Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms with Jacuzzi baths, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 10

Beautiful mountain lodge on 86 acre scenic horse estate in Montgomery County, MD, 45 minutes from Washington, D.C. Three excellent golf courses nearby.

Get away from the busyness of downtown Washington, and enjoy the peace of this lodge overlooking a rolling pasture of horses grazing by the fish-filled pond. The 3-story house includes 4 bedrooms, 3 and a half baths with jacuzzi's in each one, an elegant dining room, 2 full kitchens, a spa room with massage table and infrared sauna, a scenic greatroom with a 30 foot fireplace. The library on the 3rd floor opens to the Great Room on the 2nd level with a huge expanse of windows showing the magnificent scenery. Choose from hundreds of books, and go down to read in front of the Great Room 30-foot fireplace, or by the wood stove. Bring your computer and enjoy wireless access.

There is also a media room with a 70-inch flat screen television. You can have fun preparing food in either of the two kitchens! For exercise, we have exerstrider poles, rebounders (small mini trampolines), and yoga mats with videos to follow along in the media room. Or you may choose to fish in the well-stocked pond, or take horseback riding lessons from our on-site trainers!

FOR GOLFER'S: Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club was a very well maintained club and part of the experience is traveling to the course and crossing on White's Ferry, it is like going back in time. The course is only 8 1/2 miles from the home.

The P.B. Dye Club is another great course and very challenging. In typical P.B. Dye fashion there are plenty of railroad ties that you can bounce your ball off on a bad shot. This is 15 miles from the house but seems closer, as it a nice country drive.

Whiskey Creek Golf club is about 15 miles from the house. It is very, very nice. Very well maintained with a lot of elevation changes

There is also easy access to hiking, canoeing, polo matches, winery tours, antiquing, biking or trail riding either your own or a rented horse, and public golf.

Keywords: golf, horseback riding, hiking, polo, wineries, canoeing, fishing

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a tranquil time at the lodge. Being there allowed each of us to leave distracting issues behind and center our focus on being together and soaking up the lovely views and atmosphere. It was a very special place to enjoy our grandson’s (and first grandchild) first Christmas.

Not quite what we expected

  • 3 of 5

The house is located in a beautiful location, horses on the horizon, and remote. Fantastic seclusion with our family. We enjoyed getting away. The house is not quite as nice as the photo suggests. It is quite rustic and needed attention. The light bulbs were missing in many lamps, lighting was poor in many rooms. Bathrooms are nice. Above all the matresses are very soft making sleep tough and needs replacement in our opinion. They had a problem with ants. Obviously with all the rain it is not really their fault.

Dead flowers were left in the kitchen. Perhaps form previous quests.

Owner's Response: I read your review with surprise, as we have never had a bad review. But I take all comments seriously. The light bulbs can easily be fixed, and the mattresses will be replaced. I appreciate your comments. Thank you.

Fantastic -- Wonderfull -- Amazing House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this magnificent place with three of our children and six grandchildren. Everyone enjoyed themselves. We have rented through VBRO from Rhode Island to the Caribbean. This house is the best equipped, very beautiful, peaceful setting of any we have rented. Great family place to just be peaceful and joyful to be together. Close to Frederick and Leesburg. Want to go back. Better than the description. Thanks.

Idyllic views, Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay at Alyse and Tony's home. There are multiple comfortable spots to sit and enjoy the view of the horses and the sunset was stunning. The kids were fascinated by the horses and my nephew actually stayed right near the fence for hours watching them and trying to feed the horses grass he picked for them. The home was beautiful. This was the perfect setting for a family gathering to put the focus on quality time together. I hope we can return regularly.

Fall at the Lodge

  • 4 of 5

This home was amazing! The pictures do not do it justice....It is conveniently located near Baltimore, DC, Gettysburg, Antitiem, and the Amish villages in Pennsylvania. We traveled the country side and were truly amazed at the history. It was wonderful to watch the horses in the morning while drinking our coffee. We had the horses in their pasture as well as the polo ponies working out. The views from every room were breath taking...We would definately recommend this property and return for another stay.

The kitchen is a cook's dream come true!
