Cory and I came to the Big Island for a vacation and fell in love with its tropical beauty and rugged lava terrain. We were welcomed and embraced their Aloha spirit. It is wonderful to be able to pass that spirit on to our guests.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
The minute we saw it we knew we had to have it. It spoke to our heart and soul.
We love the privacy the surrounding tropical vegetation gives us. We are mesmorized by the array of birds- watching the doves 'dance', the Red Cardinals that come right up our lava wall and sing to us, the crashing of the waves on the lava cliff walls. The most clearest sky with the full moon and stargazing - you can almost touch it. We are in awe of all that surrounds us.
We had a quiet and very comfortable stay with our two young children. They especially enjoyed the pool, lanai, outdoor shower, and all the space to run around in. The house is even prettier in person than in the photos, and is beautifully set up for a family or small group. It's in a residential area that's quite a trek from the main road and services, but very close to the ocean and still within reasonable driving distance of sights like Volcano, Mauna Kea, Hilo, etc. It was always a treat to come back from exploring, throw open the big doors to the pool, and jump in for a splash.
Overall, a superb value and we will cherish our memories here. Thanks!
This was our 3rd year in a row at House Of paddles. Again the house and Pool was excellent, we spent most days laying around and playing in the pool , Our daughter , Son and Grandchildren stayed with us this year . The grandchildren are 7 & 5 and we celebrated Myles 5th birthday here. Living in Minnesota it would be hard to have a pool party, We all had a great time! The kids enjoyed the pool and so did the rest of us. we used the flat top on the stove every day ( thanks Cory ) . we are already thinking of next year and when to book the house. We have loved every year that we have stayed at House of Paddles and are glad that Cory and his family share there Home with us. We did have a few rainy days but that's why we had a van to go to the beach on the other side of the Island. Thank you for everything Cory & Emily.

Loved the nearby ocean and all the flowers in the yard . Someone please sharpen the kitchen knives , otherwise this place had everything we needed to enjoy our stay 💜
there were 6 of us visiting the big island to celebrate our mother/mother-in-laws 80th birthday. The paddle house was a great place to share dinners and a wonderful place to return to each day as we toured the island. Great memories!
Everything was great. We had a minor issue with the garbage disposal, but it was quickly rectified. Only complaint (really minor) not enough cleaning supplies. We had to buy products and mops etc. For those with short stays probably not a big deal. But we were there for just over two weeks, and with three little boys that is too long to go without cleaning products/supplies. So we definitely left the house cleaner than we showed up to! So very minor complaint. Everything else was outstanding! The kitchen was well supplied so cooking was an ease. The rooms are spaced out around so no one is sleeping next door to each other (good for spreading kids out!). The pool was incredible a tad chilly for the really warm blooded, but great for cooling down. Close to the water, at night you can hear the waves. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely itely consider a return visit in the future.
