Cozy Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in this cottage two years in a row both times in the Fall. Last year, with just my husband and me and this year with my sister and brother-n-law. The cottage is cozy and clean and just perfect for a weekend stay! We love the gas fireplace in the living room which makes things nice and toasty during the Fall crisp days. It is right on the lake and the views from the house are so pretty! We took a long walk in the beautiful wooded area around the cottage, then drove around the entire lake to see all of the beautiful foliage. Along the drive, we stopped at a flea market along the side of the road and a thrift shop filled with wonderful treasures! We had dinner at The Boathouse which was a short drive to the cottage and served great food and drinks. We ended our night by sitting around the fire pit listening to music and enjoying warm, spiced wine. We would love to stay at this cottage again maybe in the winter this time.

Erik, the owner, is very prompt and helpful in answering all of your questions.

Picture perfect lakefront

  • 5 of 5

Clean and nicely furnished but the best part were the lovely sunsets and fishing right off the dock (Southside and minnows will get you bass and northerns). We can't wait to rent this house again in the spring and the fall. Erik is a gracious host but gives you your privacy.

"Nice but Disappointed"

  • 3 of 5

The house is very nice, clean and looks exactly as the pictures on the rental. Also, Erik is very nice and seemed to be very helpful upon our arrival. I have one major complaint, the house is advertised as having a gas fire place. It did not work, apparently it was out of Erik's control and the gas company was unable to schedule the gas repair however, we were not made aware of this until we arrived, and he had my e-mail address and cell number, and I even called him when we were an hour away. I was very very disappointed because it was our anniversary and there were two deal breakers-being right on the lake and a fireplace gas or wood. If I was made aware prior to arrival I would have asked to reschedule for when the fireplace was operable.

Also, we were verbally told that we could spent the afternoon on Sunday (day we were suppose to check out) till late afternoon, but again, upon arrival we were told we have to leave by 10:30 am because there were other renters and it had to be cleaned. I was disappointed again because if we were made aware of this prior to our arrival we would have checked in sooner(we didn't get there till 7:00pm Friday night) because we were told we could spend the day Sunday till late afternoon, if not we would have left work and got there earlier to have more time for our weekend. So I feel there was total misrepresentation. He did allow us to check out at noon, but when I asked him upon arrival he said "no" but after he left I did text him and he agreed to a Noon check out. Also, the unit is on the bottom floor which is stated in the listing, but there is a caretaker and girlfriend who stay upstairs so you can hear movement upstairs, not noisy or abrupt but you definitely know you are not the only people in the house. Also when you walk out on the deck there is no privacy because the above floor has no window coverings so caretakers view is right out the window down at the deck. We were told about this upon arrival, but again it is something that he said he will update on his listing for future renters. That was not a deal breaker, it was a bit uncomfortable but acceptable even though we were not made aware of this prior to arrival. Erik did not charge me for the internet he said he would throw that in but it did not compensate for my disappointment. He did recommend a few places to eat, the Boathouse which was amazing. I understand things happen but you should be made aware prior to arrival!

nice place

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is just like the pictures. Very close to the water. It could use some more silverware, dishes, and a blind in the living room. We would stay there again.
