About Gordon Sinclair

You rent and I travel! You rent for a week and I visit friends in MX City, or go to a beach. You rent a month and I go to Paris/NYC/D.C.,etc. Retired executive living full time in San Miguel de Allende. I teach English to locals at the SM School of English. When I travel and school is in session, I have a teacher to take my class.

Why Gordon Sinclair chose San Miguel de Allende

I wanted to live in the 'Golden Triangle' area, because of the easy walk to all things. The rental is 1 of 14 adjacent townhouses with 7 on each side of driveway to open parking. These houses have thick walls. Property has locked gate entrance 24/7. Parking. Property manager lives on the grounds.

What makes this townhome unique

The house is my private residence. It is not a typical business rental and my personal things and food stuff remain. You will have ample closet space, of course.

Great secure location & easy walk to El Jardin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this town house for 3.5 months this year while Gordon travelled the world. The house is delightful, very comfortable and artfully decorated. Agripina comes 3 days a week to keep it clean and organized and the complex property manager, Anselmo, is always around if you need any assistance. There are 3 patios - one on the ground level off the living room, one on the 3rd floor and a great rooftop patio with comfortable lounge furniture and views of the hillside.

There are extra electric heaters to supplement the gas fireplaces when the weather is cold, but we rarely needed to use them. The kitchen is well-supplied for those that like to cook and the cable provider offers many, many channels (Canadians can watch all their favourite programs and keep up with the news at home on Shaw)

The Rosewood Hotel across the street provides free entertainment to us from it's Luna rooftop patio and lively wedding celebrations on the weekends. The Rosewood has a daily program for use of the pool and fitness center with a minimum spend of just over 400pesos.

This is an excellent location with access to many restaurants on the Ancha and just a short, easy walk to the Instituto Allende and Parque Juarez. The shortcut to the Jardin is out the back entrance on Tenerias.

Gordon is very charming and easy to deal with. We would stay here again if Gordon would take another extended vacation in the winter.

Conte Nast's Traveler magazine, voted that 500 year old San Miguel de Allende as the #1 place to visit in Mexico……and one place to see in the world! The 6000' mountain air is dry (No humidity) and the days are sunny.

This is a walking town with cheap taxis and cheaper buses. Although, there are no fast food places in the center city, there is a large and comfortable Starbucks adjacent to the main square (El Jardin).

English is spoken almost everywhere…..even my gardener speak English, while the older cleaning lady struggles.

Many wonderful restaurants and roof top bars, some even outstanding and world class as our the 5-star hotels.

Shopping in town is abundant with surprising finds.

Art is an important part of the culture of SMA and many, many galleries will delight you. Just out of the center is the high-end Fabrica Auroa with home furnishing, art, restaurants, decorations, and sculpture. A main attraction.

Another favorite besides horseback riding are the hot mineral baths about 15 minutes out of town. Many world cuisines are tuck away around town.

Live theater has several venues, even opera at the Opera House if you're lucky. Fringe Theater productions are in January and the next TED-X bi-lingual talks are expected again in 2016,

The new Boom Fitness with massage and 'float' spa open in 2016 and offers daily and weekly membership offering spin and yoga classes, cardio, steam, showers, and lockers (Bring your lock).

Across the street, the Hotel Rosewood (5-Star) offers daily pool and cabana use for about $450mxp and the fee can be used for food and beverage!

Notes:
Finding a good location is difficult if you haven't been here and don't know the town and its colonials. Many locations you can walk to El Centro, but the climb back up may require you to take a taxi. It is a hilly town and owner's can be conservative on the time it takes to walk to town. And, some streets are congested (Traffic is always a challenge) and/or heavily used. My location is 10 minutes to town (El Jardin) and is considered a 'flat' walk, because it has no steep blocks going most places. Taxis are convenient (Across street is 5-star hotel) or I may have to FLAT walk it down to Ancha San Antonio (Called just 'Ancha.')....a main north-south street favored by taxis and a main route for buses. Restaurants, cheese store, fish store, mini-mart, dentist, flower stall, taco stands, farmer fruits and vegetables.
