In l992 I was on my first vacation to Sooke, saw and walked Gordons Beach and fell in love totally. I knew immediately this was the place for me. It felt so right. Two years later on another visit I found this place, bought it immediately and then went back home to Vancouver to sell, pack, and move. I have never looked back. All my friends describe this spot as 'healing, calming, rejuvenating'. Now retired and still enjoying life and people its time to share this bit of paradise. No matter what season, this is the place.
June Bartel purchased this cottage in 2011
I bought my home to relax and retire. This year the seperate cottage was built to allow others the pleasure of a very special place. If you desire activity and adventure its all In the close area. If you desire solitude and peacefulness, thats a given.
Come and enjoy and discover..
Wow! to the private outdoor shower. It feels so-o-o naughty but nice. The ocean, the sky, the clouds, the waves, the surf, the rainbows, the colors, the marine wildlife, the marine traffic, the fresh fresh air-----and the peace.
We stayed at the Little Beach House for three nights in November. We found the property to offer everything we were looking for. It is right on the beach so we were able to hear the waves breaking throughout our stay. We walked the beach and only saw a couple of other people during our walk. Restaurants and services are close by in the town of Sooke. We found some exceptional cuisine. We highly recommend dinner at the Point No Point Resort. Sooke Harbour House is also a very comfortable resort in Sooke that offers wonderful food and atmosphere. We would highly recommend the Little Beach House for couples seeking a comfortable get-away right on the beach.
It was a very nice stay at junes nice beach house. She was so nice and the location is just wonderful
We enjoyed our stay, and June was there if you needed her.
We went to the little beach house for our honeymoon and it was a perfect romantic getaway. We had lots of privacy. It is amazing being right on the beach. We spent tons of time on the little covered patio listening to and watching the waves and just relaxing. We also saw an otter in the water and had a view of a lighthouse on the point. We enjoyed using the little electric fireplace at night to make things cozy. We did lots of cooking there in the little kitchenette. It was nice having a full size refrigerator/freezer to use. One of the days it was warm enough to use the outdoor shower which was really nice, like being at a spa. The town is not far away so it was easy to get supplies and go out to eat when we wanted to. We made so many great memories there and feel grateful we got to stay in such a wonderful location.
Our stay was carefree, unscheduled, and laid back - exactly what we both needed. June was very pleasant, greeting us upon arrival and showing us around the beach house. She then let us have the place to ourselves, but it was nice to know she was just next door if we needed something. The house was well appointed for the two us with just enough space and amenities for our 4 night stay. We were blessed with beautiful weather and used the sheltered gazebo every day for our morning coffee and our late afternoon glass of wine. The only complaint would be limited space in the bedroom, but the comfort of the bed and softness of the sheets certainly made up for it :).
This place is an absolute gem. It is not a far distance from Sooke (maybe 10 minutes north). We were close to hiking (Sooke Potholes and East Sooke Rain Forest), whale watching, and great restaurants in Sooke and further North/West along the highway. There is a great view of the ocean from the bedroom and living room. June has two great outdoor spaces, again with fabulous ocean views. If you don't have cell service in Canada, June has a landline for local calls.
Numerous parks and beaches nearby for strolling and hiking, both easy going and wild and wooly. A wildlife paradise with eagles, whales and more. Windsurfing, kayaking, fishing at your door.
