I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this amazing coastal home for a family get together. Truly a memorable vacation for all us (Thank you, Anna!) Everyone was impressed not only with the location and layout but also how clean it was. I think it was built in the 1800's ... loved the wide planked floors, shiplapped walls and beamed ceiling. Anna is very responsive and super easy to work with. We will be back again... I can't wait!
We had a perfect vacation here! The home is wonderfully comfortable and in a great location. We biked right from the property, hiked nearby Camden State Park, sailed from Owls Head, shopped in Camden, ate at delicious restaurants in Owls Head and Rockland and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at Birch Point beach.
Anna could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We can't wait to go back.
We have been talking about heading to the northern Maine coast for decades. My wife discovered this rental, and it looked good, so we went.
I am not sure what a salt box is, but I think this place would qualify. Wide plank floors with square nails, high windows in the bedrooms overlooking the harbor, pitched ceilings in the bedrooms all pointed to a great Maine coast stay.
The kitchen was well equipped, but we ate out most of the time. The little odds and ends and the large windows facing the harbor added to the experience.
We did some traveling to Acadia and Bar Harbor, and this was a great base of operation. There are great restaurants in nearby Rockland. Winery, Transportation Museum, lighthouses are all close by, so we were kept busy.
We really could not have done better than we did here. I felt it gave us the feeling and the flavor of a true down east, coastal Maine experience.
We met Anna and she was gracious and accommodating. We hope to return next year.
My wife and I stayed here with our two dogs for Labor Day weekend. We wanted a no-fuss getaway to enjoy the end of summer where nature comes naturally. This home in Owl's Head was exactly what we needed.
The interior was very well arranged. The well-stocked kitchen and Owl-themed bathroom gave us a feeling of the house being "lived in" and cozy. The second floor bedrooms all have windows looking out on the nearby docks. In the morning we could see the Lobster fishermen taking out their boats with the fog rolling off the bay.
The yard is well kept and large enough that the dogs could tire themselves out by running around in it. We had dinner by the fire pit in the back while gazing at the stars and listening to the trees blow in the wind. Coming from the city, it was a cathartic experience to feel the cool sea breeze at night under a blanket.
The owner has done a great thing by curating this experience through their very generous hospitality. This place gave us so much joy in our short stay that we felt we were leaving home when we had to say goodbye.
Great house located right by the harbor in Owl's Head, just like the title says it feels like the real Maine but is close to towns like Camden. The home has a beachy/cottage feel and is very charming and quaint, personally I'd say the photos don't show all the charm :). The kitchen is well stocked and the layout of the house is great for when you have a group of people as there's space for all. Three bedrooms upstairs are comfortable and have a great view of the harbor. The stairs are steep fyi. Anna and Rodney were great, very accommodating, giving us info on the area and even cooked us up some lobsters for dinner! I'd definitely recommend staying here.
There are many festivals throughout the summer season which include the Blues Festival, Lobster Festival, and Homes Boats and Harbors. Rockland is home to many wonderful restaurants including two time awarding winning Melissa Kelly of Primo.
