Build brand new in 2010 this 1 bedroom apartment (800 sq ft) is above a retail space (which used to be our ice cream/sandwich/gift shop). It has a very large deck (~ 1000 sq ft) that looks out over the Pepin marina and Lake Pepin. We have been greening up the deck again this year with new plantings. The apartment is completely furnished and has a comfortable decor. It's simple style will appeal to those wanting a reasonably priced escape with ample space for a comfortable extended stay. A great place for couples or families.
Come to the Pepin area to slow down, relax, and enjoy the wonderful views of the Mississippi River bluffs and Lake Pepin. Explore the many small towns, shops, art galleries, wineries and eateries the area has to offer.
Please know that Pepin has trains that run along the waterfront. Trains run VERY regularly! Some folks don't like the noise. If you are a light sleeper this may bother you. Also know that Pepin is working with the railroad to institute a "quiet zone" so the trains will no longer need to blow their horns in the village (unless emergency). Hopefully this will happen in the Fall of 2015 !

John and Deirdre Worrell had a dream to run their own businesses so we purchased a small commercial building on the waterfront in Pepin, WI in 2007. Since then the building has been demolsihed and rebuilt to have a retail space, office space, and apartment space. We used to run Hear it Melt - an ice cream/sandwich shop in the retail space. Deirdre's Audiology business North Ridge Hearing Company is in the office space. The residential space above the commercial space is our apartment get-away. We love the beauty, pace, and people of the Pepin area for recreating.
John Worrell purchased this apartment in 2007
We chose Pepin for our location because:
- The area is beautiful
- Lake Pepin offers 17,000 acres of water
- The Tiffany Wildlife area offers 14,000 acres of wildlife area
- It's close to our home (1 hr) and offers a wide variety of activities.
Pepin is a village of ~1000 people. We love the small town feel. There are also several small towns in the area that also offer a variety of little shops and activities.
My wife and I took a weekend here and thoroughly enjoyed our time - both around the area and at the apartment. The apartment was perfect for lounging around on the patio, overlooking the marina and lake / river, and the trains running nearby (quite literally - about 30 ft. away) did not bother us in the least bit. A few doors down was the Harbor View Cafe, with an excellent, ever-changing chalkboard menu. It was just the two of us, but there would have been plenty of room for up to 6 people. The owner was responsive with the few questions I ended up having, and the place was clean and tidy when we arrived.
Chalk up another awesome women's weekend to this tidy, smartly-decorated abode that is posed to provide views of Lake Pepin in a lovely locale. John was prompt in providing information on the place and area so that we could find a spot to grab a meal and stay up-to-date on March Madness!
You arrive to find a nautically themed, immaculately prepared apartment with all the amenities of home. If it weren't for the options of activities to partake in the area it'd be quite easy to pour a cup of coffee or glass of wine and take in the peace and beauty of the river town from the relaxing kitchen, living area, or extended porch area.
Several options for activity (even during the winter/spring transition weather): area town walking and shopping, wineries, proximity to other lake towns.
You'll run out of time before options.
Closing out our stay we talked more about our return trip than anything else...you'll do the same!
What a lovely setting and comfortable, clean place. Loved the cotton quilts. We wished we had stayed two nights. Yes, the trains rumble by loudly, but we didn't really mind.
We had such a lovely weekend at your Pepin property. Loved the outdoor deck especially. It was as described and inviting....would love to revisit sometime!
First thought as we walked in the door was... BEAUTIFUL!!! Very clean, nice shiney wood floors, great kitchen, and fantastic deck. Dining, gift shops and proximity to the water were all within walking distance. During our 2 night stay, we saw stunning sunsets both nights. The only negative would be the train horns...light sleepers may not appreciate them.

I rented this for a Girl's Weekend trip with 3 of my girlfriends and we couldn't have been more pleased! The cottage is beautiful and the deck over looking the lake was wonderful. Also very pleased with all the attention to detail-down to the coffee in the cupboard, extra blankets, etc. The area is also fabulous. We WILL be back! Thanks!
There are several local festivals in the area each year. There is a significant art community in the area. Laura Ingles Wilder days in Sept., Spring and Fall Art Tours. Fly Away Film Festival to name a few.
