About Maresa Fanelli Evans

Dr. Evans is a native Cruzan but has lived in Ohio for the last 30 years. We have been visiting St Croix every year and finally found the ideal retirement getaway.

Maresa Fanelli Evans purchased this condo in 2013

Why Maresa Fanelli Evans chose St. Croix

C-1 is freshly decorated and has a bright, light, cheerful tropical decor. Gentle Winds is ideally situated in a secure gated community on one of the nicest beaches on one of the loveliest areas of the island, the beautiful North Shore

What makes this condo unique

C-1 is special because it is an end unit with a garden room which gives it an expansive feel. It also has a little patio as well as a screened porch (known as a 'gallery' locally) accessible from the living room and the master bedroom. With only nine buildings and a total of 64 units, there is a neighborly atmosphere and every one is friendly yet there is a sense of privacy.

Lush & Complete

  • 5 of 5

I read all the reviews about Gentle Winds and this particular end unit and I agree with all the positive attributes other visitors have commented on. But, I have a few things to add. It is actually more beautiful inside this unit and outside than the lovely pictures convey and it felt very conducive to playing and relaxing. Perhaps it's because of the open layout, roominess and lush views from almost everywhere in the main living areas. While eating breakfast in the dining area we took in the same tropical picture through the full sliding glass doors as we could while preparing food in the kitchen, or sitting on the screened porch, which also had another table and 4 chairs, (more good room for spreading out) We had the views in all of the living areas: coconut palms waving and sounds of the ocean. No matter where you are you can't help but feel good. The decor was tropical with soothing colors. Playing games (the owner stocked games and books - another plus, in the dining area) or reading on the screened porch even using a tablet, we could always hear the ocean. The condo's layout gave some separation so you're not shoulder to shoulder every moment, yet it felt connected at the same time. (I'm not an architect, I can't explain why it worked) A separate couch (sleeper sofa) in the entry area was another nook to be in which we didn't use because we didn't have extended family or kids with us but it's available. The king size beds were comfortable, the bedrooms felt very roomy and there was plenty of storage space. As we walked across the lawn to the pool and saw the ocean beyond and mountain and palm trees, we started to relax even before we got to the pool and beach. What made the vacation easy in this particular unit was that the owners thought of everything so basically we just provided food in the fridge. They even had spices in the well stocked kitchen: plenty of sliverware, dishes, (very pretty ones too) utensils, pots. Lots of towels and wash cloths and separate beach towels and even extra shampoos and soap under the bathroom sink. A washer and dryer helped also. We ate out when we wanted and did the tours that attracted us. My husband had a great diving experience, his 2nd only dive. We found the tracks of one of these 500 - 1,000 pound turtles that come at night to lay their eggs. I suggest you pick up the brochures at the Snack Shack by the pool for ideas of things to do and then actually call to confirm dates and times.

Relaxation Perfected!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 5th trip to St. Croix and our 1st stay at Gentle Winds. Wow! Absolute perfection! C-1 is so thoughtfully appointed--we felt at home the moment we walked in. From the sea glass colored décor to the truly gentle winds and ocean sounds to the beautifully maintained grounds and gardens, our stay here was pure zen. C-1 is huge--much bigger than it appears in the pictures--and such a comfortable, easy layout. The pool and beach here is beautiful, and the beach side "Sandy Toes" bar and grill was a truly nice bonus...just stroll over for a frosty drink, healthy "happy tummy" salad or a more decadent lunch option (awesome burgers!) then stroll back to your tiki hut for another serving of relaxation! We remain hooked on St. Croix also. We highly recommend the biobay Kayak tour with Virgin Kayak--amazing--and snorkeling Buck Island and visiting Turtle Beach (unreal how beautiful it is) with Caribbean Sea Adventures (lots of shade on their power boat and only 13 snorkelers on our trip). The food on St. Croix is always a delight...highlights this trip included Rowdy Joe's, sunset dinner at The Waves @ Cane Bay (super romantic!) and Le Reine Chicken Shack (num). We highly recommend both C-1 and St. Croix and will "soon come" back!

Amazing Time

  • 5 of 5

Gentle Winds is a fantastic condo complex. The pictures do not do this condo justice. Maresa was wonderful to work with while renting C1. The condo is very well stocked with anything you could need. The location is very convenient. We had a whole agenda planned for our trip, but loved the property so much we canceled a few days just to enjoy the property. We can't wait to return!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

This location is private but close to Christiansted. I loved the grounds and view of the ocean from the condo. This rental was stocked with household goods which was a pleasant surprise! It felt like home and it was perfect for my family. Kids loved the mineral pool and the adjacent National Park.

We found the unit very well appointed. It was immaculate and very inviting. Kitchen was stocked with staples including alcoholic libations which we gladly replenished upon our departure!

Gentle Winds is a wonderful place that we have been visiting for many years. I highly recommend it.
