About Leanne Walasek

Owner and Georgia Real Estate Broker who loves the outdoors wants to share my paradise with you. I am a small business owner, a frequent traveler, a sports enthusiast and a nature lover. I know once you step on the property, you will fall in love with it like I have.

I am currently in the midst of a personal sabbatical, working at jobs I love, meeting everyone I can and will soon write about my experience in the loft of the cabin. In the meantime, please enjoy my Daves' retreat while you can.

Leanne Walasek purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Leanne Walasek chose North Georgia Mountains

A short trip from ATL will find yourself in the middle of the Chattahochee National Forrest. Once you visit, it will become very obvious how lucky I was to find this cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

I recommend coming prepared with at least a few days of groceries. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave. Even though the nearest grocery store is but 15 minutes away, you'll want to leave civilization behind for a least a few days.

First order of business after putting up the groceries is to pour yourself your favorite beverage and sit on the front porch swing. Unwind. Relax. Decompress.

Next, familiarize yourself with the house. Pick your bedrooms. Become one in the treetops as you gaze out the giant loft windows. Make yourself at home. You will soon find how easy that will be.

Peak at the basement. Plan your downstairs game time. Maybe a little wager at the pool table. Bring your Wii or X Box to hook up to the gigantic TV. The kids won't surface for hours.

Next fix yourself your favorite meal. My favorite, a big spaghetti dinner. The open kitchen and living area provides a great gathering spot. Of course, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill is a crowd pleaser. If you bring your own wood, you can use the fire pit in the middle of the gravel driveway (away from cars!). There are plenty of lawn chairs to sit and roast marshmallows.

Take a hike down Daves Road. If you continue past the house, this will lead you up Gork Hollow to the top of Picklesheimer Mountain. There are beautiful views up there. The walk is peaceful, through the tall pines and oaks, past the mountain feeder creeks embraced by dense ferns. You might even come upon a few deer.

Be adventurous and explore the area. Embrace the north Georgia mountains. Fish, hike, shop, dine, raft, and do some scenic driving. Make sure you visit all the websites listed. With the numerous things to do, you might run out of time if you don't plan!

OR you can just stay at the cabin and relax!

Excellent Cabin Price way too Low

  • 5 of 5

My family of four arrived this cabin on Saturday and I was impressed by how nice it is. Pictures on the VRBO do not do this place justice. It is very spacious, well decorated, and serves well. Kids had so much fun playing pool table downstairs, listening to music, playing cards upstairs, climbing the stairs, and jumping in the hot tub. I enjoyed sitting out on the porch to read, laying on the comfy couch to browse web, cooking in the spacious kitchen and serving a meal on the wonderful dining table. I am a VRBO owner myself, and I feel that Leanne could have charged a lot more for it. This place is already very nice. Just a few little things changed, it would definitely be top notch. The cabin absolutely deserves higher place. I feel that we robbed her to rent such a nice cabin at so low price. Well at least I can leave a good review with unbiased opinion.

This area is great. Blue ridge lake is pretty close. My family brought a little boat with us and we took kids out boating, fishing, and swimming. They had a great time. Lake was gorgeous. Beautiful view and water was very clear. It is nice to come to the mountain in such hot summer. Weather is just great here! Not hot at all and we are actually enjoying ourselves outdoors! (We are from Florida)

I would recommend this place to family with young kids, and family get together. Bring the kids here and they will have lots of fun. I am actually writing the review from the living room couch while my kids playing downstairs. It is amazing how the basement keeps them entertained all day long.

we loved it

  • 5 of 5

We enjoy our stay and will come back. I like the distribution and the property peacefulness. Our little dog jack loved to run outside and loved the nice green area. The kitchen has everything, it was great. The master bedroom bed was unconfortable. We like that it was close to blue ridge town and the lake. The lake has kayaks, canoes, paddle board and typoon for rent which was really nice. We enjoy the time in basement with the pool table. Can't wait to be back and stay there again. Thank you

Excellent Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was great, had everything and anything that we needed. We stayed for about 9 days and enjoyed everyday. Here's some pro's and con's about our stay.

Pros:

Large Cabin with huge kitchen

Huge yard for kids to play

Washer/Dyer

Game Room downstairs

About 25 mins to Downtown Blue Ridge & other areas

Close to tubing

Owner responded fast to any emails I sent

Nice neighbors

Cons:

Lots of Bugs Outside (not owners fault)

Cant fish in the pond or swim

Have to bring your trash to the dump (about 20 mins away), about $2.50 a bag (not bad at all)

Quiet, relaxing home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was everything it was advertised to be, and more. It was equipped with all the amenities you would ever need. Our boys loved the basement with the pool table, big screen TV, and pull-out sofa. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch, listening to the stream and enjoying the view. The cabin is in a quiet and secluded area. The owner, Leanne is such a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be returning for another nice and relaxing week at this cabin.

Beware!!! Maintenance required!!!!

  • 1 of 5

I'd like to say the town is excellent and I highly recommend. The area is beautiful, so please visit. However, we arrived at what seems like a very cute cabin that we were excited about visiting. The owner was nice enough to let us check in early because we drove through the night. And then....

1st off our kids needed to rest so we tried the tv and the service was out. We called dish oursleves and set up the repair and handled the whole thing days later when they could get out there. It was 90+ degrees and the ac wasn't working. I texted owner after 2 days of waiting for it to get better. WE didn't turn way down until our kids were dying in there trying to sleep on night 2. The AC man said freeon was low, and fixed it. The power was out for hours the first day also. The pool table is a borderline death trap barely held together by screws which my husband got his tools out and tightened them back so it didn't fall on our kids. The beds sag way down in the middle making it so hard to sleep. The toilet was running when we got there and we turned it off and only used the upstairs one, which was inconvenient to say the least with the super steep stairs. We texted the owner about that also. We could have ignored it, kept using it and let it go but we were trying to treat this place as if it was ours. The modem stopped working, and there is zero cell service so in order to receive texts we needed Internet. So I was nice enough to call he company and have them send another one free for the owner. I was super kind about all of these things and said we were just happy we could get it handled. In the end, she filed a claim on the travelers insurance she requires you to get for a broken toilet, AC, couch??? And dog code violation which we didn't even have a dog!! I think she requires this insurance so she can pay for all maintenance and cleaning crews for this cabin which is insurance fraud. She was so appreciative saying she was so happy to have such proactive people there and then files that claim to get money. There are many cabins for rent in the area and I do highly recommend that you rent one of those.

Owner's Response: BEWARE VRBO Homeowners: DO NOT RENT TO THIS FAMILY! To those reading this review, please be advised that this family violated 6 points on the contract and disrespected my home, leaving it a disaster area. LOVELY PROPERTY WELL EQUIPPED -- BEDS NOT GREAT

  • 3 of 5

This is a lovely property in a great location. The cabin is clean and well maintained and equipped with everything for eight people to be very comfortable. Three negatives: The beds are not very comfortable. There is a need for better instructions -- we never could figure out how to work the tv, or what to do with the garbage (except not to leave it.), and prospective renters should be warned about how steep the stairs to the second floor and to the basement are.

I would recommend this property, with the caveats above.
