Condo D-24 at the Kona Reef is an absolutely oceanfront, 3rd floor, fully furnished, non-smoking, one bedroom condo with a complete kitchen. The lanai (balcony) is located only 30 feet from the ocean. There is terrific tide pooling and exploring in the lava rocks. And if it's sand you want, you need to walk only a few hundred feet to the sandy park next to the condo complex (ocean swimming at the park is for experienced swimmers only.)

D-24 is a recently renovated and fully furnished condo that provides a wonderful place to just sit and relax. From your lanai, watch the surfers during the day and the sunsets at night. You'll also see jet boats, parasailing, and huge cruise ships. During the winter months. you may see whales passing by and it's not unusual to see schools of dolphins. Large turtles are permanent residents in the tide pool area and shoreline.

The Kona Reef is a low-rise oceanfront condo complex located close to the center of Kona. While away from the center of activity, it's an easy 2 block walk from the condo, along the waterfront to shopping and restaurants. Fresh produce, flowers, and macadamia nuts are available at the nearby farmers' market. The Kona Airport is about 8 miles away. Kahalu'u Beach Park, one of the best snorkeling areas in Hawaii, is just a few miles from the condo.

A large oceanfront pool, Jacuzzi, and chaise lounge area makes the Kona Reef a relaxing place to stay. Four gas-fired barbecues provide a great place to cook dinner, which you can eat at the tables and chairs in the barbecue area or take back to your private lanai.

Our condo is fully furnished and stocked with our guests in mind. The bedroom has a brand new king-size bed, tropical furnishings, plenty of storage, and a TV. The newly remodeled kitchen has granite counter tops, a refrigerator with icemaker, a new electric stove, dishwasher and microwave, plenty of cookware (for barbecue or stove), and dishware/silverware for 8. It also has a coffee grinder, a rice cooker, and a blender, as well as a toaster. The living room has comfortable furnishings, including a brand new queen sofa/sleeper. There's a TV with DVD player. A cabinet contains an extensive collection of books, puzzles, and DVDs. You'll also find coolers, a boogie board, and other toys for water play. A sliding glass door covers the full width and height of one wall of the living room. And directly outside that door is the private balcony and the ocean.

Our guests have been delighted with the condo and we think you will be too.

About Jan

We bought this condo a couple of years ago after owning another condo (D-3) at the Kona Reef for many years. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and try to come for long visits to our condo a couple of times a year. While there, we usually buy some new furnishings or make some other improvement in the condo as we want our guests to enjoy the space as much as we do. We remember what it was like to rent someone else's condo for our vacation and we try to make sure that all the little things (i.e. beach chairs, coolers, etc.) are available for our guests. We also never forget that a trip to Hawaii is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of our guests and we want them to be thrilled with the condo they've selected.

Why Jan chose Kona Coast

We bought this condo a couple of years ago after owning another condo (D-3) at the Kona Reef for many years. We were getting requests for reservations that we couldn't accommodate in D-3 because it was already booked. Now that we have D-24, we are able to accommodate more guests, particularly during the busy times.

After visiting each of the Hawaiian Islands, we found that we enjoyed the Big Island the most. The variety of scenery throughout the Island is amazing and we still love to travel over to Hilo side or to the volcano or north to the beautiful beaches in the Waikaloa area. But we were especially drawn to Kona because of the sunny weather and all the ocean activities. We love to snorkel and swim and we've also done some kayaking in the area.

What makes this condo unique

Despite the many visits to our condos at the Kona Reef, we still are amazed when we arrive, go out on the lanai, and find the ocean right there. We don't feel like we have to do much to have a true vacation at our condo; just relaxing on the lanai or by the pool is vacation enough. One of the reasons we wanted to buy at the Kona Reef is because it's so close to the activity of downtown Kona without being in the middle of the noise. As we're walking the 2-3 blocks downtown, we see the car traffic and people having trouble parking and are so glad we don't have to drive and park, which most visitors to Kona have to do. Another thing we like about the Kona Reef is that we've found the other condo owners and the guests to be especially friendly so we enjoy the general atmosphere. And the condo association is constantly making improvements to the complex so we always feel that everything is being well-maintained.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Kona and the condo was fabulous. We spent hours on the lanai enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. We were a bit disappointed that we never saw any sea turtles basking on the rocks as we had read in other reviews. We still loved the place and also fell in love with the Big Island. We will surely be back.

Very nice condo!

We had a great time staying in Jan's condo over the holidays. The condo has an awesome view of the ocean and magnificent sunsets. The condo was well stocked with everything we needed and then some! There was a nice ocean breeze that really made it comfortable. Wish we were still there!

Perfect location

While much could be said about how nicely decorated and maintained this condo is, what is really special is the location. The condo itself is truly ocean front with the lanai sitting just above the waves. And the resort itself is within easy walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants and shopping. All in all, it couldn't be better.

Fantastic location & amazing view

We stayed in this condo for 2 weeks around the Ironman. The location was ideal, a 15 min walk from the pier and expo, so quiet enough not to be right in the centre of the village but quick to get in on race day.

The view from the balcony is amazing and the sound of waves breaking on the shore constantly is hypnotic and the location within D block is one of the best/quietest in the complex. The condo had everything we needed, including washer/dryer which was perfect for all the post race sports kit.

The condo was clean and well looked after although I felt the décor/furnishings could do with being updated. In addition, in would have been nice to have a proper shower cubicle rather than a shower over the bath (we've stayed in other condo's in the complex which have been refurbished in this way). I'm being picky here but I also found the sofa and chairs in the lounge area really uncomfortable for sit on for any length of time (although to be fair, we didn't want to spend too much time sitting indoors but it would have been nice to have a sofa that was more comfortable).

Overall the complex was perfect for our needs. Next time we might try to get a condo which has been updated to a better standard but overall, this condo was great and none of the above comments would be sufficient to stop us staying in this one again.

We bought it about 3 years ago and, at that time, we bought all new furnishings, painted the whole place and totally remodeled the kitchen with granite counters, all new appliances, etc. we made a conscious decision to keep the bathtub with shower as we had removed the bathtub in our other Kona Reef condo and some guests are looking for a place with a bathtub. Wonderful first time stay!

Jan's property was a perfect choice for us. Everything was clean, in working order and tastefully decorated. The view, hands down, was amazing! Jan also included so many nice touches such as a things to do idea box, beach chairs, beach towels and so many other amenities! The pool was wonderful and the parking was very convenient. Jan and the property management were extremely responsive and friendly to work with.

All in all, the perfect spot to stay for our first visit to The Big Island!

Wonderful Beautiful ocean view!

We loved our stay in D24 at the Kona Reef! The condo was clean and had everything. The ocean view from the Lanai is outstanding, so much to watch, surfers, dolphins, parasailers, boats, etc.

The pool and BbQ area are well maintained and we enjoyed it very much!

The condo is walking distance to the town of Kona, so there is plenty to do.

The snorkle book in the condo directed us to some great areas, especially, the Fairwind snorkle boat tour. We loved JackieReys for dinner only about a mile away. When we come back to Kona, I hope to stay here again in this condo.

There is a small beach park just steps away (strong swimmers only); tide pooling in front of the condo; just a few blocks ocean front walk to 'downtown' Kona and its many shops and resturants (including a farmers market); just a couple of miles from Kahulu'u Park, a premier snorkling area. Tennis available on the courts at the hotel next door.The Kona Reef is one of the few Kona condo complexes that's an easy walk to downtown but not in the middle of the activity there.
