Enjoy a private relaxing retreat at our South Seas Beach Home tucked into a hidden corner of East Sandy Bay on Roatan that can be rented as a 2 bedroom suite for smaller parties up to 4, or rent the whole house (4 bedrooms) for larger parties up to 12. Conveniently located only about two miles from Coxen Hole and four and a half miles from West End. Come anytime year round - It's always paradise in the Caribbean! And it's always 'Sunday' on the island! Roatan is a fantastic island secluded between Belize and Honduras. Just about 200 miles south of Cancun, Mexico - this water is crystal clear and way more affordable for basic needs than almost anywhere else you might travel. Just walk out your door and into the ocean to enjoy world class snorkeling, scuba-diving or fishing.
Our Home was built in the late 90's and has been completely renovated recently . It's rustic charm appeals to those who like to adventure off the beaten path and enjoy the quaint traditions of 'Island Style' living the way Mark Twain & Robert Louis Stevenson and others did back in the day... We offer laidback comfortable quality for your ultimate 'Casual Holiday' and beachfront vacation. Take a look at our link to Google Earth Maps and see our 350 ft shared community dock that will have you at the world's most wonder-full reef in just a short 6 minute swim. We also have a couple of sea kayaks and some extra basic snorkeling gear stored in the bodega for you to use and enjoy.
We have a fun network of several homes right on our BEACHFRONT - all with ocean views. So if you want to have a larger group for Weddings, Family Reunions or whatever - just give us a call and we can work out something special for your group. South Seas Island Escape or Parrot's Nest are just two of the wonderful escapes waiting to hold your interest and your tired body in a nice soft hammock gently swaying in the warm breeze...
South Seas is primarily available as a full home rental for families and up to four couples. Each unit has a double bed, full bathroom, fans, table, chairs, etc. Our first priority is to rent the entire house to one group exclusively. However, because each bedroom has it’s own private entrance, if the house is still available as we get very close to the dates of arrival, we are occasionally able to offer individual bedrooms to be rented separately. In that instance, the online calendar may appear as if the house is booked, but it may only be one or more bedrooms rented thus far, so you are invited to inquire anyway, as almost always we can help you with a nearby home as well. In those rare cases where two small groups or couples might share the home, all guests will have the added advantage over a standard beachfront cabana room elsewhere, in that they will have full access to common use of the kitchen, library, lounge & deck areas.
Each of the 4 bedroom units has nice 'firefly' lights for romantic ambiance. The deck also has soft rope lighting for ease on eyes and great for easy stargazing as well. All units form an 'L' shape around the open deck which has a Gazebo for shade and hammocks and across the deck is the freestanding octagonal shaped kitchen building with it’s own bathroom.
Each unit has views and ventilation from three sides. Constant tropical trade wind breezes create soothing and effective natural ventilation. Swim right offshore from our safe sandy beach. Our Wonderful Reef is but a short swim away. We even have a map with 'snorkeling trails' marked. Sun bathe or relax in a hammock in the shade.
You are certain to enjoy the neighborhood's 350 foot dock, which puts you even closer for an even easier swim over the shallow sandy bottom to wonderful reef treasures right in front of our relaxing home. Rental also includes use of 2 SEA KAYAKS and Snorkel Gear.

I'm a world adventurer and beach lover from way back. My father was a Career Naval Officer so we moved frequently and lived in many beautiful places all around the world. I have a business that involves helping people to find escapes and share ownership in vacation homes around the world. It's called TeamFunZ since we play as Teams to achieve our Dreams and we go on beyond Zebra as good ol' Dr. Seuss used to say... Feel free to contact me for more info.
This area where we have our beach home reminds me of how Hawaii was before it was a state and over developed. It's a wonderful scenic area with the birds and jungle and ocean and breezes all right there in one spectacular location. It's off the main road and just enough away from the tourist sites that we have the best of both worlds - our peace & quiet as well as convenience and access. And did I mention the snorkeling & diving out front is some of the best on the island too?
What can I say? Words fail me -pictures help - but when you are relaxing in a hammock after a day's adventure under water or on the ziplines or jungle trails, with your feet up and the sun going down - you will know what I mean when I say that Paradise is achievable and enjoyable at our little piece of heaven on earth.
We're from Wyoming & Montana & like to getaway each year for a trip with our girlfriends. This year 8 of us chose Roatan & South Seas Escape - a Great Choice for both were spectacular! The stars at night are so very incredible! Back home we can't sit out like this for hours -even in the summer up north without getting cold - and yet here strong sea breezes blow & we stay Happy! Returning home refreshed, relaxed and tanned as the Honduran coffee we came to appreciate - so much stronger than ours but hey - this place rocks it! We are ready to go back to being Cowgirls who DON'T sing the Blues!
We absolutely adored our time at South Seas Island Escape in Roatan. It was everything my husband and I hoped it would be; peaceful and relaxing, with the right amount of down-time and adventure close at hand. There is amazing diving and snorkeling 100 yards off the end of the dock. We went deep sea fishing and paddled our kayaks through the mangroves less than a mile from our front door. We played, swam, snorkeled, ate and watched the world cup in West End! We took a delightful zip-line tour near the airport. The property is close to everything we wanted to see and do, but we had a real feeling of being in our own private island paradise.
The property is gorgeous and many improvements have been made recently that enhance the authentic island charm that permeates this tropical get away! It met and exceeded our expectations. We could not have been more thrilled with our escape from reality!
This was the exact vacation we always dreamed about.
Swimming right outside our beachfront property and seeing amazing fish in the beautiful coral reef. The dock provided the perfect relaxing, sun bathing, taking a dip, or reading a book in a hammock.
We loved being able to snorkel and kayak out to the reef. Another family favorite was beach volleyball and beach soccer.
And the star gazing at night was amazing.
You can tell the owners have really put some time and money into upgrading the place. With fresh paint, new counter tops, and new décor. It was nice and quiet day and night.
This secluded beach property provides a private and less "touristy" experience, yet is still just a $1 bus ride from all the attractions of West End. (Cindy's place for breakfast, "The Taco Guy" for dinner, Delisioso for Ice Cream, and Scuba Roatan for diving).
Can't wait to go back again!
We sought out South Seas because we were looking for a more private, longer term rental right on the beach. The owner was so accommodating and this has worked out perfectly for our family. I think the "Never Again" review should be taken with a grain of salt...an example of how you won't be able to please all of the people all of the time. We were not looking for a "Hilton" experience, but a comfortable beach house with character, and we have not been disappointed. The view is a million dollar view, we never tire of looking at the clear blue ocean from the deck. We came in right after the "Never Again" folks, and as they posted in their review, we have seen no signs of mice or rat droppings. While there are bats not just here, but on pretty much the whole island, we are glad for them as they eat the mosquitoes.
We have been totally pleased with the property. While no place is perfect, I suspect your experience with this or any other house much as in life will depend on what you choose to see or look for.
The kayaking and snorkeling are amazing, and the property has a volleyball net on the beach that we've used many times with friends and family. No other neighbor has one. The dock makes for breathtaking sunsets, and the stargazing from it at night is phenomenal.
If you're looking for a laid back "Island" experience that is more private and quiet, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for "Resort Hotel" experience with daily linen service, an in house concierge and brimming with other tourists, you might want to try staying in West Bay.
As for us, we'll take our "slice of heaven" here at South Seas anytime. :-)
Location of the property was nice. However, everyone was looking forward to laying on the beach on a lounger as the beach is full of sand fleas and you get bitten like crazy. We had asked for loungers as we were here for 17 days. We never did see a lounger. Some of the beds had no bed sheets and those that did have sheets were stained. The kitchen was filthy as the stove was lined with grease and leaked gas the first two days we were here. We found a rat trap in the kitchen along with rat droppings. We cleaned up the droppings along with giving the kitchen a thorough cleaning. We were finding new rat droppings everyday. The lady next door told us the last day that were here that the place is infested with rats. We would be woke up early every morning by the bats coming back to their roosting area above our bedroom window. We had counted twenty in all. The place comes with two sea kayaks but the paddles were so bad that we went once. We felt sorry for the property manager (Terry) as we were calling him most of the time we were here. He did a fantastic job for what he had to work with. One was the kitchen stove had leaked out two tanks of propane before he got it fixed. Shower was leaking all over the floor and onto the vehicle below the bathroom, silverware is all rusty, refrigerator did not work well. The owner really needs to put some money into this place to get it up to where it is suitable to stay. I wish the property manager all the luck in the world, he will need it.
We had a wonderful (and too brief!) stay at South Seas. We needed a short stay on Roatan on our way back from Guanaja, and found that there was no place on the island that accommodated requests of less than 3 nights. South Seas allowed us to stay (on very short notice), and we had a delightful experience. They have an incredible dock out close to the snorkeling, that also leads to a shallow sandy area where we could cool off and swim (without a bunch of sea grass under us, which is more typical). They are at the end of a long beach, so the location is very quiet and private. The restaurant next door is no longer there, so noise was not an issue. We enjoyed long walks all along Sandy Bay, and found the most incredible little family operated restaurant right on the beach (the only restaurant along the beach) that had the best food that we experienced in our entire 10 day stay in the bay islands (Restaurante El Paso). South Seas has a wonderful deck with incredible ocean views and outdoor tables for dining that are in the shade of a palapa. We found there to be no sand flies which was heavenly. We spent time with the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are definitely on the rustic side, so come here if you are looking for a more laid back island experience.
Very rustic. Not a 5 star location. Property manager was very accommodating. Home is in need of some tlc. View of ocean and the peer was excellent. Very quiet location. If you are looking to get away to sit and relax its a great spot. Good location for snorkling and scuba diving. Both are excellent. Overall a good vacation spot.
We have Volleyball set, and several easy to use restaurants nearby including Rick's American Cafe, Roatan Ricks, and Anthony's Key Resort
