Rustic cabin with which to soak and view the Aurora

  • 5 of 5

All the information on this listing is accurate. The cabin is located on the grounds of Chena Hot Springs, and within walking distance to the hot springs, the Aurorium, and the Activities Center. Green lighting inside simulates the Aurora, which I saw during two nights. I soaked in the outdoor hot springs, enjoying the steam and the surrounding snow-covered hills.

The cabin was warm and cozy with the oil stove, even in below zero outside temperatures. The bed was warm and soft with several comforters. Green lighting inside simulated the Aurora. I watched several DVDs, and enjoyed the snacks that were provided. The lock system worked fine. Even though there was no water nor bathroom facilities, there was a lighted outhouse 100 feet away, and the Activity Center was open 24 hours/day.

I would return if in the area again. I would highly recommend this unique and rustic cabin.

A cozy warm cabin with atmosphere and as amenities for an enjoyable stay. The outhouse was close by

  • 5 of 5

Denise sent the detailed rules and regulations beforehand, along with a map that was helpful. I stayed at this rustic, cozy, and warm cabin from March 17-20, 2016 at Chena Hot Springs. The cabin was heated by an oil stove that kept it warm in below zero temperatures. To add ambience some of the lighting was green to correlate with the Aurora, which we saw two nights by the Aurorium. Appropriate pictures decorated the walls. The king size bed was very comfortable and warm with many pillows and comforters. I enjoyed watching DVDs and munching on the snacks. There were books about Alaska to enjoy. I signed the guest book with a glowing review. I would return to this cozy cabin if at Chena Hot Springs again. My daughter and husband, who stayed in another dwelling, would also like to stay in this cabin.

We soaked in the hot springs two times, ate at an excellent restaurant, and enjoyed tours of the geothermal energy and the world's only ice museum. Everything was within walking distance, including the lit outhouse, only 100 feet away. The Activities Center was open 24 hours per day for additional bathroom facilities.

Definitely the best place to stay at Chena. The cabin was very nice and comfortable. We also appreciated the snacks and fridge full of bottled water. We will always rent this cabin when we go to stay at the Hotsprings.

Comfortable and cute - an upgrade from the resort

  • 4 of 5

We appreciated the extremely comfortable bed and cabin overall! Decently private and the cabin is much better than the rooms within the resort!

great cabin

  • 5 of 5

their cabin infrastructure looks better compared to the resort infrastructure. I stayed with my gf and her service dog and the couple of days I stayed there was great. We were able to see in one clear sky the northern lights. It wasn't so intense the view but it worthed. Also, the hot springs was veery relaxing and even with low temps there, it doesn't feel so cold because it is not windy.

The cabin had lots of treats like snacks, candies and water, which I wasn't expecting and it was also good too.

The ice museum is super cool and i totally recommend to go in the resort infrastructure. the guys there rock.

The cabin is very clean and confortable.

The negative thing is that i arrived 3am in the morning and the area the cabin is at is dark so it took us some minutes to figure but the area is secure
