About Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners
We live near San Diego, California, but we love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore! This photo of the owners was taken as we hiked in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon.
Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners chose Duck Creek Village
We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most spectacular areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. Five years ago, we finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. That was such a good purchase that in 2013 we bought this cabin, our second cabin in Duck Creek, with an eye to living here some day. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. Red Pines Lodge is in a great location, near the Village, and with easy access. It's a beautifully built cabin, has the amenities that make it comfortable, yet it has that rustic, warm feeling we enjoy in a cabin - and think others will too. We love both our cabins - both are welcoming, wonderful places. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah. If you love the feeling of being in a beautiful cabin in the forest, then you will love Red Pines Lodge.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the majesty and beauty of Southern Utah so much that we purchased Red Pines Lodge, our second cabin property in Duck Creek. We also own Cedar Hollow log cabin (also listed on Homeaway/VRBO), in the Strawberry Valley area. It has a special place in our hearts. Most of all, we love sharing this special area with others! We enjoy extending hospitality, sharing our vacation cabins, sharing our knowledge of the area and it's attractions, and making all who stay at our cabins feel welcome and at home. That's our philosophy: to ensure that our guests are comfortable, and welcome, and have a memorable experience. Our brand of hospitality is what makes a stay in either of our cabins unique.

We so enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We came up to get away and spend time as a family. The cabin was clean and had everything that we could need. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for everyone. I think the deck was my favorite part. I loved sitting out on it in the morning and just looking at the surroundings which were so beautiful.
Zion/Bryce/Duck Creek Village
Loved the location - and so much to do that's 'off the grid'! Saw deer (momma and twin 'babies') every day.
Wonderful Place to Stay!
We stayed at the cabin while visiting Bryce and Zion parks.
The cabin was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We enjoyed the card and board games in the evening.
Beautiful cabin in Duck Creek!
Loved everything! From having coffee on the deck in the morning watching The Birds to going fishing... the cabin had everything we needed and more!
Great Place To Stay
This is a great place to spend a vacation.
The house is beautifully appointed and comfortable.
The house is perfectly located for visiting Bryce Canyon NP, Zion NP, and Grand Canyon NP - North Rim.
We loved the visiting hummingbirds at the bird feeders.
A true home away from home that'll leave you feeling pampered.
Cabin was very clean and well stocked. Had lots of room for our families both inside and out. We've stayed in many rentals and this is definitely top notch. Enjoyed watching the birds, deer and other wildlife from the deck and fire pit areas. Lots of room outside for the children to play. We never ran out of supplies (i.e. paper towels, toilet paper, bath towels, dish soap, etc.) and appliances are all upgraded and in great working condition. All of the little touches made us feel pampered and yet as comfortable as if we were home. Jan was wonderful to work with and always quick to respond.
