About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 2 TOT#1096N

The Speakeasy Cottage is located one hour north of San Francisco nestled on a 20 acre private ranch off of Scenic Hwy 12 in Kenwood, CA. Our late Aunt Sally Stanford purchased the ranch in 1961 as a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. She was San Franciscos's most famous Madame and Sausalito's former Mayor. We named this rental 'Speakeasy Cottage' as a tribute to her illustrious career.

The cottage is located right in the heart of Sonoma County wine country in an area that is well known as the Valley of the Moon.

We are registered with the county and our Transient Occupany Tax Number is # 1096N.

- The quite hours (10pm-7am) to be observed by all guests.

- 1 vehicle per bedroom allowed.

- Maximum of 2 guests inside the rental are allowed.

Very enjoyable, Clean and Quite.

  • 5 of 5

Like everyone else noted the cottage was very clean, nicely furnished, fully stocked including milk, butter, water, coffee, etc. We found the cottage so quite and enjoyable we grilled in and ate in the backyard all but one of the four nights. The location is also excellent, Central to all of the best wine country locations. We have stayed in the area many times and have paid a heck of a lot more for a less enjoyable experience. This is now our go to place when visiting the area.

Almost forgot, there it a book in the cottage the "autobiography of Sally Standford" it is a must read. She was a very interesting person.

So much more than expected

Judy and David were wonderful hosts! The cottage is lovely (and roomy!), and they provided us with complimentary wine and cheese among many other things. We enjoyed a few meals on the back patio and a walk around the property. We could not have been more thrilled with the Speakeasy cottage, and you could not stay in a more convenient location if you are looking to wander around wine country. Loved it!

Beautiful cottage & super nice people!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't be happier with our stay here. I arranged this for my girlfriend's birthday getaway and it was perfect. The price was excellent, especially compared to those found anywhere near Sonoma proper. Plus there is of course the added mystique and history behind the property and its illustrious former owner.

We were greeted with a full fridge and a complimentary bottle of red (which was quite good I have to say!) which is always a welcoming addition. There are beautiful views all around which I took full advantage of with my camera during the golden hours. I will not hesitate to book this again when we are back in the Sonoma area!

An adorable cottage, fantastically updated and beautifully decorated!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing weekend at the Speakeasy Cottage. The building itself was very cute, it was equipped with everything we needed, and David thoughtfully provided a whole array of complimentary snacks and beverages.

It also sits in the perfect location: in the middle of several great hiking/running parks and surrounded by incredible vineyards, wineries, and tasting rooms. David was again very helpful in recommending some fantastic places to try and suggesting several tours to experience.

We would absolutely come back to the Speakeasy Cottage on our next visit to Sonoma!

Beautiful property.. wonderful experience! Couldn't have asked for more!

  • 5 of 5

The Sally Stanford Ranch is filled with charm and beauty! We were greeted by owner Judy Thomas who welcomed us to our home for the weekend of June 23, 2017. Everything we could possibly need was provided including goodies in the fridge! The cottages were tastefully decorated and the beds so comfortable. The linens were fresh and the towels fluffy! Anything that might have been forgotten was available.. razor, toiletries, etc. The laundry on the grounds was convenient as was the iron and ironing board in the cottages. The location is ideal for some of the best winerys in Sonoma Valley. Anyone planning a quiet getaway to wine country will not be disappointed with a stay at Sally Stanford Ranch! Thanks to Judy and David Thomas for your hospitality and attention to detail! We loved everything!
