Come enjoy Lake living at its best! This is a great all-seasons property, excellent for a spring or summer outdoor vacation/getaway, a fall foliage viewing trip, or winter skiing/snowmobiling destination. Whether you are looking for an outdoor adventure, a memorable week spent with family and friends , or a quiet get-away, this home is the perfect ‘basecamp’ from which to explore the Lakes region and Mt. Washington Valley, or to simply just relax in, at any time of year. From swimming, boating/fishing, golfing, and hiking to dining, shopping, and family attractions ranging from scenic tours to craft fairs to amusement parks, you’ll have countless activities to choose from in the area.
With 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms in the main house, as well as an adjacent, seasonal “guest cottage” (one additional bedroom, living room, and a third bathroom – available only in summer weekly rentals), this home is perfect for extended family vacations or other groups. Additionally, this home has a warm, “cottage”, feel, but without being cramped or lacking amenities. In addition to spacious bedrooms and open living spaces, this lake house features a pool table in the downstairs rec room, window air conditioning units and ceiling fans for your comfort, as well as a recently upgraded chef’s kitchen that is perfect for cooking meals for a group (kitchen includes Jenn Air appliances, granite countertops, as well as many modern conveniences such as a dishwasher, garbage disposal, gas cooktop, and trash compactor).
From the open concept kitchen/living room and from the large deck, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of crystal clear Lake Ossipee. It’s just a few steps out your front door to the Ossipee Bluffs Association sandy beach (~50 feet away/shared waterfront), which has picnic tables, a roped-off shallow swimming area, boat launch, volleyball net and children’s play set. Most importantly, you’ll love the breathtaking views of the White Mountains including Mt. Chocorua and Mt. Washington (the tallest peak east of the Mississippi @ 6,288 ft). With two marinas on the lake, you don’t need your own boat – rentals of all types (from boats for fishing and water sports, to kayaks, canoes, and waverunners) are available nearby.
Our family resides in the greater Boston area and have been visiting the Lakes region and White Mountain recreation areas for years. There are so many wonderful events and attractions throughout the year - from outdoor activities and adventures to shopping, dining, and amusement parks. We know you will love the area as much as we do!
Anne purchased this house in 2013
We love that our cottage has rustic charm (for example the pine walls and ceiling), but also many modern amenities and upgrades, so that you feel like you are getting away but not exactly roughing it. Lake Ossipee and the surrounding White Mountains offer so much - we've been coming to visit for years (in all seasons - to enjoy everything from skiing to swimming to shopping & Storyland) before we found the perfect home for us.
We love to cook and entertain - we always make good use of the upgraded kitchen / open dining area when we are visiting, whether for a week or just a night. We also love waking up and having coffee on the deck (or walking the very short distance right to the lake/beach!). It has also been wonderful to have a home that is large enough to host family and friends, with enough room for everyone to have a little space :). The guest cottage in particular works well for in-laws, au pairs/nannies, or friends who might want a little more privacy and space. Last but not least, we love that we are just steps to the beach, but have plenty of privacy with no visible neighbors - which offers the perfect balance of activity and serenity.
Wow, your place is amazing! Everything was seamless in getting in, and we were delightedly surprised by how nice the amenities are. Even better was the feeling of getting away from it all (we live in the city). The beautiful views of the water and the woods surrounding the cabin were incredible. Thank you for giving us a perfect trip, and we will definitely be booking again!
Home is in great location right off of route 16. Has had many upgrades, needs a few more but would definitely rent it again and recommend it to anyone. We rented the for 2017 fishing berby with family and friends, the house had everything we needed and more. Checkihg availability for summer months.
I would love to rent again here, the kitchen is spacious and well equipped, the living room is spacious and very cozy, home has a fun game room, plenty of parking and much more!
The house is exactly as described. Totally met our expectations and more. We were at peace and enjoyed our stay to the point where it was almost too hard to say goodbye. Perfect view to appreciate fall foliage. Looking forward to make more memories in this house on a different season.
The house is beautiful and the lot is right across the street from the sandy association beach. The house had great water views, was very spacious with the downstairs pool room, upstairs open living area with the dining room, massive and gorgeous kitchen, and living room. The four bedrooms in the main house all had plenty of room and the A/C units all worked wonderfully in the 90 degree weather we had most of the week. The little cottage was also very spacious but could have used an A/C unit in the bedroom as well. We mentioned a few very minor issues to the house and Anne responded very quickly and planned to address them right away. We will definitely reconsider this location when we plan another family get together. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
I have rented this house twice. Its beautiful, has everything you need, all the comforts of home and the location is amazing! The owners are great! They respond quickly, are generous, and are truly a pleasure to deal with all the time! There is plenty of space for a large amount of people. I will be back many times and always recommend to friends and family!
Tthe location of this home is perfectly suited for getting away without sacrificing convenience. While you’ll enjoy the privacy and beauty of the lake and NH woods, you’ll also be ~10min from Hannaford Brothers grocery store, CVS Pharmacy, Dunkin’ Donuts and several dining options (Yankee Smokehouse, Pizza Barn, Indian Mound Club, Route 16 Dairy Bar, a state liquor store and more). Depending on the season, activity options abound!
There’s nothing better than summer at the Lake! The options for outdoor fun abound, beginning of course at the lake which is just steps from the front door of this house. Lake Ossipee is over 3,000 acres of clear, beautiful water, not including the bays. Bring your own boat or visit a local marina for rentals. Fishing enthusiasts will find small and large mouth bass, three kinds of trout, land lock salmon and plenty of others.
For golfers, the Indian Mound Golf Club (an 18 hold public golf course) is just minutes away, with several other public courses within a 30 min drive.
If you enjoy hiking, Mt. Chocorua which stands 3,490 feet tall, has become very popular with New Hampshire hikers because of its rugged trails and majestic views (located in Tamworth, ~11mi or ~20 minutes away). You’ll also find plenty of outdoor adventure in the area at the various zip line courses or alpine slide rides. Monkey Trunks is just a 15 min drive away, and then you’re only 35-45 min from Cranmore and Attitash mountain resorts which have zip lines, mountain coasters, and other summer fun.
You’ll also be just 20 minutes (~11 miles) from Wolfeboro and Lake Winnipesaukee. Wolfeboro is the quintessential New England lake town and holds the distinction of being ‘The Oldest Summer Resort in America’ (and more recently in the news as one of the Romney’s vacation destinations).
During summer or anytime, a visit to picturesque Cornish, ME is just a ~30 min drive east and a great way to spend a day or an afternoon. From unique shopping (antiques, local crafts, and gifts), to numerous dining options (you certainly won’t leave the popular Bay Haven Two Pound Lobster restaurant hungry), to events throughout the year, from the Strawberry Festival in July to Christmas in Cornish in December. For details, visit: http://www.cornish-maine.org/.
And last but not least, the scenic towns of Conway and N. Conway (30-40 min) are just north of Lake Ossipee on Rt. 16. In addition to the outlet malls, there are local and antique shops, scenic train rides,
Fall is an amazing time of year on Ossipee – you’ll see spectacular fail foliage all around you, all with the gorgeous backdrop of the beautiful Lake Ossipee and White Mountains. Stay right on the deck and take in the views, or if you choose explore the area, take a drive on the famous Kangamangus Highway (~30 min) or the stunning Mt. Washington Auto Road (~1 hour). A horseback ride or scenic train ride are also wonderful ways to take in the fall colors. And if you are looking to start your Christmas shopping, the North Conway outlet malls offer something for everyone (and typically have specials beginning Columbus Day).
I like this fall foliage tracker (though not yet been updated for 2013):
Love to ski, snowboard, or snowmobile? There’s no better place to enjoy winter wonderland than at the foot of the White Mountains. Right across the street, the Purity Pines resort also offers ice skating. For more of a challenge, within 30-50minutes you’ll have access to Cranmore, Attitash, Bretton Woods, and Wildcat mountains.
Snowmobiling, ice fishing and snowshoeing are available just as you step out the door. The snowmobiling trails in Ossipee are very well maintained and some of the most scenic trail systems around (Ossipee is after all home of the first snowmobile). This home also has a three car garage so there is plenty of room to bring all of your toys! Bundle up and enjoy the outdoor fun, and then come inside to the gas fireplace and pool table / rec room when you are ready to relax for the evening.
