Side note if you want to go to Atlantis for the water park book a room at the comfort in paradise island they will give you a two day pass to the park.
This house was Amazing! Loved it! So clean and comfortable. Waking up to a stunning view every morning is something I could get used to. I almost don't even want to share this to the world because I want it to be available, for me, anytime I want to go! Haha! Will be coming back for sure!! Won't regret getting this house! It's a must if you're in Nassau!
We had an amazing stay at Ragged Edge for 6 nights in May 2016. The house is simply stunning - even better than the photos suggest - and very spacious.
Our daytime was spent swimming at the back of the house where a small number of steps lead down to the reef and ocean; creating a fairly calm pool of water that is perfect for swimming or floating. Spare reef shoes are kindly provided for adults and kids (although I recommend bringing your own for the best fit) so you don't hurt your feet. I expect older children would be able to stand on the reef at certain times of day. Plenty of beach towels are provided, and all the amenities you would need in the kitchen, including a margarita-maker. Most nights were spent grilling dinner in the outdoor kitchen and then eating on the deck with 180' view of the ocean and numerous stars above.
This was the perfect get-away for us. (We were a group of 5 friends in our 30s flying into the Bahamas from the UK, USA, South Africa, and Trinidad for a reunion). We are really glad we choose Ragged Edge and not a place in downtown Nassau or one of those newly constructed homes with no character. Ragged Edge is a beautiful home with lots of charm. It was enjoyable during sunny days and the occasional thunderstorm for plenty of rest and relaxation. The AC worked great, plenty of hot water for showering, and any mosquitoes/insects were effectively kept outside. An added convenience was that it was only a 20min drive from downtown Nassau and Atlantis for restaurants and bars. Communication with Chad and Candice Roberts before the trip was excellent and prompt, and we had no issues during our stay. (We choose to rent a car for our stay, as we felt Joe seemed a little pricey, although highly recommended by other reviewers). There were no downsides to this rental: just remember to buy essentials such as oil, salt/pepper, aluminum, dish-washing liquids, etc, and expect all grocery shopping to expensive as you are on an import-heavy island. Then enjoy the rest of your trip!
My family and I stayed at Ragged Edge from June 11-18, 2016 when we arrived the home looked exactly like the pictures advertised on the website. The property sits right on the water.
I can say we felt right at home when we got there, we were met by the house manager Jonquil she was very nice and polite, she was took us for a tour of the home and everything was beautiful. All the rooms in the house was very spacious there were a lot of games, toys, and books! enough to keep everyone entertained. I can say the property was well maintain the kitchen (I loved loved the kitchen), bedrooms, and bathrooms were very clean.
While we were there we took a tour of the island and saw several island land marks and found there was one right across the street from the house ( Anna Nicole Smith home) that by it self was well worth the tour.
We had fun on one of the island tours called the Booze Cruise it was fun fun fun.
The only down side me and my family felt the home was to far from a store, that if you needed something late at night and you didn't a access to a car it was to impossible to get to until the next day. But overall this was a wonderful experience we met some wonderful people on the island ( Mr. Joe and Mrs. Cheryl the taxi drivers, Mr Freddie) of the island tours junket. With Mr.s Freddie we had the chance to tour the Queens Staircase that was steeped in the island history. If you every get a chance to eat at the Fish Fry try Twin Brothers the food was awesome.
I will certainly recommend this home to all my friends and colleagues. I will definitely rent this home again.

Wonderful accommodations. The house had everything we needed and more. It was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The house manager and owners were friendly, informative and responded quickly to any inquiries. We would recommend Ragged Edge to others and we would return ourselves. Thank you for sharing your lovely property.
This home is perfect for anyone wanting to simply unplug while being surrounded by the tropical beauty of the Bahamas. Located a few miles east of downtown, you will find serenity in this part of the island. We enjoyed sunrises over the Atlantic with the sound of the waves caressing the rocks just below the spacious patio outside the master bedroom. The house is comfortable with the modern conveniences of phone, Internet, cable and lots of movies.
A nearby grocery store served us well, but be aware that they close at 7:00pm, so finding supplies when you arrive late in the evening can be difficult.
By all means, please use the services of Joe for transport to and from the airport and car rental. He was superbly accommodating and provided a significant discount compared to car rental firms at the airport. As an added plus, he kicked in the across-the-island transport to the house at no extra charge.
We only had a minor problem with the dishwasher malfunctioning which could not be fixed during our stay due to a need to order a part, but that could happen anywhere. The house manager was readily available for any concern or question we had. If you are seeking peace and quiet in paradise, this is certainly a place to seriously consider,
Ragged Edge is located on the Eastern end of New Providence in a very quiet and scenic residential area surrounded by other luxurious homes. The ocean is right in your backyard where you will find many reefs for snorkeling. There are also a few beautiful beaches within swimming and walking distance from the house. There is also a local grocery store, liquor store and pharmacy within 1 to 2 miles.
It is a short ten minute drive to historic downtown Nassau for all your duty-free shopping needs, Paradise Island and the world famous Atlantis. However, if a dolphin adventure is your 'thing' make sure and check out Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon Island - you can also make it a day trip with a beach day add-on.
A comprehensive activity and guidebook is provided in the house as well as maps of the local area.
