About Mike Gansen
Valerie and I have been together for 10 years now and we have 3 children ages 3-7 so we understand the importance of the 'getaway' from our busy lives. We love to take the kids to the coast and create the pages of memories that will make up the book of our life but, it is the time spent and the memories created with the one you fell in love with that is the glue that holds those pages together.
Mike Gansen purchased this House in 2006
Why Mike Gansen chose Florence
We love Florence. The old town shopping, Dune buggy rides, Horse back riding, Golfing, Beach combing, Whale watching, Hiking I could go on and on. Bottom line is Val and I both felt Florence is a place we could build a lifetime of 'fun'memories with our family.
What makes this House unique
Our home is nearly new so it is 'nice and tight' what i mean by that is when its cold outside its nice and warm inside because the doors and windows don't leak it has a forced air heating system and a Lopi wood burning stove (firewood included) all the modern appliances, 1 car garage and a fenced yard for the pooch!

Cute place. Good location. We had a nice time!
We enjoy VRBO stays but always have to remind ourselves it is a private home and not a staffed property. This had a great location near the beach. Inside of house was comfortable but could use some attention. Carpets are soiled, linens are old, and apparently a past pet visitor scratched the walls at various points that were not yet repaired. Front door lock inoperable with key so we just used the side door. Internet modem needed to be reset multiple times per day. That said we enjoyed our stay. The house has a cozy fenced yard, patio and a nice kitchen. With end of the of vacation season approaching a good refreshing would go a long way to make it ready for next season. We would come back.
Like many of the reviewers, we loved the location and the functionality of the house. It was easy to explore the coast and hike (we highly recommend the Sea Lion Caves and tidepools near Haceta Lighthouse at low tide, and sand surfing on the dunes). The house was a comfortable stay for our family of five, but it does need some TLC like having a working porch light when we got home from our post dinner walks on the beach. The outside shower was a nice bonus and we would stay there again.
The reviews are correct. The outside doesn't look super, but the inside is nice. The outside is ready for new paint, while the inside is really cute. The kitchen is well stocked. Plenty of towels and linens. We loved that there was enough space for our group of 10 to be in the same space in the living room and dining room together. We all slept comfortably. Once we saw the fire pit in the back we had to go back to the store to get s'more fixings. Our favorite thing was renting sandbords from Sand Masters, just down the road from the house and going down the dunes. Some minuses of the place is the cleanliness. It could use a deep clean. I imagine it's hard to keep a place spotless with so much sand around. We found dust in corners and dirty baseboards. The shower curtain needs replaced. The bath tub has a slow drain. We would have loved for the outside shower to work to get the sand off. Overall, we really had a great time and can't wait to return to Florence!
