Philadelphia residents since birth. We visit the Peaceful Pocono Getaway as often as possible.
Mike purchased this house in 2007
Any time of year is a good time to visit Bear Creek Lakes in the Pocono Mountains, located within driving distance of most major East Coast cities. Our property is centrally located with-in the community. Quite is the word as there are no properties across from ours.
The Pocono region steaming with history offers year-round cultural tours and art exhibitions, abundant antiquing and brand-name shopping and a full calendar of festivals showcasing the heritage, music and food of the Pocono Mountains.
Vacation fun and year 'round living begin at Bear Creek Lakes, in the heart of the lively Pocono Vacationland. Here, lying in the scenic Pocono's, 1500 feet above sea level, Bear Creek Lakes proudly takes its place high on the roster of America's finest communities. There's mountain beauty all around. Bear Creek Lakes is a peaceful and restful community of permanent residents and vacation homeowners. You'll find us to be the most enjoyable vacation spot you've ever known. For Bear Creek Lakes is a complete community in itself, only your imagination limits the exciting possibilities afforded at Bear Creek Lakes.
Located along Rt. 903, just eight and one half miles from the Mahoning Valley Turnpike Interchange, Bear Creek Lakes is close to the finest skiing and recreational facilities in the Pocono's. These include Big Boulder Ski Area and Split Rock. Close at hand is 26,000 acre game land 141, offering the finest grouse, rabbit, ring neck pheasant, squirrel, and deer hunting to be found anywhere. Other nearby points of recreational interest include Hickory Run State Park and the Francis E. Walter Dam on the Lehigh River.
Three miles of shoreline surrounds 160 acres of unspoiled Bear Creek Lake! The Lake is fully stocked perfect for fishing, sailing, boating, and swimming along with two private beaches. There is a heated Olympic size swimming pool and a wading pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard, bocce court, regulation softball field, basketball courts, volleyball courts, picnic areas and playgrounds. The community has a clubhouse and a large pavilion which are available for private parties.
We had a blast. The place is great, sat around fire pit everynight and ate smores, and drank beers. Relaxed in the cool Pocono air. The deck and patio are gorgeous, we grilled and had family meals on the big table. Everyone was comfortable, plenty of blamkets and sheets. We played our acoustical guitars at night. Went to Lehigh Gorge and hiked the falls, went swimming in the river and cool lake and hung around the house being lazy and relaxed. WE plan to return soon.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Peaceful Pocono Getaway. The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked with utensils/dishes/appliances, plenty of linens for the beds/futons and the main living area was open and spacious. We loved taking walks to the lake, having morning coffee on the deck, spotting deer and chipmunks and spending downtime at the fire pit. The house is close to Jim Thorpe, white water rafting and Penns Peak. While in Jim Thorpe we visited the jail, the Asa Packer Mansion and shopped-- dinner was at Molly Maguire Pub which was very nice for me as it has delicious gluten free options! All in all a very good week!
The cottage is really nicely located, clean, and spacious. We (4 adults) spend a wonderful relaxing long weekend there. We enjoy cooking and the kitchen fulfilled all our needs. The porch is peaceful to have the dinner . We were lucky and it was not raining but there is a large dining area that would have been good on a rainy day. Firepit was nice to make s'mores and sit around and listen to the quiet nights. Lot of nature activities within close distance. Hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, tubing and more. We did swimming, biking and tubing. We still need to come for at least fishing and hiking. Also Jim Thorpe is close by and we did not really have time to explore the town much. So we surely will come back. The owner is easy to reach and answered any questions. I warmly recommend this getaway to anyone.
This house was everything that the owner said it would be. We were three couples looking for a weekend getaway. This house did not diappoint us. The deck, grill and fire pit was a plus.
Property was very well maintained. The inside of the house was much bigger than we had expected, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep. Mike was easy to talk to you and knowledgable about the area and even suggested the best restaurants and ski slopes to check out during our stay. Definitely recommend.... Thanks again Mike!
my friends loved this place! Mike was friendly, very helpful and patient with my many questions and emails. the house was so spacious everyone had room. We were there during the bizarre and had a blast just being stuck inside. the house felt very clean and homie unlike places i've stayed before. i would definitely come back, i'm already thinking about booking again during summer time.
My 3rd time staying the this beautiful home, and certainly not my last! Very clean, spacious, and quiet. Lot of great spots to travel in Jim Thorpe!
