Our Little Ranch Retreat
We invite you to stay at our warm and welcoming little ranch retreat. Our home has travertine tile and hardwood flooring throughout. Antique items decorate most every room. Our home comfortably sleeps 6 to 8 guests.
We have 3 spacious bedrooms with ample pillows, down comforters and extra blankets for each bed. In addition to the large beds, there are also a full-sized pull out sofa bed and twin-sized rollaway bed.
There are 2 full baths equipped with thick absorbent towels and basic toiletries. The master bath has a large custom built shower and a separate roomy jetted tub. The other bath features a claw foot tub with a one of a kind overhead shower.
In the main room you can sink yourself into the over-sized leather couch, love seat or chair for watching television, socializing or to simply relax at the end of the day’s adventure. The den has a comfortable place to sit and enjoy our small library of horse related reading material. There are many board games and toys to entertain all ages as well.
Our fully stocked kitchen has everything you need. Bring your groceries for preparing simple snacks to cooking gourmet meals. The kitchen and dining area are open to each other making it a perfect place for family and friends to gather.
Our horses, which are located on the property, are an absolute plus. They’re eager to take carrots from you and to make you smile.
We have staggering sunrises and sunsets most everyday. Stars appear in numbers beyond belief in the crisp clear night air as the Grand Canyon area has some of the darkest skies in the world.
It’s always fun to roast marshmallows while sitting around the fire ring located outside and taking in the unobstructed mountain views. Relax under the large 700 square foot patio / awning which is equipped with an outdoor kitchen and barbeque grill.
Our little retreat is peacefully secluded from the hustle and bustle yet it is conveniently located about 30 minutes from the south rim entrance to the Grand Canyon. Enjoy the amazing Grand Canyon at the viewpoints of the rim. Hike a trail, take a river trip or view the wonderment of her beauty by air tour. We are also located about 30 minutes from the historic City of Williams where you can shop its unique stores and visit local attractions such as Bearizona.
Come visit us for your vacation or getaway. A positive guest experience is truly a passion of ours so we know you will certainly enjoy your stay.
Since 1994, Bob and I have made the Grand Canyon area our home and have raised our three boys in this wonderful location of Arizona.
Maxine purchased this house in 2003
This unique home offers a perfect get away. Our attention and care went into decorating every room.
Affectionate horses located on property. Unobstructed views of the San Francisco Peaks mountain range. Have outdoor burn ring / camp fire. Cooking facilities and barbeque on the huge deck.
Max's hospitality was absolutely awesome. She's the friendliest VRBO host I've ever dealt with. The place was charming, and better than advertised. Wish we could've stayed longer.
My husband and I and 3 adult kids visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in late May 2016 and stayed at Maxine and Bob's ranch retreat for a week. It was perfect. The house is very clean, very comfortable and has everything you need to cook meals and just relax. With lots of upgraded features, the ranch is well laid out and cared for. I loved the old style cowboy decor, and the fantastic view of Mt. Humphreys and surrounding mountains. As others have said, it is a perfect "base camp" to visiting the Grand Canyon. Close enough to be convenient, but far away from the crowds at the South Rim. I hope to visit the Canyon again, and would definitely stay here as my first choice!
You can stop looking now for a place for your family to stay on your Grand Canyon trip! This place is the REAL DEAL. From the ease of communication with the owner, to the cleanliness and comfort of the home, there is nothing about our stay that wasn't top notch. Aside from being a short 30 minutes from the south rim, this home features a quite resting spot away from the crowds, a huge front porch for enjoying the sunsets, wonderfully creative decor, and THE most comfortable bed in the master. Not to mention, plenty of room for the kids to play and unwind before or after a day of sightseeing. Our family of 5 was right at home and was sad to leave this place behind. Max does a wonderful job and even took the extra time to let our kids feed the horses. Book this one - you won't regret it.
Some VRBO houses take these wonderful photos and the place is nothing like that when you arrive. This IS NOT one of those places. The sense of peace and relaxation in this well equipped home is what made our Grand Canyon visit complete perfection. Spend your afternoons and evenings on the porch relaxing and planning the next day's activities. Feed the horses and watch the little rabbits hop along the ground. My kids got to know the bunnies and even named a couple. We made dinners and breakfasts in the house and all six of us were VERY comfortable. Thank you Maxine and Bob for the goodies. This place puts the "treat" in retreat. These five star reviews are real....and my family and I are happy to add our own five star experience to your list of reviews.
I stayed at this lovely ranch with my family over New Year's Eve 2016. The Canyon was packed but the ranch was a fantastic oasis from the crowds. The location enabled us to get into the Canyon early and be "home" for a late lunch each day. My favorite part was sitting by the fire on the extremely comfy couches playing games and watching movies with the kids. I also loved the gas stove and we cooked dinner every night which was great. The kids (ages 6 and 8) loved the horses and the outdoor space to roam.
If you like to cook (like I do) stock up on groceries and enjoy the space. We did go into Flagstaff (an hour away) one day and they had some nice organic grocery stores. The other highlight was Bearizona (about 30 minutes away). Driving through the wolves and bears was amazing for both kids and grown ups alike.
If you have really young kids (like toddlers) be aware that the wood stove in the living room gets really hot and it does get cold there in the winter (in the teens). We didn't have any issues with a 6 and 8 year old. Also, the heater in the hall kicks on and is very loud in one bedroom but after the first night we mostly used the wood stove so it wasn't an issue. The Master bed was huge and super comfortable. We all slept very well
It was a great stay and I highly recommended it!
We had 3 generations traveling, and all of us enjoyed our stay at the Little Ranch Retreat. Comfy beds, the owners are wonderful and love the horses. Plus it is an easy drive to the Grand Canyon while still being a quiet spot to escape the crowds.
30 minutes south of the majestic Grand Canyon which provides numerous activities. 30 minutes north of the historic City of Williams for shopping and dining. Approx 1 1/2 hours away from the red rocks of Sedona for a memorable day trip.
