|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
This three story house is perfect for a romantic get away or as a gathering space for family or group retreats. Spacious and secluded, it is nestled in the woods one mile from Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness in West Marin. Within easy reach of everything the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer, you can walk the nearby beaches and trails, enjoy a great selection of restaurants and locally grown food, or maybe find where Sir Francis Drake hid some of his treasure. Tomales bay and the ocean are within a few minutes' drive.
There is room enough to comfortably sleep 16 but we have accommodated as many as 20 people. The main kitchen seats 6 in the breakfast nook, the second kitchen seats 3 and the dining table in the main room seats 10. We keep extra chairs handy as well. The house is surrounded by forest and has a large deck with ample seating and two grills, two balconies, a pool table, piano, hardwood floors in every room, woodland views from every window, gardens, a variety of fruit trees, and chickens out back. Radiant heating warms the whole house and is especially nice in the bathrooms and kitchen. Very cozy on chill winter mornings.
There are 2 bedrooms, 2 suites, and the TV room may also be used as a private bedroom with closing doors and a fold-out couch. The entertainment room has a fold-out couch and the two suites each have a fold-out couch and space enough for an air bed, which we have plenty of. That totals 4 beds, 4 fold-out couches and space for 2 (or more) comfortable air beds, all of which are Queen.
We clean all contact surfaces in the house including all counter tops, table tops, door knobs, cabinet and drawer knobs, railings, chairs, table tops, window sills and any spider webs we find inside or outside. We wash all linens including towels, sheets, pillow cases, the bedspreads and table cloths. We clean the bathrooms and all floors. We also put all decorative pillows through the dryer on high.

Ruby Throated Hummingbirds can be seen in the backyard and from the kitchen window as they dart about the Chinese Lantern flowers.
Two osprey nests also can be seen from the kitchen, the deck, and the master bedroom. It is a treat to hear their cries as they circle on the thermals gaining altitude to then glide off to catch a meal. When they return sometimes they are harassed by crows or vultures or both as these thieves try to rob the ospreys of their catch. We have seen battles between the osprey pairs and groups of vultures. Each year several chicks hatch in each nest. The ospreys take turns guarding them. As one guards the other one defends against the vultures diving toward the nest.
I designed and engineered this home, incorporating chandeliers, molding, and antique glass and doors from estate auctions. I did most of the stonework around the house, handpicking about 120 yards of stone from the quarry at Sears Point. We hope you enjoy the home we have built- we're here to ensure your stay is everything you hoped it would be and more.
If you are considering an event such as a family get together, a celebration, or a seminar we can accommodate you. Long term stays may also be accommodated. Please contact us for pricing arrangements.
If you have children please inquire.
I have lived in Pt Reyes for over than 30 years. I raised my children here and my wife and I enjoy working in our glass studio. I also do research in nanotechnology. We enjoy traveling and cooking. Family is very important and we look forward to spending as much time as possible with family.
Surrounded by national park.
Ospreys occupy their nests - visible from our deck - from January to summer.
A short drive to see whales migrating and to see sea lions giving birth.
This place was great! A real unique feel in a wonderful little section of the woods, with gliding ospreys and roosters in the morning. The hosts were fantastic and nice - very easy going, but always there for you in case you had any questions. The house has a variety of things you can use, including the fun pool table and two grills in the back, and the piano in the main room has a great sound! There is plenty of room to sleep for everyone with extra bedding and so forth, the atmosphere is really easy-going, and you're not far from the town of Point Reyes that has a number of shops and places to eat. Was perfect for us. June 2014
The 7 of us really enjoyed the spacious house with its unusual collection of artwork and objects. It is in a quiet wooded setting. The owner went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable, without being obtrusive in the least. Apart from some plumbing issues the house was a perfect place for us to stay near Inverness, Point Reyes, and all the natural beauty of this area.
This was a great place for us to gather, and a great jumping off point for exporing pt. reyes and marin county! Sherb and Maricel were really hospitable and helped with things to do and gave us a tour of the house. They even baked us 2 cassava pies! The house was really comfortable, and had good, large open spaces. We had an excellent time here and will definitely return for gatherings in the future.
Truly an amazing and very comfortable home. Sherb provided timely response to email info. requests. The listing description is totally accurate.
The special pudding dessert was a definite treat! Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
This home is very spacious and comfortably accommodated 8 adults. Lots of charm and warmth in the home. The owners were kind, generous with little treats, and very quick to respond to any inquiry. Looking forward to our next stay!
Sherb met me on arrival to show me around the house. I have rented many times via Home Away, and Sherb is one of the nicest and most welcoming owners I have met. He even dropped off a home made cake for us! We really enjoyed this house. We played pool in the evening and also watched movies. I was in the area with my team on business, and we are hoping to be back next year to rent from Sherb again!
Sherb and Maricel were very gracious over the holidays. Just after the turn off the century, friends and family from Connecticut moved to the Bay Area, and so began our Thanksgiving tradition. This house made our celebration the best we've had so far. The two kitchens were absolutely perfect and the artisanal touches made it memorable. There were a couple minor quirks with the Internet and television (no football after the turkey!), but staring up at the stars every night more than made up for it.
