Beach Details: Senigallia is home to beautiful beach clubs lining the waterfront between the historic center and the Adriatic sea. These clubs will charge a day use fee to visitors and provide amenities including towel service, bar/restaurant, bathrooms, showers, whirlpools, exercise equipment, children's programs, live music, and many other attractions. Long term renters can consider contracting a beach club for the season. For those who do not want to use a beach club's services there is public beach access beside the port and at several spots along the coast traveling south. Wind and Kite surfing take place on a larger strip of public beach south of town, accessible by bicycle or on foot. Waters are generally shallow and mild. The town staffs beaches with lifeguards throughout the high season. Those interested in boating, fishing, or diving should enquire at the port.

About Pierpaolo Ciarcianelli

I am from Rome and I spent all of my childhood summers in Senigallia; it's a dreamland of sun and sand, seemingly untouched by time. Now I live in New York and I enjoy spending a month or three in Senigallia with my wife every year. No matter what season we always enjoy ourselves.

Pierpaolo Ciarcianelli purchased this apartment in 1978

Why Pierpaolo Ciarcianelli chose Ancona region

This property is a spacious apartment in the historic center of the city. It is a short walk to the beach and surrounded by restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, and open-air market options (for clothing, food, shoes, house wears, etc.). Our quiet cobblestone street is closed to regular car traffic, which makes it especially quaint and timeless. I've owned this apartment since 1978 and we fully renovated in 2010; that means all new kitchen and both bathrooms, new furnishings (mixed with a few family antiques), new appliances, and even a new heat/hot water system. Even the linens, bedding, and kitchen utensils are new. Now it's an ideal mix of modern comfort and convenience in the historic center. This property functions primeraly as our second home, and we make it available for rent only about 8 weeks per year.

What makes this apartment unique

Unique benefits of the apartment include the layout, which includes a suite and comfortable sleeping places for 5 people. We love that there is a door between the living/dining/kitchen area and the bedrooms so you can close it and some people can sleep while others talk or eat without waking them.

Senigallia is a great place for food, and we love to walk just a few meters to the fresh fruit and vegetable markets, osterias and trattorias, and bars that serve elaborate aperitivo appatizers in the evenings. This is one place you truly do not need a car as everything is in short walking distance; even the pharmacy, liquor stor, bookstores, retail shops, cafes, and library. The town provides free wi-fi in the library and all of the common outdoor spaces, so we take our laptops and sit in the plazas and drink espresso when we want to catch up on email. We also really love walking out to the port and seeing the ships, or taking our bikes for a ride through town or to a neighboring village for a lunch. And the beach, did I mention the beach....

A perfect family holiday

  • 4 of 5

We've been to Senigallia a number of times and always stayed by the beach..... This year myself and my family stayed here in the old town and had our best holiday yet. Senigallia is a beautiful town with a rich history and a buzzing Italian culture and this apartment is the perfect place to enjoy it all. The flat is on a quiet street just just 50 metres from the bustling center of the old town. You can literally see the ice cream shops and cafe's from the window.

The beach is a 5-10 minute walk away but we decided to hire bikes, which the kids loved! In the mornings we'd nip down to Doria Caffe for our Cappuccino and pastries, then hit the beach. In the evenings we either ate at the restaurants on the beach (Tartana is great) or enjoyed the many brilliant restaurants in the old town. ('la Mute' did an great Vongole pasta)

The apartment is big, clean, bright and has everything you could need. loads of clean linen and towels. A washing machine , fridge freezer etc. It's doesn't have a WI-FI which is fine if you want to cut yourself off from the office : ) but I found myself having to send the odd email from a cafe. One thing to note is that the apartment is on the 3rd floor which was ok for us, but our elderly parents found the climb a little tiring.

We had a wonderful time here. The whole experience of booking with the host and picking up the keys from the lovely house keeper was effortless. We'd definitely stay here again.

A Classic spot in the historic center

  • 5 of 5

I've visited Senigallia in all seasons, and even stayed in this apartment a few times before. This was a return trip for a holiday season. First of all, the apartment was so comfortable during my previous summer visits I chose to return during winter. As always the accommodation was clean and well equipped, the owners have made several improvements recently including adding a glass shower door and new artwork. Once again I enjoyed bargain shopping at the weekly market and preparing my meals from local, farm-fresh food in the apartment's fully stocked kitchen. This visit I especially enjoyed some new restaurants, including some one in a neighboring building basement (grotto) with beautiful brick arches, and another that serves an aperitif which easily stands in for dinner down by the waterfront. Its worth noting that in the center most businesses and restaurants are open year-round, and continue to be frequented by beautiful, classy, fashionable people from all over the world. I spent several afternoons in the public library which is newly opened in the ancient building that comprises the forro annonario. This is a wonderful space with free wifi; great for reading or quiet study... just get there promptly at 3PM for the afternoon shift because it fills up. Senigallia, as appreciated from this lovely home, never fails to disappoint, at any time of year.

This trip just set the bar to a new height!

  • 5 of 5

When I heard the wonderful stories about Senigallia I was truly intrigued and was so looking forward to our trip. The best vacation I had for comparison was the islands of Greece... which set the bar pretty high.

Upon arriving in Rome we were met at the airport by our amazing friends Elizabeth and Pierpaolo. Their smiling faces immediately told me we were going to have an amazing time. And that, we did! We drove across the beautiful countryside to the Ancona region of the East coast of Italy. The hills had castles on top and the valleys were covered in olives, grapes and wheat which just made my appetite that much greater. Once we got to Ancona we started driving up the coast. By this point we just had to stop at a restaurant on the beach which got us totally hooked on the mixed Adriatic seafood grill dishes.... which I tried to only eat once a day! I could not ignore the rest of the Italian cuisine now could I???

Back to the apartment.... which was completely remodeled before the arrival of the first guests, has high ceilings, thick walls and beautiful stone floors. The solidness of the construction impressed and intrigued me as much as it's beauty. The kitchen is off the dining area and has it's own large window to gaze from while preparing some of the best, freshest local foods we could ask for. I will digress again... the farmers market set up every morning and was about a 2 minute walk from the apartment. I couldn't ask for more!

Through a door off the living room is a wide hallway which has laundry facilities at one end and hallways leading to the 2 bedroom suites at the other. The master suite is large and magnificently laid out with the master bath being separate from the bedroom. The other bedroom is spacious and wonderfully apportioned in an en-suite layout. The large window by the sink in the room also provided amazing views.

Oh yes, let's not forget the gorgeous beach club which is a whole 5 minute walk from the apartment.

The restaurants... were simply amazing! Everything was local, fresh andspectacular.

Many castle towns were just a short drive from town.

This trip just set the bar to a new height! Thank you Elizabeth and Pierpaolo!

In Love!

  • 5 of 5

Senigallia is still burned in my mind as the love of my life, I am so excited to be returning this summer! I spent two weeks there last September were an absolute dream. I was so comfortable in your apartment. I felt right at home. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking about going to Italy.

The owner keeps the place very tidy and well stocked. Cooking with the fresh market veggies was a breeze thanks to the very-complete kitchen. Having a washing machine (and a stock of detergent!) in house was also a great convenience. The pictures on your listing are accurate, but in person the place is even nicer than it looks.

For those who like shopping, or even browsing, the open-air market on Thursdays is not to be missed. It takes up half the town, and there are tons of good finds. There are also great outlets, one down by the beach and a few more a short drive up the coast. The food was amazing: all of it.
