'Back Beach Cottages' is a unique property with a two cottage set up. Both houses have wonderful views of the ocean and share a private yard/ garden.
The property offers the best of both worlds in that it's an ideal location for enjoying a quiet beach while also only being a 10 minute walk to downtown Rockport.
The property is steps away from Back Beach and a 5 minute walk to Front Beach. The property comes with 2 off street parking spots in driveway.
Some details on each of the houses: The 'Main House' has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; a master bedroom with full sized bed and en suite bathroom. The Main House second bedroom has 2 twin beds.
The Main House has open kitchen / dining room and a living room with bay windows that look out to the ocean.
The Back Cottage is located just behind the Main House and has 1 Bedroom on the second floor (up a set of spiral stairs). There is a deck located off of bedroom with views of the ocean. After years of renting in Rockport we fell in love with this home; with it's location, access to town and to the beach.
We travel a lot for work and when we come home we love coming back to this place. We love it and hope you will too! We also have family in the area who help us manage the property.
The views from the property, the garden and the 2 cottages made this the house for us. We have our friends and parents come visit and its so nice to have the second Back Cottage to spend time together with friends and family.
These cottages are well-appointed and perfect for larger groups. Our extended family stayed here for a week (5 adults and 4 children) and we all had great fun. The back house has a spiral staircase to the second floor that the kids enjoyed climbing. Both houses have fully-equipped kitchens and good/large tables for game-playing. Both have have wonderful views across the road to the water (but better from the front house, naturally). It's about a 10 minute walk into the charming town of Rockport; the walk is right along the water and shops, and we highly recommend it.
We had a slight problem with the property, and Meghan was very gracious and gave us a partial refund that compensated us for the inconvenience. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely return the next time we are in Rockport.
My famiy stayed here for the week of 4th of July and it was fantastic. The home was very well kept and clean. There was plenty of room and the location was perfect. We enjoy kayaking and were able to put in right across from the home. Most days we strolled to Bear Skin Neck for breakfast, a book, to see some shops, or just for the view. We were able to spend just enough time on the beach without having to deal with parking or traffic. We also enjoyed the 4th of July festivities. I would highy recommend this rental it is perfect for people with young, teen or older children. It is also perfect for couples. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
This is a dream home away from home! Cozy and on the coast, it’s like stepping into the paintings that Rockport is famous for, but the sounds of waves crashing and birds chirping will remind you are in fact living it up in the flesh and in style. An easy walk from downtown, the place is just far enough from the tourist swarm, but close enough so that take-away lobster (and the requisite melted butter) from the Ray Moore Lobster Company will still be warm upon arrival. I highly recommend staying here, even though it may mean competition for me, as I will certainly be back! Thank you, Meghan, for offering up this great spot!
Prepare to be captivated by the ever changing sea, the quaint town of Rockport, the rocky coast and sandy beaches, forest hikes, hidden quarries, the lovely Back Beach Cottages and the wonderful owners. The location is incomparable--just as the posting says, a spectacular view of the water, and quiet but a brief walk into the heart of Rockport. Each cottage has its own character, but they share wonderful views, comfy furnishings, and charming touches. Kyaks offer a way to explore the bay. The owners are charming and responsive. Rockport has numerous attractions and restaurants, but if you want to explore further, nearby Gloucester is an active fishing community that offers more options in close range. And Boston is nearby, providing easy daytrips or enterainment. The owners have thoughtfully included information on the area. I'm on my second stay, and don't ever want to leave.
My husband and I stayed at Back Beach Cottages for a week in July, together with my parents. My parents slept in the main house and we slept in the honeymoon cottage. A friend visited for a couple of days and slept in the second bedroom of the main house. The separate spaces gave us all the privacy we could have asked for, and my husband and I fell asleep listening to the waves crashing on back beach each night. Could not have been more relaxing.
The cottages are perfectly located just outside the small downtown area, so we never heard any street noise. Proximity to two beaches plus town meant we did not have to rely on the car at all. We walked to evening events at the local library and Shalin Liu theater. We were welcomed on our first night by the weekly concerts at the bandstand, which we could watch and listen to from the house(!) or stroll 20 steps to the bandstand lawn. We walked to Roy Moore's fish store in the afternoons to buy fish to grill for dinner, and walked to the cafes and restaurants in town when we didn't want to cook. The kitchens in both houses are very well equipped for food prep, and there is plenty of comfortable indoor seating for chilly evenings, as well as a lovely landscaped outdoor seating area.
Meghan was very responsive to any questions we had before and during our stay. Both cottages were immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. We cannot wait to go back!
My husband and I stayed here during a recent visit to Rockport and had a wonderful, relaxing time together. The Honeymoon Cottage was perfect for us and the views from the balcony were amazing! It was a really quick, easy walk into town from Back Beach Cottages- probably about 5 minutes max along a scenic path. Lots of cute cafes and shops to explore in town but also a perfect spot to simply sit and relax from the cottages with great ocean views all around.
Overall, the house had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. I really loved the unique touches all over, like the vintage stove! We ended up getting some unexpected rainy weather during our stay which was a little disappointing, but this place transformed from a breezy cottage into a cozy space where we could hide away from the rain for a while. I could definitely envision coming back sometime- either winter or summer- with a bigger group of friends or family to enjoy Rockport. Highly recommended!
