Owner and Georgia Real Estate Broker who loves the outdoors wants to share my paradise with you. I am a small business owner, a frequent traveler, a sports enthusiast and a nature lover. I know once you step on the property, you will fall in love with it like I have.
I am currently in the midst of a personal sabbatical, working at jobs I love, meeting everyone I can and will soon write about my experience in the loft of the cabin. In the meantime, please enjoy my Daves' retreat while you can.
Leanne Walasek purchased this cabin in 2002
A short trip from ATL will find yourself in the middle of the Chattahochee National Forrest. Once you visit, it will become very obvious how lucky I was to find this cabin.
I recommend coming prepared with at least a few days of groceries. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave. Even though the nearest grocery store is but 15 minutes away, you'll want to leave civilization behind for a least a few days.
First order of business after putting up the groceries is to pour yourself your favorite beverage and sit on the front porch swing. Unwind. Relax. Decompress.
Next, familiarize yourself with the house. Pick your bedrooms. Become one in the treetops as you gaze out the giant loft windows. Make yourself at home. You will soon find how easy that will be.
Peak at the basement. Plan your downstairs game time. Maybe a little wager at the pool table. Bring your Wii or X Box to hook up to the gigantic TV. The kids won't surface for hours.
Next fix yourself your favorite meal. My favorite, a big spaghetti dinner. The open kitchen and living area provides a great gathering spot. Of course, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill is a crowd pleaser. If you bring your own wood, you can use the fire pit in the middle of the gravel driveway (away from cars!). There are plenty of lawn chairs to sit and roast marshmallows.
Take a hike down Daves Road. If you continue past the house, this will lead you up Gork Hollow to the top of Picklesheimer Mountain. There are beautiful views up there. The walk is peaceful, through the tall pines and oaks, past the mountain feeder creeks embraced by dense ferns. You might even come upon a few deer.
Be adventurous and explore the area. Embrace the north Georgia mountains. Fish, hike, shop, dine, raft, and do some scenic driving. Make sure you visit all the websites listed. With the numerous things to do, you might run out of time if you don't plan!
OR you can just stay at the cabin and relax!
A group of us wanted a nice close getaway weekend and wanted to do some White Water rafting. We had several people in our group of 8, and everyone had a great time. We loved swinging on the front porch swing. The porch was our gathering place the entire weekend. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals for our large crowd. The open floor plan was great and I loved the soaring ceiling in the great room. On the last night we built a bonfire. There was plenty of wide open space to explore. We had a lot of fun and hope to do it again really soon!
Really enjoyed our getaway here! My husband and I had a relaxing long weekend here. It is so serene. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire, the hot tub and throwing a football around in the wide open field. We went into the town of Blueridge and absolutely loved the atmosphere. Felt so refreshed after leaving and would love to come back one day!
It exceeded our expectations and truly enjoyed it..Very cozy and peaceful, would highly recommend. Definitely going back in the summer for a longer stay..Well kept and extremely clean
We wanted a nice close getaway weekend and chose this cabin because it wasn't too far from Atlanta. We had several family members, a group of 7, and everyone had a great time. The kids enjoyed the basement area with the big screen tv that they watched movies (DVD's they brought), and loved the pool table. They also loved sleeping in the upstairs loft area. I loved swinging on the front porch swing and watching the birds while I had my coffee in the morning. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals for our large crowd. The open floor plan was great and I loved the soaring ceiling in the great room. We hiked further up the mountain and explored the natural beauty of the area while we were there. We also drove to nearby Lake Blue Ridge where they had a small public beach area that had a picnic area, a small store with ice cream and snacks, and also kayak and paddle board rentals. We plan to go again and explore the downtown Blue Ridge area.
The description of the cabin and its amenities completely met our expectations. It was a very nice getaway that my friends and me desperately needed and my dog loved his stay as well. Although we used it to the max, the Jacuzzi could use some work. The price for the cabin was below what we got. Wonderful cabin to visit and Leanne (owner) was very helpful with any questions we had.
A little late getting my review written, but wanted to make sure to convey what a beautiful location and stay my wife had! My wife and I were coming up to enjoy our anniversary. Leanne helped me by picking up flowers in Blue Ridge that I had ordered and had them placed in the house for our arrival. I couldn't of dreamt of better service than that! Thanks Leanne. The house was very clean and cozy and warm. Everything was there that we needed to disconnect! The house was very well appointed and nicely set up. We took advantage of the hot tub and all the amenities. It was a nice distance from Morganton and Blue Ridge and easy drive to get in to town to have some dinner or shop. You will not be disappointed with your stay. Thanks Leanne for keeping a wonderful home and for your hospitality.
