Fantastic getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Little Red Cabin! A great place to get away from it all, but only 2 hours from DC. Comfy accommodations, plenty of firewood, highly recommended!

Pros: The pricing was excellent and affordable; no extra charge for pets. The area was breathtakingly beautiful, everywhere we drove was like a postcard view. We enjoyed our time on the deck and playing some of the board games that were available. The weather was perfect, we never needed any heat or cooling the entire time.

Cons: The owner's listings state that she accepts credit cards, but she told me on the phone that she only accepts checks or money orders. The cabin is not as private as advertised, you have a neighbor directly across the road and another visible through some trees. This cabin did NOT have wifi, the internet access was being siphoned from a neighbor, and most of the time did not work at all. The cleaning lady showed up AFTER we arrived on time, and said the owner was supposed to call us and tell us to come an hour late, but we never got any call. The TV's in the house are probably 20 years old and seriously need to be updated. There was no couch or sofa for our family to curl up on, there's only a rock-hard futon, which was extremely disappointing.

This isn't a bad cabin if you aren't looking for much. It just needs some major updating. If you're going to ski or otherwise spend most of your time away from the house, it's probably fine. If you're looking for a comfy, cozy cabin with lots of modern amenities (like a TV that doesn't look like it came from the 80's), this is definitely not it.

Awesome long weekend!

  • 5 of 5

The little red cabin is perfect! The cabin has everything you need and more. It is the perfect size for two or a small family. Our dog enjoyed the surrounding woods and we enjoyed cozying up in front of the fire place. Mount Jackson and Luray are just a drive away. There are plenty of sights to see and activities to enjoy both indoors and outdoors in the surrounding area. Don't second guess your choice to stay here. It is great!

A Great Thanksgiving Weekend Away

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay in The Little Red Cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The surrounding woods were beautiful, especially in the snow. Our dog enjoyed exploring and we enjoyed cozying up in front of the fireplace. During the day it was an easy drive to Luray, Mount Jackson, Shenandoah National Park, and Skyline Drive. Don't second guess your decision to stay the The Little Red Cabin, you won't regret it! We ill most definitely be back!

This is a sweet cabin in the forest. Great deck to have coffee, read a novel and while away the hours. I got some much-needed R&R here, and my dog loved roaming around the property. I'd love to go back in the colder weather and enjoy the fireplace, too. Linda is a thoughtful hostess - seems like everything I needed was there. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and our two dogs spent a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the cabin as a last minute escape from the city. The property is beautiful, especially when viewed from the back deck. It's easy to let your mind wander in front of the fireplace (firewood is provided) and the kitchen is well-equipped for cooking easy meals. We will definitely be returning and look forward to experiencing the area during warm weather!
