Off season months : Off season months in Chatham are lovely too. Wonderful walking and biking. Many days are brilliant sun and others are rain. . Whatever the weather, the house is warm and snug and nothing nicer that to read or watch movies or TV in the evenings by the Vermont Castings gas stove. The sunroom is a lovely place to relax, so sunny and warm even on a windy chilly day.
We live in New London NH in the summer and in the Chatham house during the winter. making it available for rental in the summer.
Carolyn Johnstone - owner purchased this house in 2010
The location is quiet and private. It is on a circle so only local traffic
the yard is fenced on three sides making the yard and deck very private. We are in West Chatham a mile from Hardings Beach so price is more affordable than beach houses. We are also very near the bike trail.
The home is lovely, we particularly loved the sunroom, warm and cozy, so close to the outdoors. Our grandson found birds and squirrels very entertaining. (excerpts from our guest book)
We enjoyed our 3 nights in this comfortable house. It is situated on a quiet road just a short distance from Chatham and a good supermarket. The sunroom was gorgeous with lots of windows letting in light and sun. We used this room a lot as the lounge room was a bit on the dark side. The outside shower was great after a dip in the sea.
However, we weren't impressed to find a half eaten lolly/sweet on one of the bedside tables. Considering we paid $150 for cleaning (does it really cost that much for cleaning after only 3 nights use?!) we expected it to be spotless but the cleaner obviously overlooked those.
This home had exactly what we were looking for, New England charm! There is plenty of room and the master bedroom is quite large. Although we were only here for 4 days, we drove to Ptown and spent the day, toured through the quaint town of Chatham, and took several walks along the beach to see a perfect sunset. We watched the fishing boats come in and unload their days catch down at the fishing pier too, that sure made the seals day! There are plenty of places to eat and it's very quiet this time of year. I would highly recommend this place.
The house is situated on a quiet street not far from Chatham and supermarkets. We didn't use the lounge room as it was quite dark but the sunroom was great - light and sunny. It was too hot to sit out on the deck but we used the outside shower after a dip in the sea.
Considering the high cost of cleaning - does it really cost $150 to clean a house after only 3 nights of use? - we weren't very impressed to find a half sucked lolly/sweet on one of the bedside tables. Obviously the cleaner hadn't touched those when she/he did their cleaning.
Four sisters from all over the US gathered in Chatham for a week of vacation. The cottage was clean and comfortable and just the right size for us. We spent most of our time in the delightful sunroom or the back patio. The location was great, as well - close enough to town, but on a quiet side street. The cottage and amenities were just as advertised and we would all highly recommend this VRBO.
A want to thank Carolyn for the use of her home for our 2 week stay in Chatham this year. Over the many years and in the many places we've stayed in Chatham, this home on a very quiet cul-de-sac in West Chatham was clearly the best overall in accommodations, amenities, but also in value versus its location, just off of Main Street between Chatham to the east and Harwichport to the west. It was the perfect place for quiet all day and night long, but also to entertain our family and friends who visited over the time we were there. The convenience of the porch/sunroom, to the deck, to the yard was great for all of us, especially our little dog, Dottie, who was taken daily by all the activity at the bird feeders. Everything listed by Carolyn is right on for what the house offers. So, again, a very satisfying and worthwhile experience with this rental ...... thank you Carolyn ...... and thank you HomeAway........... Sincerely John D.
We had a fntastic stay in Carolyn's beautiful Chatham home. Loved the Cape. The house was spacious, clean and charming.
Enjoyed coffee in the sunroom before heading out for glorious days at the nearby beaches. Highly recommend!! Will definitely return.
